World update for England and Ireland

How will this update effect market place add ons such as Heathrow and London scenery already purchsed and installed?

Hi there,

Just a heads up: The world update is not just for England. It includes Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Isle of Man, and Sealand (if you haven’t heard of Sealand, click here).

The answer is, it depends on the developer. Most developers would adjust their airports or scenery and put out an update pretty quickly. In the Marketplace, the update may lag behind a little due to the ingestion process, but it would still be out in a few weeks.

Just another heads up that a similar topic opened up today here, asking the same question. I agree with JakTrax78’s answer: “The more reputable developers will adjust their products accordingly, to accommodate each World Update.”

This is coming out next week as WU17? The roadmap still says TBD.

Check today’s dev update. Tuesday for WU17.

World Update XVII will release next week on Tuesday, July 23.

Plus also Gibraltar according to Jorg on the Developer Live Stream this week…

Just like with the CU for Las Vegas I assume you’ll be able to disable parts of the WU. For example, let’s say you already have a payware airport for EGSS and you really enjoy it then I’d guess you’d be able to uninstall the EGSS that comes with the WU. Just like KLAS if you already have FlyTampa Las Vegas and prefer that one.

Ok thanks for that much appreciated

OP profile shows Xbox so in that case, Asobo bespoke airports/sceneries cannot be removed, see that other post talking about that:

Oh, sorry, I don’t have an Xbox so I’m not really thinking about the differences or restrictions that might apply. Thanks for pointing that out, that’s a good and important point.

I’m really looking forward to the DEM improvements and the lush green of Wales. Looks great in those screenshots. And as a VFR person I really like the Maunsell Forts, such a fascinating and strange installation.

Yes me too i do a lot of VFR flying over the UK having originating from there im very familiar with the landmarks and scenery etc.

Scotland, Wales and Ireland are definitely not regions, they are countries or nations.

Great Britain is an island separated from the European mainland by the English Channel and North Sea. It comprises the nations of England, Scotland and Wales. Its long history is evident in prehistoric sites such as Neolithic Stonehenge and medieval castles like those at Warwick, Dover and Caernarfon. Roman ruins include Hadrian’s Wall, which once divided Roman Britain from the northern Scottish Lowlands.

I was speaking broadly im definitely aware they are countries!

I should know im from there !

Glastonbury Tor. That is traditionally where King Arthur had his fortress.

Great to see Glastonbury Tor. I have a freeware addon which only pops up when you are right on top of it. I can’t believe that nobody has ever added Wells Cathedral close by (not Asobo, ORBX or any other dev).

Greatly looking forward to the update - it looks excellent. Not long to wait now.

Also Tintagel in Cornwall. There are as many locations claimed as Camelot as there are people labelled as the Fifth Beatle.
