Xbox/PC screens go black then CTD

Is it just me, or does it looks like the reports of the issues are increasing since the last update?

Looks that way but I have no issues atm enjoying this build

No problems either, if Iā€™m honest. Only with LOWW by Gaya, that just wonā€™t work without getting a CTD.

I have just had low fps landing at Heathrow hand crafted made it very difficult to land as the sim kept playing catch up my first issue so far

I hope the same as you. Its be so overdue for the fix. Problem is with me is that when i go on the sim i have the problem of avionics not lit . On a320 neo and a310 plus the caravan . Its gets me so frustrated just starting it up and finding fault. Then seeing all freebees for the pc version. I know its voming to xbox but when? Im still waiting for aerosoft north sea and now ive heard they have one for the gulf of Mexico.

ā€œUsually when the screens go black they restart and reappear after a little while, maybe a minute? Donā€™t abandon the flight right away, give it a little time to see if they come back. I think Asobo implemented this as a stop gap workaround a few SU ago.ā€

How do you quote correctly. Lol.

Wait sorry - so that text, was this a confirmed thing?

Hi together.
I fly on Box x since 1 month. All works fine.
Since yesterday I have the problem with black avionics.

Kingair 350 and 320 Neo, in flight or on ground, different times and situations

Is there a fix?

No fix yet. If you have third party airports removing them may help.

It seems random but less frequent than it was for most users. Sorry.

So hereā€™s an interesting one that happened to me yesterday.

It actually started the day before, flying the A310 from Impulse Simulations YPAD to default YBCS in the A310. By the time Iā€™ve planned the flight on simbrief, entered the route into world map, started cold and dark using full realism and checklists, manually entered route into FMS etc and am ready to roll Iā€™ve easily spent an hour on the flight already. As I taxi approaching the runway for takeoff, boom black screens.

Unsurprisingly I was pretty frustrated so I parked there and waited to see if the screens restarted and came back to life. After a few minutes they did not so I quit and did something less frustrating.

So yesterday I thought Iā€™d have one more go at that flight. Did all the same stuff and boom, approaching the runway black screens again. I didnā€™t break the controller but I was pretty frustrated. After a couple of minutes it did not recover. But then I thought sod it Iā€™ll fly anyway. The A310 has gauges so I decided to at least take off, and fly around enjoying the view for a while.

I took off with no problems with screens and autopilot display all blank. Positive rate gear up, start retracting flaps. Then I activated autopilot to see if it would work, and lo and behold the screens all restarted at the exact moment of autopilot activation. Everything still programmed and I finished the whole 3h flight perfectly with no further issues.

Seems odd to me that it would be coupled to autopilot in this way but next time I get black screens on the ground Iā€™m going to take off anyway and hopefully it comes good.

Oh and for the record, spectacular views looking out of the window on that route.

Maybe the AAU1 Update brings this issue?!
I have the problems since Friday.

Before Friday all was fine :frowning:

There are 2.5k posts on this thread. This has been broken since forever.

I Play 1 month without any issue - and now - from yesterday to today - there is the black screen issue.

I donā€™t understand that.
Before the AAU1 update last week I think it works fine on my box :frowning:

The black screens are indeed still an issue. For me, it heavily depends from and to which airport you fly from which developer.

Letā€™s hope SU12 betas will further improve the stability.

Edit: today the black screens are really bad. Departing from Rome, arriving at Luqae Malta both 3rd party two times black avionics.

Also, look at the parked ā€œcars and bussesā€. I notice this for quite some time now. If itā€™s for performance and stability increase, I understand it. But it looks weird.

This has been going on for awhile now ā€” the reduced Object LOD.

It drove me a bit crazy during that era of the sim when you and I got into our spat over graphic quality vs. CTDs prior to the AAU1 beta.

I definitely still see the low quality objects when I look out the cockpit window of an airliner while doing preflight. Often the vehicles parked at the very gate where my aircraft is parked look extremely poor quality.

It is a bit of a drag. Iā€™d rather they just not get drawn than look ridiculously low quality. Iā€™m talking about hexagonal-shaped wheels bad.

Yes, agreed Iā€™m seeing the same. I still stand by my opinion that if this is necessary to increase performance and stability then personally Iā€™m alright with that. If thereā€™s one thing I really canā€™t stand, is getting CTDā€™s, followed by the black screen avionics. The latter was really bad today, for some reason I canā€™t explain.

If it is deliberately happening to help alleviate the CTDs then, again, Iā€™d rather they just didnā€™t draw the object entirely rather than give us childā€™s cartoon quality objects. It looks ridiculously stupid filling that parking lot with low-poly solid-color ā€œcarsā€ than it would partially empty.

Why do I want to look out my cockpit window to see some utility vehicle that looks horrible? Just donā€™t draw it!

Again, completely agreed with you. They should be really careful what they are willing to render on screen, given the ā€œlimitedā€ amount of recourses available.

What I think is funny is I believe this same thing happened before SU11. During the beta for that update, everything was working great. Then, once the full version of the update released, it became an issue again. Same thing here with the AAU1 update.
