Why so many issues from so many people from all over the world?

This Simulator/Game (however you address it) has an unbelievable array of issues from all over the globe. The big question is… Why? Xbox games/PlayStation games you turn the system on and off you go.
Has microsoft/Asobo taken on a mission to produce the best ever simulator? Or have they discovered that the mission could turn out to be mission impossible? Forums are a very useful tool to digest information/tweaks/go-to-places ect, but I find this forum is more hot on issues than hot on positives. What’s your thoughts?

I think its more of a “See you can do anything from the cloud from win to sims” Show case. Nothing more nothing less.

And look at the last couple of attempts to put an MSFS out into the mainstream, it didnt work out well and resulted in to product cancelations. The last good one was 10. I really wonder what will happen when that other product releases 12 and it looks as good ‘or at least close to’ and you dont need a crazy good network connection to play.

12 will be better than this… this has been a shambles for some. I have been lucky enough but the performance is just useless even with high end machines

The answer is because this is a very complex program.
There are so many PC’s in the world, and so many differences in the way they are set up.
Like any product’s forum, people come here to find solutions to those problems.

Compare it as well to news on various media.
It is rarely positive news that is published.

I would imagine MSFS is a rather complex program that will take some time to develop into an amazing product, and I would bet it is now one of the most popular simulation games, not to mention one of the best PC games around. To answer the original question, many people, like myself, post questions and comments on this forum because they are extremely engaged with the sim. Unfortunately, another reason is that many people say nothing unless they have something negative to say.

Well, the obvious answer is because MS divested out of the industry for like 14 years. Yes, a flight simulator is complex. But yes, it is possible to develop a rock solid flight simulator, but probably not in a couple years development by taking old code and trying to make it work like new.

Over the world there will be millions of PCs that in some way have differences. EG memory, CPU/GPU speeds, Operating systems etc but an Xbox is an Xbox worldwide with very few differences and its manufacture controled by MS.
Thats why there are issues

“Xbox is an xbox” as you quote. A sim that can’t be used worldwide, to put it simply…

People will always be more motivated to post about problems than things going well.

As for issues well there are so many configurations of PCs, drivers, 3rd party software, mods etc that it is hardly surprising.

You would be surprised to find out how few of the total number of users actually encounters serious issues such as the sim crashing.

Now go to any forum of a flight sim or other software and you will quickly spot a pattern, with plenty of threads with people who experience problems.

Just ask yourself, if you use a software and it works perfectly fine, would you start a thread saying that? If you would encounter a major issue though, then the chances of you posting about it are far greater.

Hence forums are worthless trying to get an an overall picture of a product.

Those post exist on this board, its just when someone makes such a post the majority of the rabble immediately behead them and…

yes i agree and there are as many different types of users as there are systems. Some simmers just like eye candy and exploring a virtual world there are others who really want to study an aircraft down to the level of the right shading on a switch on the overhead panel. then you have the simmers who encountering a ctd or performance issue delve into the innards of their system and google things. then you have the types who no matter what you give them are always complaining… the misery loves company crowd. Im the type who likes studying maps and sids and stars and building things. Im more a ground mechanic than a pilot. so tech problems are what interests me more than say cloud formations.

I have been using Microsoft Flight Simulator since it first came out around 1984. I was sad to see it go several years ago, and I was happy when I heard it was coming back in 2020. I bought FS2020 and was excited to start using it, but it has been nothing but a disappointment. I won’t go into the details because they are the same as many people have already expressed them. As of today, I am discontinuing the use of the program. XPlane 11 continues to be the simulator of my choice.

but yes, place 6 (edit: hatte Assetto Corsa vergessen)
(only full simulations considered, no arcade)

FS2020 ranks 155th among the currently most played PC games.

You can take the tone of the forums to gauge the quality if the sim, but what do your own eyes and ears tell you? I see a lot of ‘howling with the wolfs’ taking place here. Yes, there are issues, and these need and will be addressed. But to which level these affect your enjoyment of the sim is utterly up to yourself. Don’t let some posts bog you down is my advise. Fly the sim yourself in the state it is in now (the best ever, over the whole board, in my opinion). See if you enjoy it or not and that’s the only gauge you should believe
Good luck and fly safely :grinning:

I have both P3D V5.3 (plus hotfix) and MSFS installed, my rig is a Ryzen 9 , 5900X with a RTX3080ti.
I have been involved in flight swimming since Noah was a boy, whilst I had very grave doubts earlier on in regard to MSFS, I have to admit , it is now my go to product. Is it perfect? No….but I seem to be having a good run in the last few months.
I have pretty well everything turned up to max, locked at 30fps with vert sync on…I have a silky smooth experience, the only time I have a degradation in fps is when I have undocked screens (PFD and ND) to a 3rd monitor, and that usually only occurs when very low to the ground. However, using Simplugins or Air Manager, fps remains solid at 30.
I stopped mucking around with Nvidia settings, and now leave everything at default, which has maintained stability……touch wood.

LOL. Because it’s a world-wide game on two platforms. It is a very complex piece of software.

The people most likely to post about it are the ones that are all angry. Their posts stand out more than the people that are happy - because the people that are happy, usually aren’t posting.

Most issues are user generated issues, although most users will not acknowledge it.
Hardware specs, Minimum requirements, Overclocking issues, Dust buildup, Device drivers, Antivirus issues, Network issues, Graphic card drivers, Settings etc. etc. from all over the world. Imagine what a developer must do to consider all these different configuration settings from users and how much redundant but necessary time is assigned to this. Now take the complex flight simulation in all of its glory that is already notorious for it’s legendary poor frame rates. Once you consider all this, many users have no clue but still expect the developers to resolve their every issue that they “the user” have created with so little knowledge of. For me personally, the best flight sim experience without a doubt.
