As you know the Alps “start” in Switzerland - and then they “grow over” to Austria.
Just sayin’ ![]()

Well, to be honest, my country Switzerland is pretty much okay’ish (the Alps could improve, yes). The AI does a pretty good job here, and the style of the generated buildings also matches for the most part.
But I also purchased FS2020 to see other countries, in fact. Especially South America - I’d totally love to see Rio de Janeiro in photogrammetric style, for instance.
What I am mostly looking forward to however are improvements in the AI / world generation! Because like this the entire world profits! More diverse “basic building models” mostly, but maybe also improvements in “bridge / train / ship movements / chimneys / smoke”-generation. You know, everything that makes the world “feel alive”!
I hope there is more to come in the next years ![]()
absolutely!
like the Benelux, the alps are covering several countries.
So Switzerland, Italy, Austria and Slovenia would be nice ![]()
Does ‘flying’ in MSFS officially count as ‘homeschool’ - for geography? It should ![]()
I think it really does qualify (and/or tourism). Only going somewhere in person teaches you about the geography of a certain area better. I’m loving geography and I know a lot about geography and the geography of certain countries. But flying there in MSFS takes you one step further. For example I’ve never been to Mallorca and only seen in in the Atlas or in pictures and thougt it was mostly mountains. Yesterday I went to Mallorca in FS and then you see the whole picture, where the mountains are , how high, etc.. It definitely beats any lesson in class.
Yeah. I’ve also gotten into the habit of exploring the places I ‘visit’ in Google Street View wherever possible. It’s really fascinating because MSFS with OnAir has taken me to places I’d never even think of. I wonder how many other people do that too.
I hope they will redo Roissy CDG because it is really not optimized on runway 26R, there is a real problem with this runway, big slowdowns, oddly on runway 25R it’s smooth.
Who cares we really need Australia and NZ done.
What a shame… I want to see Enschede, Utrecht, Wierden and Schubbekutteveen in high res…
So is the United livery which is included. They said in the video that they are licensing everything. I’m sure being one of the largest companies in the World, using a French development studio, they could license the lights for use. The question is though, is it worth it? Do most people that have never been to Paris even know it flashes? I didn’t.
But, it would be cool nonetheless. Anything to add realism is great in my book ![]()
I agree, it would be awesome if they can get the permission to use it.
When it’s flashing, it will be quite useful for night VFR
I agree, but I would be very happy if they just did Vienna at the moment. I live in Wien and I have bought the Schwechat airport addon which is great, but once you leave the vicinity of the airport the city is barely recognisable.
Denmark is not bad at all, and that’s all that matters. ![]()
It’s possible to display the lights of the Eiffel tower at night. They just have to purchase the rights to display it. Just like news stations display clips of sports games.
Denmark is pretty good, Norway, Sweden and Finland not at all. Iceland has a very good add on. Faroe Islands, well I am not sure about it.
It seems unbelievable that the copywrite should apply to a virtual version in a game. Since when has the concept of lights on an object been something that can be copywrite anyway? Its prior art, a known concept, not an original invention, lighting objects has been done for many decades.
Quite some time. You can’t publish photographs of the Eiffel tower at night. Look it up. Last I heard, they were being quite aggressive about it. They want their revenue. The cost of capitalism if you want to get down to it…
From the web:
" It turns out the tower’s nighttime light show was added in 1985 and is therefore still protected under France’s copyright law as an artistic work. Thus, it’s illegal to share, sell, or publish photos and videos of the night-lit Eiffel Tower without prior permission from the Société d’Exploitation de la Tour Eiffel - Oct 13, 2017"
IOW, MS could get permission, just like they get permission for all the other copywritten stuff in the game, which there is more than people know.
Ahh but the copywrite is based on the actual design being a work of art. So a different arrangement of lights which would definitely be the case in the sim is arguably not a copy of the “artistic design” and is therefore not a breach of copywrite law. One for the lawyers I guess.
Just get permission. Case closed.
Cause you know simmers… “Hey!! that’s the wrong color lights!!! Fix it NOWWW!!!” “Hey!! the timing of the flashing is off by 0.3 seconds, how could you mess things up this badly???” ![]()
Oh the Netherlands! Exciting. Watch out the MSA is really high there and there are lots of mountain waves.
