Exactly. If MSFS hadn’t have come along LR wouldn’t have been pushing an XP12, instead working on the 11.6 Beta.
I would personally love to see some screenshots of the before, after changing the LOD in the Config.opt file. I changed mine to 9.0 for both terrain and objects and I see no change in the quality.
Here is 2.0 for both terrain and object:
Here is 9.0 for both terrain and object:
I have a red line for the tree draw distance.
I see absolutely no difference. For those saying just change the LOD and it will be the same as previous, just not seeing it…
ETA: apologize that these were not taken at the same spot at the airport
lol… sorry i need to brake after read title
Also, the developer FPS doesn’t show my GPU fames anymore. Anyone else have this issue?
Yes, same.
There is no firm evidence it has been bottlenecked. Some people report graphical bugs and then melodramatically and irrationally claim this is deliberate. But there is no one showing firm evidence of an actual downgrade. Personally I see a big upgrade as I can comfortable run on higher settings now.
“There’s no one showing firm evidence of an actual downgrade” … I suggest you to look better
I note you haven’t provided any. I am looking at my own system and seeing none.
If you were not previously running on ultra and have been able to turn sliders up from this update then you will not notice any downgrades. But for those of us who were previously running on ultra we are seeing massive downgrades visually. Suggest you check various threads here, plenty of screenshots/videos floating around demonstrating it.
I knew it! The press any button to start screen is back for the console version. I predicted it would be months ago. It took ages of repeated requests for this unnecessary screen to be removed, and I assumed back then that the reason it took so long was not technical.
Somebody(s) higher up really wants that attract sequence there.
Actually this “press any button” screen is also still showing on the PC version when there’s an Internet connection issue.
P.S. Also everyone, please, stay civil on this topic Even if we have different opinions there’s no reasons for name calling. After all we still want the same goal - the decent looking Sim.
I haven’t seen that screen since they begrudgingly patched it out for the PC version. It took a concerted effort by the community, with it being the by far highest voted wish list topic, for them to remove it. It was beginning to make them look a little silly by ignoring it, I think, but finally they caved in to community pressure.
I wonder if console users will have a mechanism to skip the intro videos?
i dont mind editing a bit, if people cannot handle workarounds, maybe better not play this game.
Please vote here !
Regarding manually editting the CFG file to increase the LODs. This will increase the distance that new objects are rendered, but it doesn’t help the 1-2 second pop in/pop out when you turn your head to look at something.
Personally I am happy with the render distance at LOD 100-200, but I want nearby objects to be there when I look at them…
I certainly do not mind myself, half ot it is fun experimenting but, as another said, today we should have no need to.
Just FYI - it’s far less noticeable in the cockpit, in 3rd P you really notice the LOD, draw in issues…
This should have been an option, or slider so that it can be adjusted to tailor it to a given system. It’s disappointing to see such decisions. If one of the big reasons behind the performance improvements was to move the glass cockpit rendering to its own thread, why was this change made?
A quick search seems to indicate the XBox Series X has a 10+6GB shared video memory architecture. I’m guessing that anyone with a GPU with more memory than this will not see this utilised now?
LOL, one of the few CTDs I’ve had in the last year was when I did this
Indeed, please vote in the wishlist thread, its currently around 300 votes [Slider to adjust/disable the scenery culling (reduce panning pop-in and stutters) - #62 by RebuffedBee9595]
As per the wishlist thread it is super noticeable in VR or when flying “properly”, ie at legal altitudes and visually checking / rechecking the runway whilst flying circuits etc.
