9800X3D 21% faster than the 7800X3D - 1080p highest + Turbo

Maybe the performance is “just” being hampered by the insufficient server resources?

I don’t know, i need to rest still in pains. Have a great day.

Yep, basically same experience.

There’s a strong possibility that the performance of this sim is being hampered by server issues, which is why I think it’s best to wait a couple of weeks before benchmarking it.

Thats literally what I just posted a video about directly above you…

You should do that test with the dev mode performance data active so we can see if it’s CPU or GPU limited at that time. If 2024 is GPU limited then it’s probable that neither CPU cache nor clock speed is really going to impact fps.

There is also a kind of encryption/DRM going on at all start/loading screen (VSF or something) “FS24 has all assets encrypted” I hope this is not the case of the performance difference between Tech alpha and release version. Request for the Unencryption and Full Downloadability of Default Aircraft in MSFS 2024

“let’s encrypt 2024 and not release any meaningful dev tools along with the sim”

See you all in couple months.

Well, it’s 1080p, many of us use 1440p and 4k, and at 4k resolution they’re essentially the same. At least not far apart enough to justify buying one solely for a few fps. If all you do is competitive counter strike it’s maybe worth it, idk. Multithreaded and single core power consumption is also way higher, so that’s a consideration too, at least for some.

It looks insane though, wow. Beautiful shot.

You should see it in VR. Unbelievble, when it works!

Careful with fake 9800x3D listings. Amazon flooded with fake 9800X3D listings for $199: don't fall for it | WePC Incase you bought one, test it with CPU-z and HWinfo64, they will show as [Fake] label. They did the same with 7800x3D. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7C_x5EI-fQ

On a 7950X3D and after doing tests with Process Lasso with CPU affinity to have MSFS2024 run on CCD0 (vcache) vs deleting the config so it runs on all cores, it actually seems better on all cores for me. I’m 1440p (5120x1440) for 2D and VR with a Meta Quest3 & Reverb G2. Seem to get better FPS using the dev mode FPS counter. 4090 GPU.

In FS20 VR my former well refrigerated 13900ks of a some week ago, with the “feelings” measure tool, I think it was clearly more stutter free than then the 7800x3d despite 200mhz OC and virtualization off (which is not almost noticeable, not like with the 13900k that is really a boost).

Now since a week with the 7800X3D, I swapped it and I am now with the 9800x3d since yesterday, this is maybe the same or almost unnoticeable a bit better than the 13900ks, all in FS20. I have a some years old 13900KS CapFrameX, I couldn´t do a new one before swapping to the 7800x3d a week ago because a PSU fail, and I went directly to buy all AMD.

One thing , weird?, is that with my former 13900k, one or more CPU core always was at full load, since a week ago with the 7800x3d and now 9800x3d, some of them in at around 60-70%…, normal?, or we are losing resources there?

I’ve just moved from a 4090+12900 to 14900, I can’t really see any performance difference between the two, I’m still at significantly lower fps (but smoother with TAA), are you saying the 9800x3d is performing the same as your 9800x3d? Any chance you could post a Development Mode fps overlay and a screen shot of your core workload ?

No, 7800x3d<13900k</= 9800x3d, regarding stutters and smoothness, with my brain perception tool haha.

Maybe in the weekend I can take some picture and show it, or later.

13900 well refrigerated for not to have thermal throttling.

I deleted the former reply by mistake.

TenPatrol… I value your knowledge on motherboards and have read several of your posts. Frankly the whole which M.2 connector to use and how many to use without degradation makes my head swim. So I’ll just ask for clarification. I’ll be using a 4080 super and 2, maybe 3 at most M.2 drives and 64 gig of ram. Would the MSI Mag x870 Tomahawk WIFI board allow this configuration without degrading the GPU lanes or 3 M.2’s msi mag x870 tomahawk wifi | Newegg.com If so, which would be the best Ram to purchase for it. Looking to get a pair of 32 gig at 30cl. Will use the 9800x3d. Thx in advance.

For what it’s worth, I think people are putting too much stock into the idea of populating every m.2 slot with no degradation. Even if you have it set up in such a way that you loose some maximum speed, data transfers are not happening in such large quantities as to make it an issue for gaming.

I’m kinda eyeballing the x870e Asrock Nova, which has that functionality, but that isn’t even on the list of things I’m wanting. Heck, a big reason that I want it is for the aesthetics. Lol.

My main concern wasn’t so much the speed of the intra M.2 transfers, it was more that for some mobos the PCI speed for the GPU could be reduced if a certain M.2 slot is occupied.

Usually when that occurs, the GPU slot is running a x8 instead of x16.

A 4090 will not saturate a PCIe Gen5 slot running at x8 in MSFS at 4K.
Some technical scenarios could, theoretically, but that would have to be intentional.
Mostly a gamer/simmer would not notice that a PCIe port is running at x8 even with a top tier GPU, let alone with a mid range graphics card.

5090 is not out yet, so we don’t know whether it would saturate at PCIe Gen5 x8 for gaming, but I would say it is unlikely to be noticeable for MSFS at 4K.

So mostly, it’s a non issue for Gaming.
For specialized tasks, it may be worth it do dig deeper, depending on the use case.
