Why were bush trips totally removed?

We don’t need/want transitory events which serve MS marketing needs more than user needs/wants.

Just give us a decent mission editor (that was supposed to be in 2020 and is still MIA) and people can make/share their own bush trips and other types of missions. The SDK had stubs for it in the docs, but they remained “work in progress”.

If the career mode had been designed properly it would have been built on a robust mission editor system but given the number of issues career mode still has it doesn’t seem very robust, however they are currently building them.

Not holding my breath on ever getting a mission editor though, unfortunately.

I know it’s potentially a non-trivial system to build and maintain if you went all out (no need to do that either though, KISS initially), but it’s such an obvious, and common, tool in simulation systems I can’t understand why it’s not a priority for MSFS, especially when the core lesson they got from their user survey was “PEOPLE WANT MORE THINGS TO DO”.

While the bespoke activities/challenges are a partial solution to this, they are limited to what is officially released. The obvious solution is to unlock User Generated Content creation with a robust mission editor tool. A marketplace and curation of that UGC would arise out of that naturally, as long as the tool was well designed and robust. cough
