Spitfire purists would point out that the late models had wooden propellers rather than bendy metal ones. But good to see some damage modelling.
It flies so much like a 208 that Volanta reads it out as a Caravanā¦
On the other head adding JATO packs to your garden shed has possibilities.
- youād definitely get the lawn mowed in record time!
Iāve been skimming through the past several weeks of conversations here, and I think the categories are an interesting idea. This may (not) surprise you, but due to the size of my fleet, I use a spreadsheet to organize all my aircraft. I have it divided into categories so I could choose my aircraft based on what type of flying I want to do. Within each category, aircraft are listed in order of speed. (Slowest to fastest) My categories are:
Bush
Bi-wing
Amphibious
Winter Kit
Single Piston
Twin Piston
Tri-Piston
Turboprop (Single)
Turboprop (Twin)
Business Jet
Airliners
Military
Helicopter
Glider
Ultralight
Agriculture
Micro Jet
Other
The most challenging part of separating things into categories is that several aircraft fit into multiple categories. (I list my aircraft in ALL the categories that apply.)
I havenāt updated my list in 3 months, which I just now realizedā¦and is quite distressing since Iāve added quite a few aircraft since then. I was in the process of creating a new spreadsheet categorizing by developer, ordered by speed, and using columns for floats, skies, etc. with an indicating ā. My original list is too long, which it what inspired me to redo it. I kinda put it off and am far behind now.
Also, @Baracus250 I already got the Tobii, too I really like the Track IR, but the eye tracking with Tobii makes a huge difference for me. I just havenāt figured out how to fix my setup since I had to remove my radio panel from blocking the lower portion of my monitorā¦
And I refuse to calculate how much Iāve spent on aircraft for MSFS. Ignorance is bliss.
I too use categories for my addons, but inside Addon Linker. Itās based on the type of flying I want to choose. So far mine have worked well enough:
Airliner - Anything large and complex goes here, from DC-6 to 737, when I want to fly IFR for a long ways.
Bush/Utility - STOL planes with cargo or passenger capacity go here, like the Kodiak or Islander. For flying heavy missions from small strips.
GA/Cruiser - All my GA planes capable of cruising at 130+ knots go in here, up to the King Air.
Low and Slow - Slow stuff with great visibility for sightseeing, and often no autopilot. I have helicopters and the L-4 Grasshopper in here for example.
Military - For warbirds as well as fighter jets.
Sport - Anything quirky or just fun to fly for aerobatics, STOL, canyon racing, etc. I have the Lake Skipper, Kit Fox, or Savage Gravel in here among others.
I like your categories. Clear divisions to purpose. What about military jets and warbirds?
Interesting about the Tobii. Iād be interested to hear more of a comparison what exactly you like better about it compared to TIR. So the receiver wouldnāt sit on top of the radio box?
I feel your pain about the lists!! Itās a full time job once you get behind
And yeah, not expecting you to add your spend up. Quick way to the grave!
I do admit Iāve been playing a mix of age of empires and train simulator a lot more this month because Iām still waiting for someone to do a few of my old favorite aircraft that I flew a lot in fsx so Iāve been flying what I have for now
(Which were most of the time were ERJ 145, Dash 8 100-400 series, DC9 30-50, MD90, Beechcraft B1900D, and Saab 340B)
Or divorce!
Many a proposed new gaming rig has suddenly transformed into a kitchen or bathroom renovation after consultation with management.
Iāll list my favs atm seeing as Iāve had an MSFS resurgence of late (needed a break before).
Flying Iron Spitfire
Flying Iron P38-L
Junkers JU-52
JPL Cessna 152
GotGravel Monster NX Cub
Simworks Zenith CH701
Blackbird Beaver
Iāve realised Iām very much a piston kinda guy. Iām not such a fan of the slow response from turboprops and jets. Waiting for the Bonanza steam gauge to release tomorrow.
Twin-Tail would be a good name, IMHO.
I say old chap, I do believe youāve caught the new super secret A640ā¦
The Harrier HUD was cured by removing the Working title GX V0.1.0 Dev 10 mod. Well spotted JF, great customer service.
Was this created by Airbusā new Division of Redundancy Division?
Has anyone tried the Lake Skipper? Iāve found that itās interrupting my normal routine! Iāll be flying something else, and look down and say āgolly, that looks like itād be fun in the skipperā, and then I debauch myself once more.
Anyone try the A36 steam gauge mod yet? I was thinking about the Black Square mods, so took out the Baron last night, and man oh man what a sweet ride! I spent some time in the Baron in FSX, but never in MSFS, and I have to say, whatta plane!! Both Baron and Bonanza in the default forms are such incredible planes. I canāt imagine how much more fun itāll be, being able to get rid of all GPS and only use old-school radio navigation.
The Bonanza Analog mod takes over:
1 Black Square G36 Bonanza mod
2 Microsoft DHC-2 Beaver
3 WB-SIM Cessna 172
4 Black Box L-19 Bird Dog
5 Blackbird C310
6 PMDG DC-6
7 Black Box Islander
8 JF Bae 146
9 Carenado Cessna 170B
10 JF Piper Warrior II
Everything else stays as it was.
