About the Bugs with 2024

That is FABULOUS!

If that doesn’t sum up this sim then I don’t know what does.

No more patience to live the 24 frustrations. My MSFS 2020 with all high end Add On’s and High and Utlra Settings runs like hell!
No need for any MSFS24 frustrations any longer, i stopped beta-testing.
There is some benefit regarding VFR-Flying, but in normal life, i don’t miss anything in MSFS20.
Will come back again in a year and look if there is some significant progress. The decision to stream egerything is desastrous. There are Countries in the world where CDN’s are not capable to perform, especially in Germany thanx to Telekom.

This is what is call pure CR@P Asobo! You can’t even explain why this is stupidly coded! A 6 year old can code this better. Here is an example of a plane completely working in the conditions, but you have it red for maintenance. This aircraft makes no money in passive because you can’t code! I can get a 1st year junior programmer to program better than this TRASH! You ripped us off by releasing this BROKEN product!

Must be a lot of simmers giving up on 2024 - sims starts up in 2 mins - in sim working well - like a new sim for to me today - hope it stays that way

Looking forward to Asobo’s advances on the state of 2024 - has a lot of potential

I could not believe this is true. But indeed the Career mode is completely broken:

As bad as the career mode sounds, it drives me bonkers that each time I want to start Free Flight I need to re-select the variant and livery of the A330 I want to fly. I always choose the Delta 330-200 GE. And then, I need to fix the bindings for each of my controllers. Asobo gave us a ridiculously complex mechanism to configure our controllers but decided saving the settings and aircraft selection was unnecessary.

Maddening!

My biggest fear about this complex control mechanism is that Asobo will probably have to revamp it and this will lead to more bugs.

I still haven’t forgotten in 2020 when they made changes there and left all Xcloud users unable to save their controls. Every time you entered the simulator, the controls would return to default.

I waited months until a SU came out where Asobo fixed the bug that they themselves created.

I hope microsobo comes back from 3 weeks off with a detailed roadmap for updates, fixes and improvements. Including Xbox, marketplace, all our content no longer confined to “not available”, new aerials, and other features. What will 2025 look like? Saying a sim update once a quarter is not really helpful information as it lacks depth

You could be correct. And, while I think it might take a complete revamp to make the control mapping mechanism reasonably user friendly, a few small fixes would go a long way to reducing everyone’s madness:

Fix what is causing profiles to just disappear
Properly remember which profiles are assigned to which plane/variant!!!
Fix that dead screen used for setting curves/deadzones, etc.
Fix the UI inconsistency for Set Default and Apply all Aircraft.

I can deal with confusing and working. It is confusing and broken that puts me over the edge.

That’s a pretty far out hope. Have you read the “wonderful” patch notes they produce?

Fixed multiple things.

Like maybe some DETAILS would be nice. If that’s how shoddy their release process is, it’s no wonder the sim is in such a mess.

Have you ever tried working with Microsoft’s horrible, HORRIBLE Azure? Since they first became a company in the 70’s they’ve had this bad habit of over-complicating things. Sometimes to the point of absurdity. That is Azure in a nutshell.

I imagine a huge part of the issues revolve around that.

It was probably a couple of fixes and they didn’t want us complaining why there aren’t more. I really think they are just waiting for all this anger to blow over.

I get it now. This is all just part of the immersion that MSFS2024 provides. Now everyone in career mode can feel the same frustration felt by real world airlines who used Cloudstrike in 2024.

I hope it’s simply a bug (not that they are attentive to fixing those…) and we don’t really need this:

It’s going to be a long wait.

They’ll be sitting comfortably on the money they made.

Not to worry, MSFS 2024 was LAST YEAR’s version.

Now, let’s take a sneak peak at MSFS 2025. We’ve been listening to the community and are excited to announce a bunch of new things and improvements. It will be available Nov 19, 2025.

It’s the way that Asobo make decisions that puzzles me.

For example, the “Walk-around”. Some people asked for it, so they added it to the sim, but they assumed everyone starting Cold and Dark wanted to do it every time. Did no-one just stop and think perhaps this should only be an option?

Also, on the settings page, there is no “cancel” button, only “save and exit”. In all the time the Asobo coders have been on a computer, have they really never needed to cancel a setttings dialogue box?

And how on earth could anyone think that scrolling the aircraft selections sideways is better than the FS2020 up/down version? Or was this change made just for the sake of change?

These are some of the many points picked up by users immediately the sim was released. Have they really not got anyone sensible in Asobo to pass their eyes over the decisions made at an early stage in the coding before forcing them on their customers? Or are they too addicted to the “we know what our customers want more than they do” syndrome?

Perhaps they should form a group of regular, sensible users who they can just informally ask for an opinion before they get too entrenched in the coding. I could certainly nominate say ten people from the forums I would trust to apply a bit more common sense to the process, and I’m sure they would be only too willing to help.

This is what happens when companies make products that are not made by simmers. Not to say, it can’t be done.

There are design choices that makes zero sense, like the walk around is mandatory. And the control bindings, liveries and type of aircraft is not saved. The saved state of control bindings have not been fixed for two updates, really? That is a critical part of the sim and not my personal opinion. Instead the career mode was given updates like that is going to make up for it.

I have no confidence that this sim will be fixed from fundamental issues. It feels different from 2020, when devs were active and gave us a plan of action.

It is time to take a break from this sim and I will pick up on other hobbies, been simming for almost 35 years

Yup…the worst of all this is that asobo are actually driving people AWAY from flight simming!
I can just about manage the CJ4 and the brilliant C414 in MSFS 2024 but even so the experience is often WORSE than 2020. What a cock up!
