I didnt have any issues, I made 2 flights on the same day no issues. Maybe so etching with your system or corrupted installation?

Politics, religion and sex can be fascinating subjects to discuss and debate, and as such there are many places online where people engage with these topics.

Let’s see…
VR? No.
Multiple monitor support? No.
Advanced peripheral support? No.
Reliable autopilot? No.
Reliably remember settings? No.
Third-party utilities (Simconnect) without FPS drop? No.
X-plane checks all those boxes. This checks none of them. All of those issues were brought up by Alpha testers over at least the last 6 months. Only VR was given a firm target for implementation. A lot of people have thousands of dollars invested in home cockpits that they can’t use with this.
Also, as gorgeous as the scenery is, compare what you see to the launch video over a year ago.
Hi,
Mine has now crashed 3 times and now on restart went for an update so when it restarted it got stuck on the TMB screen!
They are looking into it but your big game to reinstall with a slow connection at this point.
Question i don’t seem to have a solo folder in my c: drive called MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR that’s not normal right? mine seem to be all over the place in appdata just wondering is yours the same?
cheers
Um, I disagree for the most part. On the remainder, I personally can’t offer an opinion.
VR: Wasn’t in the initial spec, was added late in development due to popular demand, so naturally isn’t available at launch, but definitely is coming before Xmas. In the meantime, you’ve got TIR, which IMHO is better because WAY cheaper (also it works great).
Multiple Monitors: You win this one. I myself, however, only use 1 monitor so this doesn’t bother me at all.
Advanced Peripheral Support: Without you defining what you mean by “advanced”, there’s no way for anybody to agree or disagree with this. I myself am able to use the full functionality of my own controllers so am quite happy with what the game provides. Now, I’ve heard that those with home cockpits are miffed there’s currently no way to hide the in-game instrument panel so they feel left out. And I feel for them, as those things ain’t cheap. But such folks are by far the minority and will become even a smaller minority once this hits Xbox, so their demands have pretty low priority. Sorry, that’s a business decision, not a fault of the game itself.
Reliable Autopilot: Um, what planes are you flying? I don’t do tubeliners. But the GA autopilots work well enough for me.
Reliably Remember Settings: Never had any problem with this, now or in the test builds since May. If you can’t save your settings, you’re doing something wrong.
3rd Party Stuff: I have no opinion, not having used such things before. Sorry they’re not working for you. But is your experience even typical? You provide no supporting evidence to that, only your own gripes. Meanwhile, folks ignorant of such things don’t notice the lack.
Are you serious? dude I’m 18, not “old guard.” I got into sims with FSX and X-Plane 10, I just enjoy the more technical part of the simulation. I find your entire argument ridiculous. “you’re criticism is invalid because if you dont look at what’s wrong, everything is fine.” What an asinine concept. Also (as you say) even GA isn’t properly simulated. the sim was not ready for release. accept it.
Go to this page. Nothing besides the yoke, pedals, and throttle quadrant work out of the box.
Third party utilities: Yes, my experience is typical. Search the forums.
Minority? You basically confirmed what many have said that this is a game, not a simulator.
I’ve been watching this sim vs game debate for decades now…
Can we all just agree,…that pineapple doesn’t go on pizza?
Just say’n.
Absolutely. I thought I made that perfectly clear.
So, you admit you have little to no experience of any aspect of adult life? That you’re the same age as my oldest grandchildren? OK, I’ll take that into consideration in our future conversations
No shame in that. I find this a fascinating subject myself (and have for, I don’t know, maybe 2.5x as long as you’ve been alive). Still, I’m always learning more about it and, as it’s not what pays my rent or puts food on my table, it’s never been a total obsession so I readily admit to not being an expert on such matters despite decades of interest. Yet even those who have made such matters their livelihood are themselves always learning (at least if they’re smart). Take that into account in the future before you make categorical statements on subjects on which you’re not qualified to pronounce.
I said nothing of the sort. I merely asked if you, personally, are able to fly without an FMS. The tubeliner FMS is probably the least-functional aspect of this game, so those who rely on it are the most likely to say that this game can’t “SIMULATE a flight from Point A to Point B”, because they don’t know how to do it any other way. Go read up on recent airliner crashes (that weren’t shot down or blown up) and see for yourself. And I merely pointed out that those who know their way around stick-and-rudder, and the less “technical” but more fundamental aspects of flying, and like it that way, are pretty unanimous in saying that this game actually does “SIMULATE a flight from Point A to Point B” quite well.
I never said this game as a whole, or any aspect of it, is perfect. In fact, I pointed out the many flaws in the tubeliner automation, the GA automation, and even some basic flaws in the VFR flight model. And this is even without getting into the various issues with Live Weather, AI traffic, imperfect scenery, what have you. But in terms of actual FLIGHT, as in you actually flying the plane instead of letting a computer do it for you, and as long as you’re not pushing the edges of the envelope, it SIMULATES just fine.
Well, sorry you’re having problems. Like I said, that’s all beyond my ken but I’m sorry that it’s negatively impacting your enjoyment.
Oh I totally get that! Nothing beats playing with the actual peripherals. Inhale to play with a controller for the first few days while I waited on my hotas to come in and that made it so much better. What I’m hoping they do is just add a new difficulty setting, so that way casual players can have an arcade like flyer, and simmers can get all the realism with the aircraft that they can handle! I’m excited to see what the future holds!
I for one have stopped making comments for or against this flight sim. Because no one is listening. Very Sad.
So not to get more frustrated I have come to the following conclusion.
-
Microsoft Flight SIM as a nice VFR flight sim system and I will use it as such.
-
I will continue to use P3Dv5 for all my IFR flights.
Till Microsoft understands the multiple problems with their system for serious simmers and actual pilots.
I hope they listen but I will be happy either way.
Thank You
It’s simple, really. The people enjoying it are playing it. The vast majority of players are online without a care in the world enjoying their product.
People like to complain, at no one in particular, when they have a problem. Forums are often the place where people come to shout into an empty void. Rarely does anything come of it - don’t get me wrong - sometimes it does. But most of us on the internet these days just stay away from General Discussion Fourms, because it’s 90% threads that should be in the Tech Support section.
People ain’t here to find answers, they’re here to complain and throw a strop because that’s the internet in 2020.
And then you have people like me who set the autopilot up and then opened this up on another monitor while sipping a cup of tea on a nice long flight.
Nailed it. Good job.
Well Said.
Simmer’s have patience, they are used to wait. Gamer’s not, with gamepass they flooded the game with people just wanna jump into a plane and dont care. That would be my explanation.
Are you using Bluetooth devices by chance? I’ve eliminated crashes by unplugging the bluetooth dongle from my computer and using a wired keyboard and headphones.
I guess what happened is that the management from Microsoft decided the release the sim early to gain a higher market share as everyone was at home during lockdown.
It made the perfect PR opportunity to claim ‘fly around the world from the comfort of your home’. Smart thing to do.
But I also think there was heavy pushback from Asobo as they tried to convince MS that the sim isn’t ready.
The execs at MS weighed the pros and cons of releasing early. Pros being higher sales, cons bring initial backlash from lots of bugs crippling basic functionality. They went with the early release option and thought they could redeem themselves through subsequent updates.
I guess only time will tell.
So what? Xplane runs on mobile phones.
because I was an alpha and beta tester
because I reported numerous bugs - nothing was done.
because the ‘thank you’ that I got from being an alpha tester is the inability to post new posts.
Thanks Asobo.
