Personal Comments and Observations
Just saw this on my feed:
Also - they liked their own post. Hm.
Is this a full Carenado release I wonder or a neutered Asobo free one.
Meh, of all the planes they picked the half sister to the one we already have?
And why not the 33C, which is rated for aerobatics? Seems like an opportunity wasted.
It’s their own studio release.
All I know is, we can be guaranteed to have an overly aggressive window tint heh. Just look at the screenshots now.
Because it’s been the F33A the last 5 times they released it.
You mean the non-MSFS releases, right?
So the 33A is ported, and not a gound-up build?
Oh, I’m sure they’ve touched up the 3d model a bit to look more ‘modern’, but the flight model will be the same parameters over and over again.
Maybe this time the hobbs on it might work though.
I’ll stick with my G36 Improvement Project and eschew the Cuban 8’s.
Always liked this one over the V-tail, and presuming it’ll come out for 2020 a month or two later, just like the 182Q.
Is this G36 Improvement Project the same as the Arantis Simulations G36 mod?
No. That’s a new one. I’ve downloaded the Arantis mod but haven’t flown it yet. At first glance it looks really good.
I’m referring to the G36 Improvement Project by captmatteo, available on flightsim.to.
It’s a 2020 model, but it works really well (insofar as I’ve delved into it) in FS2024.
It’s one of my Top Ten planes.
Oh, ok. I heard captmatto was also the Arantissim dev, probably bad info then. Thanks.
Maybe it is the same dev! I’ll ask that question on the Arantis Discord.
I believe the ‘captmatteo’ one was designed by Marwan Gharib, who also did the excellent HJet.
I’m still waiting on their Cessna C206! I miss that plane so much because it’s so versatile!
Think I’ll stick with A2A and just wait.
Arantis has a Turbo Mod for the G36 in 2020, I use that a lot. They are putting up a high fidelity G36 Naturally Aspirated mod in 2024, comparable to CaptMatteo’s. Arantis said the Turbo Mod for '24 will come later.
Every… Single… Carenado… Release… Is “ported”. I hate that term and connotation.
Nearly every single plane released to date for MSFS is “ported”, having been started from existing assets from FSX and other sims and upgraded to MSFS.
Just as much as Boeing “ported” the real-world 737 from the 727 - it is rare (and for good reason) that anyone in any creative/design space actually does something entirely brand new and from nothing. We have high quality products because they are iterative and take things from the past and improve upon them.
I appreciate when some make the distinction with the term “straight port” which is exactly as it sounds - they took the product from one platform, made the absolute bare minimum of changes to allow it to function, and put it in the new platform. I don’t really believe that’s what most payware developers are doing, otherwise they’d be churning out quite a few more aircraft at higher rates for the profits alone.
Exactly. That’s why I hate it when people complain that products are “ports” from previous products.
Sure, “straight ports” are something to stay away from. But to call Carenado aircraft “ports” is an insult and misleading.
Sure, people can complain that they’re not “study level”, it’s perfectly fine to say the system level depth and quality is sub-standard to the user’s desires, but to whine that they’re “ports” is fake news.
