Xbox users only - black screen / ctd discussion

I think the best thing to do is simply install the scenery that you want to fly to. As soon as I have an issue I uninstall that scenery package for the time being

Exactly wtb2602 I agree with your view.

I’m glad most people are able to use the simulator on Xbox. It should work long enough for the new consoles which will I understand (or may) come out as early as 2025 (new not a revamp).

Not before the end of 2026 according to the most recent roadmap (fake or legit).

United I read that MS want to steal the march on Sony and release their new console a full year or more ahead of any PS6…

I read that on some tech website… apparently a source at MS said …type story…

Definitely won’t be an interim Xbox X upgrade now .. it’ll be straight to new console…

All other bug report pages have some discussion permitted except that one. Anything other than a bug report on the form gets kicked here.

Why is that and how is that fair.

Are they trying to make that inactive so they can close it???

I’m on series X and decided to give the 747 a go the other day due to issues with the A310 (permanent black screens since last AIRAC update) and it’s super laggy so not surprised that it’s causing issues on the series S. it needs to be better optimised for the Xbox as the avionics upgrade that they did for it and the 787, while really good, has killed the performance

PS5 Pro fall 2024-New Series consoles fall 2026- PS6 2028 is what I read.

I joined the Xbox stability beta earlier and have had three CTDs in a short space of time. Anyone else getting more crashes during participation?

Yes I’m getting loads more CTDs and blackscreens it’s becoming a pain, but I really want them to see the data. I fly the 747 mostly and it’s a complete mess of an aircraft at the moment, the only plane that works flawlessly is the PMDG, it’s almost as though they want us to ditch the defaults and spend money on the MP. Funny how the A310 went bad when the A300 got released.

3 flights in a row in the middle of nowhere. Interesting things, I did a « vanilla install » as support suggested. Tried the same flight, same route, and the game freeze 94 nm before the same waypoint…

I’m not getting tons of CTD the odd one or two when memory gets low. For me it’s the amount of stutters I never got before SU14 came alone. It’s everywhere even at small airfields. xbox X

Yes, stuttering is a pain and I’ve also had a couple of CTDs lately mid-flight, when nothing of significance is being rendered on screen (they were, however, before I joined the stability beta).

Flying around the Caribbean using Asobo hand-crafted, Bravoairspace and SLH airports is still solid though, in the selection of aircraft I’ve tried (which now includes the PMDG DC-6).

I had so many CTDs and BS with the current Xbox beta that it was definitely no fun anymore. Especially as the performance had already dropped significantly with SU 14. That’s why I left the beta again. Even though I think it’s important that Asobo receives the data.

On the other hand, I think that we all have the same reasons for recurring crashes. Namely, poorly optimized addons that cause the VRAM to overflow. And in some cases perhaps overloaded servers, which also lead to crashes and black screens. However, Asobo does not need tons of data for either of these findings.

I just want to know if they log black screens, besides the CTD’s. Still no answer.

Also, when in the beta, can they see the memory usage?? Stutters-black screens-eventually a CTD, in that order. Memory consumption must be visible whit their tool?

I’m pretty much finding that nearly every single issue I have is with third party adds. SU9 was a build loaded with problems, funny I’m seeing some of the same issues, and a LOT of it is with ‘animated’ objects in third party scenery. SU10 finally fixed it after a couple patches.

Vegas is LOADED with them, including display screens and they added the Sphere, which is when everything fell apart for XBOX. Vegas was a one-two blow as they added the Sphere at the same time 14 dropped. Used to have no issues even with helis darn near getting washed by the Bellagio fountains.

Even ones that don’t typically give me issues, Julianna and Grand Case both have animated people at the beach and in the terminal(Grand Case). The airports load in fine as the LOD drops come in, as soon as the beach animated people, or approaching the terminal at Grand Case the chugging starts. It’ doesn’t black screen or crash, but chugs the instant they drop in. Granted I’m not flying into them with a 737, usually at the most ‘sophisticated’ with G1000 aircraft. In SU9 this was an immediate kiss of death, up until the very last of the beta for 14 it was fine then started with issues again.

Dillingham in HI same thing, the little animated sailplane(which should go away as it just makes stupid circles) on the hill, as soon as it loads in, chug chug chug. SU9 was so bad that the birds and Global Shipping didn’t work, but in it’s current state 14 seems ‘triggered’ by some of the same things I became so hyper-focused on during 9. It was all good through 13.
Some other airports I uninstalled and reinstalled and it fixed little issues.

They are saying Washington DC scenery causes issues(it does on mine)when it was again, ruined in 9, fine until 13. DC Scenery has a train that crosses the Potomac next to the 14st bridge. The DCA airport has a moving metro train, haven’t flown close enough to see if it chuggs out when the LOD setting hits for that one yet. You have to get pretty close before it loads in.

I’ve been in ‘G1000 land’ lately, or standard GNS or steam aircraft. I will tell you if there is a conflict, the G3X is particularly miserable for lagging the system. Considering how it’s near useless already and underdeveloped, it’s strange three G1000 screens perform better than one G3X.

I think it’s mainly the high resolution textures that cause problems and should be optimized in many addons. I really have a lot of airports with animations and animated people that still run very well. Yesterday I bought EDDN. That’s the best example. It has a lot of animations and animated people. But it still runs smooth as butter. But it has the standard satellite images on the land side and the resolution of the textures on buildings is greatly reduced. I think that helps a lot. KSAT, on the other hand, has hardly any animations and no people, but everything is very high resolution. And the performance is terrible. With SU 14 it no longer runs at all.

But in the end it’s certainly a combination of several factors.

Keep in mind though that most of my problem children are relatively older add-ons. That came before birds or GS.

I have to see if London City(landmarks) has animations somewhere, it’s been problematic for me but used to be butter smooth with both main airports, global shipping loading the channel and birds, etc. I had to take it off.

I thought this pack was unusable on console due to duplicate scenery?

I’m having to put some of my reviews on hold as the testing was mostly done under SU13. Now that 14’s come along, I’m seeing issues at airports that were not troublesome before. Drzewiecki’s EPKK wasn’t perfect in SU13 but it’s way more temperamental in 14! Also, Northern Sky’s Alaskan airports seem a little more easily triggered now — it’s so hard to tell if what you think’s happening is in fact happening, or if the placebo effect’s taking hold…
