World Update 4: France, Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg

Yeah fair point. I think though if the French are that AR about it, getting that permission may prove to be quite difficult.

In the end, somebody’s going to create a mod for it. I think there already is one.

One would think FS can generate a lot of free exposure for the Eiffel tower.. If I was working in tourism I know I would try to push as many regional highlights into FS as possible.

Good call there.Didn’t think of that. Great news for UK flyers. Should be okay for flights in tbm too :slightly_smiling_face:

Sure, Deelen is still in use, though only for military helicopter training operations ( Chinook, Apache, Cougar)

They need to work on photogrammetry – trust, it’s not all that at the moment.

I’m really hoping to ser tulips in Amsterdam in the spring. That’s a point, are we going to get seasons anytime soon?

This is great news! And, hopefully, a great job ahead.

However, I would recommend that developers pay close attention to cloud layers that you don’t always see at first glance on Bing Maps. In fact, these cloud layers only appear under certain zoom factors on the map, making it difficult to track them down. I had already reported an area of this type in France located east of Oyonnax (in the department of Ain, East of France) extending over a rectangle of several tens of km² (height indicated on Bing Maps: 2000 feet) : in Flight Simulator, in summer, most of the meadows located in this area are transformed into winter ski resorts, which for a flight sim which wants itself very close to the reality of the terrain is not very realistic!

Yes, +1 from me too.

Great scenery there and great flying experiences to be had there too :slightly_smiling_face:

Its hit and miss I admit but in areas where it is working well it looks very good I think, particularly if you fly at realistic altitudes.

I highly doubt they’re following that list. It’s likely just a coincidence that they’re using the same metrics that drive mod usage. There are more mods in those countries because those are the countries with the highest player count. Player count by nation is most likely the stat the devs are using to make those decisions. Those two (player count vs mod count) will probably continue to match up for a few updates before getting skewed.

Well I’ve been doing random house visits around Christmas for decades to see if people have copied my copyrighted christmas tree lighting layout :joy:

But if they would just make the tower flash in a completely different fashion it is hard to claim copyright on that. People who are not living across the street of the real Eiffel tower wouldn’t notice the difference anyway.
