2024 Career Mode

also, imagine dealing with all of this nonsense: [MSFS2024] Boeing 747-8i (-8F) - #2 by Hynopsya

i don’t want to be the bringer of bad news but su3 is not much better and even worst

Have this heavy cargo plane and its missions been added?

Nope- these still haven’t been added in SU3 and there’s no indication they’re coming any time soon. Unreal that it’s taking this long.

The only indications we have is Jorg saying in a dev stream “It’s coming really soon we are on the final test phase” when SU2 beta starts, and did the same at SU3 in the next stream

Maybe at SU5 career mode will be improved, nothing important since the start of the beta…

It’s crazy the default Inibuilds A320/321 haven’t been added
If they can’t get the heavies going, expedite the non heavys into career mode. ATR included

For anyone who didn’t catch the live stream today, just an FYI it was confirmed that the new airliners/heavy ratings WILL NOT be coming with SU3 (shocker, right?)… I honestly think there’s a good chance that this won’t come until sometime in 2026…

SU3 improvements that are coming.
Bottom pic - looks like they are still working on the PC-12 O2 bug.

Note
VRAM is being worked on but is a hard fix due to all the data that has to be loaded - stuttering is not fixed and they are going to concentrate on that in SU4

one would hope they kick start the single aisle airliners which don’t need heavy, like the A320/21.
CRJ would be nice or the ATR or Citation VIP.
Would be good to just have new aircraft we aren’t really getting anything at all let alone heavy airliners
There are like loads of default aircraft not available in career mode, so in light of the heavies not coming, get the rest of the aircraft in career mode

Well there’s a surprise so career so pretty much pointless as it stands

I’ve tried to complete this turoprop rating three times now. Most recently, it said I had passed and allowed me back to my HQ, but then the certification wasn’t showing as completed. The flights appear in the log book.

Do I bother opening a bug ticket, or just forget about FS24 for another six months?

Offtopic here, but why keep I seeing more and more of these flagged post everywhere on this forum ?
Is there some serial flaggers or something ?

Might be mistaken, but I have a feeling that message appears when moderators have hidden a post, regardless of any flagging.

That, and I think there is an auto censor for certain no no words.

It really seems that Career mode with someones (or maybe multiple peoples) on high’s pet project / pipe dream that they managed to sell to C level folks as THE reason for 2024. Unfortunately it really hasn’t worked out. It’s a shame and all that, but wouldn’t the pragmatic thing to do now be to cut their losses and focus on something else, maybe they could take some of the content and rebrand somehow into training/bushtrips? There are multiple career/mission solutions that are far more effective and established. Maybe just license and integrate directly, or just allow users to continue using the external systems if they enjoy them and focus on core sim. Just an idea.

Career Mode worked out perfectly. it made us rebuy MSFS 2020. from the bean counter’s perspective (which is the only one that matters in AAA game development), it’s a huge win. Career Mode was always positioned as the shiny new thing SO DISRUPTIVE to the existing codebase that it ABSOLUTELY COULDN’T be patched in so we’d all have to shell out again for the same exact game with a new lighting engine and a new game mode.

just wait. they’ll do the same thing for MSFS 2028, only it’ll be, idk, AI ATC that ABSOLUTELY CAN’T BE PATCHED IN, and many of us will fall for the same trick all over again.

Do we have any constructive indications from official sources that career mode is being seriously worked on at this stage?

This game. I’m out. After few nice free flights I’m like: time to work on that career again. Do I have some exams I can do ? Sure, high power exam. Nice plane. Nice weather. Just fly circuit around the airfield. What can possibly happen. I skip the preflight, I taxi, I take off, I fly, I land. I stop at stop spot. Easy, 20 minutes, would call it 10/10 experience. And there it ends. It says to ask for taxi clearance. I press the button (on the controller), nothing happens. I press the keyboard button, nothing happens. I press all the buttons I can think of, nothing happens. I can’t complete the mission. I can’t skip the taxiing. I’m cooked. I can try again and loose another 20 minutes. Or I can go play something else. I’m not going to test what’s the limit of profanities I can post here .. so dear Asobo, you only have to guess. But I think you know quite well.

Sorry to read that, but I’m not surprised.

I always said that putting in a career mode gives people both a motivation to fly, but also a mill stone round our necks.

You had an otherwise enjoyable 20 minute flight experience, but because you didn’t get some payoff at the end of it your experience was wasted in your eyes.

You don’t have that if you do free flight only. There will be those that only really enjoy flying if they see the numbers go up, the dopamine hit if you will, and if the numbers go down, angry forum posts ensue.

I’m not belittling those that do, just that I identified a possible scenario where it would make me too annoyed to want to fly anymore, so avoided it. I’ve probably had 4 or flights with it, found it to be too rough around the edges to continue with, and abandoned it, and reading these threads solidifies my reasons for doing so.
