Your Current TOP 10 Aircraft

Black Square Grand Duke (haven’t tried the Turbine yet) ties with the A2A Comanche this month for the kind of flying that I enjoy doing.

Leaving my list unchanged for the moment. I did buy the Chinook and am enjoying it quite a bit - finally a helicopter I can fly easily, especially in the hover. Not sure yet whether it will be in my Top Ten eventually. The list is now really a case of five or six eternal must-haves (as was originally intended by Baracus, I think), and then a rotating roster of about a dozen aircraft that can round out the 10 depending on what type of flying I am doing that month, and where.

BBS BN2 Islander
A2A Comanche
JF BAe 146
Fenix A320 (mostly IAE)
Ini A300-600RF
AzurPoly C-160 Transall
MS/ATsim Antonov An-2
FI P-38 Lightning
BBS Cessna L19 Bird Dog
GF Monster NXCub

My list has been pretty much the same since the Comanche came out. I haven’t bought anything since it came out and haven’t really flown much else either. Eagerly awaiting the next A2A plane!

Ants Winjeel

Deimos Air Creation Tanarg

I feel a bit weird including the Tanarg, it is obviously a very simple aircraft but I keep coming back to it because it’s been giving me experiences no other aircraft has and that is the serene feeling of just floating in the air with no cockpit and unobstructed 360 views.

I love the Tiger Moth but find the Stearman easier to trim and control plus it’s a bit quicker so instead I’ve put Ants other plane in, the Winjeel, a brilliant 4 seat radial that I’ve been trying to get in for a while.

Like others have said, the top of the list is going to be pretty fixed with rotations towards the bottom as I try and be fair to lots of other fantastic aircraft.

Thank you, finally got in a full day of flying yesterday, after one month away from the sim. What a wonderful distraction

I tried all the updated Cowansim helicopters yesterday. Without deeper inspection I would say the H125, B206, R66 and R22 are all really enjoyable in their current state. It’s just the MD500 that still cannot fly straight even after the latest update.

Regarding helicopters, the Cabri G2 got a few subtle improvements with SU15 and is more engaging to fly now. And the Asobo/Nemeth 407 received a very nice upgrade by the free SimFocus improvement mod.

For the weekend I want to spend more time with the G3X. Just watched the awesome three-part tutorial series on YouTube by P Gatcomb. Working Title did a great job. As I wrote before the FSReborn Sting S4 is amazing now. Hopefully //42 will soon release the Kitfox upgrade.

The May 2024 Chart Results

Hey all. Here is the latest update to the Charts! Does anyone see anything interesting happening? Only one new entry this month (the least ever) but it certainly landed with a bang. Dodgy trim I think!

Want to see more awesome aircraft?
You can download the entire Charts Pack as a PDF here. This file includes the main All-Time Chart and a page for every month listing all votes, so you can see aircraft that fall outside of the Top 25 above.

Don’t forget you can also now vote and see a separate list of FREEWARE ONLY AIRCRAFT here:

…if you have not yet voted there, please go ahead and add your favourite in this topic!

:speech_balloon: ====== MY SUMMARY ====== :speech_balloon:

It’s a tie on votes now just outside the top 5 for Piper M500 (FSR500) Meridian, BAe 146 and Quest Kodiak 100, but the newest release jumps up due to the rule that newest in a tie comes out ahead!

Comanche is quite literally sailing off into the distance now. How unfair!

Wilma is still holding her head high thanks to a bit of a resurgence in the monthly votes this month. Same for the C310R. I got back in to flying that and it really is very nice. I am trying to see how dirty I can get it if I never clean it, to match the rest of my IRL life  I have a paper aeroplane tucked down the front of the top of the glare shield now

I also don’t think I have seen the Spitfire come out this high in the Monthly votes before? The BAe 146 is one of the bigger droppers from the top lot.

Only 1 new Aircraft mentioned this month(the least ever!!) coming into the OVERALL Top 25 for the year already in position 22, and positions 3 for the month… it’s the…

Developer Aircraft
Black Square Beechcraft B60 Duke (Piston & Turbine)

FINAL NOTE: The next Chart Update will be done on 30th June as that is the nearest Sunday to the end of the month.

As usual please let me know if you see any mistakes

You might like the DoubleEnder of you enjoy big views but want something with some more grunt than the Tanarg.

Still the same:

An’s Airplanes Tiger Moth: Now, with the recent update have a noticeable improvement. To me is the ideal for the sort of flight I do.

Blackbird C310R: I still enjoy she, despite some limitations.

Asobo ATR 42 600: Meanwhile on the hangar, waiting for updates.

Note: By now I’m centered on airfields development and using only the DH.82 for testing the sceneries.

Kind regards and happy flights for everybody.

Some small changes this month:

  1. Blackbird Cessna 310 - Most immersive plane out there. Do you know that if you pick up some ice on the propeller and then enable propeller de-icing you will hear how the ice is shed onto the hull?
  2. FSS Tecnam 2012 - Most immersive medium utility plane in the sim. One of the very few planes that I like to sometimes hand-fly for the whole flight because of how stable it is and how good it feels. Just needs to have some sound bugs fixed.
  3. Justflight Bae 146 - For all my vintage regional airliner needs. Now, with the new authentic FMC I can even properly simulate some more modern flying.
  4. Black Square Turbo Duke - Best random failure plane out there, best turboprop simulation in MSFS. What is lacking for me is more of an ownership feeling and an exterior that would be less pristine and more nuanced.
  5. PMDG 737-800. The Airliner for me. But hope some advancements get backported to it from the 777. Getting a little bit old.
  6. Black Square King Air 350 - The second small bus I like to drive. Probably the easiest medium plane to land in the sim, makes me super careless, poor passengers.
  7. FlightFX Hondajet - The micro airliner.
  8. An-2 - Another one for hand flying. Great soviet retro fun if you can find an NDB.
  9. Wilga.
  10. A2A Comanche. - You know your granddad’s ugly old stuff that he always rumbles about being super designer-ish and sough after in the old times? Well, surprise, it was always ugly as hell. This is how I feel about this plane, and even the top simulation aspects cannot make me fly it most of the time. I’m not flying granddad’s ugly plane.

Great list.

I feel the same about the Comanche. Objectively it’s the best plane in the sim but it just feels a bit too old for me.

However, if I want to practice real engine behavior and flight dynamics for my PPL training this is my plane of choice. It won’t let you get away with fouling spark plugs, taking off with cold oil etc. The lesser detailed aircraft in the sim can give you some bad habits because they don’t simulate failures.

Am I right that, apart from the order of the list, the only change is removing the PC-12 and adding the Tecnam 2012?

Well, if you put it like that, it doesn’t sound like it was worth listing them :stuck_out_tongue:

But yes, this seems accurate.

Either way, the order is also important for me, even if it doesn’t influence the score in the end.

haha that’s all good mate, I was just checking that I got it correct. Thanks!

What I like about the Comanche is it is similar to what I have occasionally got to fly in real life.

There is a lovely black vision jet hangered near my local but all I get to do is admire it from a distance. i will never get to fly one. probably never get a chance to even sit in one. That for me takes a lot of the interest out of flying it in MSFS.

That’s a problem those of us who don’t fly anything IRL never have.
