Working Title G1000 NXi Discussion Thread

Which plane?

Reducing power in anticipation of GS capture is vital to a stabilized approach. If you’re still at cruise when GS captures, you’re going to fly out of the cone and be way out of position, forcing a Go-Around.

I fly the TD version of the Skyhawk a lot, and by experience and some reading of real world use, a 30 percent torque setting by the time I’m at FAF is an excellent starting point. Adjust slightly during Final for any wind effects. At two miles, Flaps 1, then at MDA, disconnect AP, reduce power and pitch slightly for the flare.

In short, watch the diamond and adjust power, because AP is controlling pitch once GS capture is made.

Offline AI Traffic display is functional in SU10, with the SU10 version of the NXi.

Ensure you have the right traffic settings set on the unit. Normal settings only display traffic +/-2900 ft from your present altitude, and traffic on the ground will never be displayed. You can change to UNRES if you want to expand the window to +/-9900 ft. Maximum traffic distance is 40NM.

Thanks Matt. Must be my settings. Awesome work!

I am going to try a different plane as I am flying the Default Bonanza G36 with no mods except the G1000Nxi. In addition, I have no AI traffic, plus I have no weather, which is off. I have no problem with RNAV approaches, they work great.

I have high end controllers, a Virpil throttle and VKB joystick.

I have been thinking of purchasing the Kodiak 100, which will use the G1000Nxi. I suspect it may be the default aircraft as I notice during cruise in autopilot, the plane does not fly smoothly.

I will get back to this thread later!

The default G36 with the Nxi can normally hold the GS just fine, provided you intercept it correctly and there’s no hardware conflict. Easiest option is to already be configured with flaps set to approach and power set for 95 KIAS, when you capture the GS select gear down. The increased drag from the gear should be offset by the descent rate required to maintain GS and you’ll need to make minimal, if any, power changes.

I’m using Modiflight and have built an audio panel. Configured button and get no response on any audio panel buttons. I used the AS1000 value such as AS1000_MID_COM2_push but nothing works. ALL other buttons, encoders on the PFD and MFD work perfect. Anyone have a clue. I see in the Mobiflight logs that the key is seen and the command sent. I am running the SU10 Beta. Does the new G1000NXi work with the audio panel?

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?

No, NXi loads fine in all three aircraft

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:

I was successful using a different A/C (Kodiak 100) yesterday into KSFO. I took extra pain to manage the speed, however didn’t have to deal with flaps because none selected and it is fixed gear.

I never have issues with RNAV approaches, but ILS seems a bit more sensitive!

For some reason neither the G1000 nor the WT G1000NXi will load into the DA62, Bonanza G36, nor the Baron G58. Does anyone have a solution to this? Thank you!

I think this is the only report of this we’ve seen. Can you try with an empty community folder? lt sounds like a mod conflict of some kind.

Also use the default livery for each aircraft

I saw this recently too on SU10. I hadn’t changed anything and then they were all blank the next day.

It seemed to be fixed after I unloaded the community folder with addonlinker. Then when I added everything back it was fine.

Perhaps I missed something small but the only thing I changed was removing some unused duplicate copies of airplanes. But with addonlinker, it shouldn’t have mattered.

For those at are new to using the G1000 and the NXi here is very minimalist video on how to jump in, enter a flight plan, and fly an RNAV approach. Enjoy!

I can go under menu-map-traffic and set the symbol and label to a specific distance, but I don’t see any adjustments for UNRES or any height adjustments.

I do see occasional UNRES message on the far bottom right of my screen but not sure how to adjust it.

ETA: I tested this today and chased some GA traffic. LNM showed an Asobo 172 on their map, and I could see it out my windshield. I was less than 1 mile from it at the same ALT and screen still showed UNRES.

My mistake, I was looking at the main map instead of the traffic map. I changed the settings on the traffic map to UNRES and still don’t see the traffic. Perhaps the generic GA traffic does not show up?

What range do you have set on the map? It won’t show traffic at 250 miles you know.

I have 40 miles set up on the traffic range map as per Matt’s info above. I was using simple traffic and offline GA traffic, but to investigate I currently have a clean community folder and have AI (offline) traffic at 25%. I approached other traffic to the point that I can see them out my window, at the same altitude, and they do not show up on the map. No aircraft with normal or unrestricted altitude modes.

I’m sure I’m missing something simple but not sure what it is yet. I’ll try to post a screenshot. The aircraft show up on LNM.

I think TCAS works with Live Traffic, not Offline.

Previously, but now it should be working for both per WT.
