World Update: Brazil

Confirmed to be released in December with the CAP-4 Paulistinha! Finally!

Yeah! Good news! So much to see in Brazil.

I hope they improve the Tepuis region and make the Mount Roraima which is separated between Brazil and Venezuela and the Wei Assipu tepui, both in the Parque National do Monte Roraima, Brazil.

This is a correction effort with the SDK but the result is ish:

that is frankly a must. I hope they include Angel falls, although it’s on the venezuelan side

If anyone needs something to tide them over until the CAP-4 Paulistinha comes along, I made a semi-fictional livery for the (excellent) Classic Aircraft Simulations Piper J-3 Cub!

Brazil and Guayanas world update is coming, but I’ve been wondering: has Asobo considered tunning flora at the south of Brazil to have Araucaria angustifolia? It’s so characteristic of that region that it won’t be an accurate world representation without them.

These ones are at the entrance of SBBI, with circa 30k landings and takeoffs yearly:

Hopefully, they might feature in FS2024, as it has multiple, area specific biomes and flora. Will have to wait and see.

From the latest presentations by MS/Asobo, it can be assumed that the promised WU19 (tentatively named Brazil at first) is now referred to as “Brazil, the Guyanas and Suriname”.
That name will not correspond to reality.
The latest info on available satellite data presented by the developers provided shows clearly that no Brazilian regions are part of the data they now have available, except for some of the South (parts of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and the Iguaçu Falls region).

Capture from a developer Q&A - satellite data

The Guyanas, however, are pretty much all covered by the data.
It’s safe to say WU19 will not bring about any improvements to Brazilian scenery, except for a handmade SBRJ. Even that’s a lazy move, since Rio de Janeiro’s other major airport is already in 2020.
Simply put, there is no WU for Brazil prepared or even in Asobo’s plans.
I understand that it’s an enormous country, not easy to map at all. So I propose a simple solution: call WU19 what it is (“The Guyanas and Suriname”). Brazilian MSFS can then continue requesting a Brazilian WU. Maybe one day…

Edit: I had put in WU18 incorrectly, rather than 19. Thanks to @DementedCorn327 for the heads up!

World Updates are more than just satellite imagery though. Wait and see what POI’s and (hopefully) TIN (photogrammetry) cities they include.

Good point. I admit I’m not optimistic about that either. Jörg Neumann himself confirmed SBRJ is one of the handmade airports and Rio itself has very few POIs and no PG, so that’s probably on the pipeline. That’s just one city; I’d be shocked if any other Brazilian big city got any love, let alone sprawling Sao Paulo or Brasilia, the capital. After all, you’d still need at least one PG city, handmade airport and POIs for British Guyana, French Guyana and Suriname (each). Brazilians if they’re anything like me, will likely bemoan a “WU Brazil” with so little of… Brazil.

It will be WU19 not WU18 (was Germany, Austria, and Switzerland).

WU19 was discussed at the end of the September 2024 Developer Live Stream:

Well, there’s two POIs outside Rio de Janeiro, it’s already more than I expected o/

4 TIN AOIs
7 airports
75 POIs
From the map they show, the POIs seam to cover the whole Brazil.
Example: Mount Roraima is clearly there.
Fighers crossed for good spread of the POIs.

And now after seeing how the new sim was released, I’m afraid that sim update and world update for 2020 will be delayed. Or even it can be worse the dev will just abandon it fixing 2024 instead.

It’s already January 2025, and no WU19 yet. Buying MSFS 2024 was not a priority to me, since it would demand almost a new computer, but the total lack of attention to the region of the world where I live shows that I should not invest more in MSFS anyway.

I have the same question, we were promised Brazil in December 24, which got put back to January 25.

We were also promised SU update around the same time, which has also been delayed.

Jorg said in the last Dev Stream that by way of compensation to all the issues with 2024, we would be receiving a few Local Legends free of charge.

There has been no Dev Stream mentioned so far in January and the issues with 2024 don’t seem to be getting any better.

Are we to assume that priority of Microsoft/Asobe is to 2024 and we, 2020 users are being denied updates for an unspecified time-frame till 2024 is a more stable, better product.

I feel that as a 2020 user, we are being side-lined in favor of the new 2024 issues.
