Second major outage in just a few weeks, absolutely unbelievable.
What is the saying? Once is by chance. Twice is a coincidence. Three times is a pattern.
Microsoft Store and Subscriptions just went down as well…
It should tell us there’s an outtage, not that we need to insert a disc. You’d think handling errors would be an area microsoft would have down by now.
I can’t start fs 2020. It ask for me to insert disc. If I select continue it stays at the startup screen. If I select stop it stops, but I have to use task manager to close it. I haven’t used it for a couple of days. When I look in the ms-store it only shows my digital ownership under library. I didn’t see any messages about not loading the sim.

It’s be less frustrating if the situation was improving, but outages just keep getting worse / more frequent and with more serious side effects like profiles getting wiped.
And afterwards just brushed aside with ‘thank you for your patience’.
These outages can occur for so many reasons… In the meantime we still have access to the forum and can continue sharing MSFS 2020 tips and hints or just generally chatting about all things related to our shared interests in flight simulators. This will be resolved with time. Regards, a dude from Australia. ![]()
Finally I got here for the same issue.
My other mistake i did also the unistall the sim and reinstall it…
So i lost all community mods and not fixed at all!!!
i will wait for xbox to fix it…■■■■ never happened before
Where’s the outage banner when you need it
LOL. No outage banner for you!
Between the upgrade fiascos, and being dependent upon XBOX Live, I am switching to Xplane. This is ridiculous.
The silence from MS officials on here is deafening.
What I really do not understand is what is the point of the “launcher” app that runs prior to launching the actual sim?
Why doesn’t that thing have any sort of error handling to tell the user that there is a server outage, etc.?
I hope they have a more robust online notification system in place for 2024.
I feel badly for the misinformed who go straight to reinstalling the sim.

Xplane is not even close to MSFS 2020. Austin just does not have the budget to provide what Microsoft can.
What would you expect them to tell us? Azure Cloud server and the Xbox Core Live services are rather secure & complex services.
Many years ago as a Playstation follower I endured 6 MONTHS!!! Try that on for size.
Well you have the Core data on a BluRay MSFS 2020 disc. I have the digital version and while it tells me that I cannot connect to Live, because I already have the Core game data on my SSD so I don’t get the disc insert warning. Don’t stress as there’s no way that will ever change until you go to full digital content as myself and most others have. Just relax.
Well I’m aware they are aware but appreciate the heads up! Thanks.
How about a pop-up window on this forum whenever it is accessed saying “We are aware you cannot use MSFS2020 at this time, we’re working on it”.
Some kind of proactive action to show a little respect to the customers ?
The benefits Cloud online services greatly outweigh the occasional rare disadvantage of offline status. Really. It will be resolved in due course.
The forum mod has just left a post that Microsoft are aware of the issue. I can’t see how a “popup” anything is going to help to be honest?
