World Update 23 Poland & the Baltics [Discussion]

During today’s dev stream, Jorg excitedly announced the upcoming World Update 23 Poland & the Baltics, currently planned for October 27, 2026.

The date is probably not final, as Jorg mentioned that they are planning something, but I won’t spoil …
Check out the video below to hear the announcement and find out more.

This is brilliant news! A new part of the world! This is going to make a lot if people very happy!

Been waiting for this for 5 years  :latvia:

Hopefully Estonia will get some touch too..

Estonia might not be Baltic, but they are still Baltic. So yes, they will definitely get some touch.

Nice minor spelling mistake with the “Kasprovy” Wierch PoI, and all the missing diacritics that hopefully will be there in the release
Oh and the GA airport in Warsaw is Babice, not “Barbice”, which I don’t think is even a word

Looks great. But you could do a lot worse than making GREECE your next WU after Poland! :folded_hands:

I got so excited yesterday that I wrote that Jorg is half-Polish. Can anyone confirm whether that’s actually true? His surname doesn’t really sound Polish to me.

They’ve had typos like this before and corrected them in the final release. So it really does matter. Hopefully, these will be fixed before release as well.

That would be awesome! Greece has so much to offer - countless historical sites, beautiful islands, and amazing scenery. There was a period when I used to visit Greece twice a year. I just really love the laid-back atmosphere, the slower pace of life and the friendly people. It’s a place I’ve always felt comfortable in.

True, but the chance is higher if someone points them out

If his family is from Gdańsk then a German-sounding name is nothing special, a former prominent parliamentary in Sejm has the same family name, and he was born a bit south of the big city - remember that this was a part of Germany in the past

Fantastic Poland and An 28 …one of the best releases:smiling_face_with_three_hearts::partying_face: how about release date next month?

Hope it covers FS2020 as well.

Personally, instead of the AN-28, which was developed in the USSR, I’d much rather see the legendary PZL.37 Łoś - a truly Polish aircraft. I still remember it like it was yesterday; it was the first aircraft model I ever built myself, ages ago. I really hope they add it to MSFS someday.

You are speaking with an Antonov fan ,) but An 28 was license built in Poland too

Greece would be excellent if they did.

Great news about World Update Poland!

And hope to see you in Poland Jorg & Team!

But come on it really isn’t that hard to find a famous and interesting polish aircraft.

I think going for non native craft for world update is breaking a good tradition that got people to know aircraft of the region.

Besides already mentioned Łoś to name a few:

PZL TS-11 Iskra - great polish jet trainer:

RWD 6 - on which Poles Żwirko & Wigura won “Challenge 1932” international tourist aircraft contest.

PZL W-3 Sokół - polish multirole helicopter:

And if you’d wanted something faster to develop - then let’s not forget about many world famous polish gliders (Jorg once mentioned he was a glider pilot himself so at least he should know some of them):

SZD-9 Bocian - wooden trainer - here pictured at Bezmiechowa doing pure gravity take off

SZD-50 Puchacz - all around world used trainer (here with Warsaw skyline):

SZD-48 Jantard Standard 3

Would be nice getting also a world update of countries south of Poland, from Czech Republic (Praha!) to Slovenia (Ljubljana!).

Thanks for taking the time to look up and share more Polish aircraft. I really appreciate the contribution to the discussion. There are definitely plenty of interesting Polish aircraft that could fit the World Update 23 perfectly.

Which Polish cities do you guys think will get photogrammetry besides Warsaw and Gdańsk? I think Kraków, Poznań and Wrocław definitely deserve it. What do you think?

Wrocław would be great. I live very close by, so it would be wonderful to finally fly over a real old town  What matters most to me is that they do a major map update, because the satellite imagery used in MSFS is either outdated or of very poor quality. GIS data in Poland is so good that I can count the tiles on my roof, but in the simulator, my house is just a blurry smudge.

Wrocław without its signature erect landmark is an absolute miss, that there isn’t even a tall enough autogen skyscraper is a travesty - surely they would have visited the city

I hope they don’t miss photogrammetry on the Hel Peninsula
