More updates just few hours ago on their forum:

Modeling, texturing, and almost all animations are solid. No worries about that. In fact, Stefan and Anne are already working on the next bus.

Flight modeling, Engine modeling, and FADEC were massive issues, but we are 99% sure we can get within 3% of correct behavior. Any pilot will tell you that is fine as one airframe differs from another. Having two engines on one aircraft that differ by 3% is fine. Don’t be mistaken, 3% is pretty much state-of-the-art.

Manuals and E-manual are more or less okay. The PDF manuals will be fine and available on release, the E-manual which is one of the highlights of the project as we want to get even beginners to be able to fly the A330 will be available but will need to be updated with the latest changes in code.

Autopilot still needs work but is basically not very complex. It flies the route, does a cool ILS intercept, and lands fine.

Systems are more or less okay. This is one area where you can spend another 20 years because where the real aircraft just has to display what is happening, we need to model why it happens. So when a computer decides the cabin needs to be heated a bit, a system will divert heat from an engine to a heat exchanger and feed the warmed air to the cabin. That means the engine will be affected, the electrical system will be involved and that means the generators will need to provide a bit more power. And that drops the thrust of the engine. See the complexity? We have a whopping lot of that code running because of some professional spin-offs of the bus projects. It’s there and somewhere in Germany, a developer is crying because no customer will ever see it.

EFB, we are very proud of the EFB. and while we need some tweaks, all is well. Navigraph, NavDataPro, weather, runway data, simbrief integration, are all working. I just love to be able to update the weather data automatically before planning an arrival, The fact we incorporated our own sat imagery so you can be sure you are doing your taxi route okay.. cool.

Miles Davis, Kind Of Blue. Possibly the finest record ever made. Refilled my glass.

MCDU, LNAV, VNAV… That is where we have most work open. Logically as it is by far the most complex part of the aircraft. LNAV seems to work, VNAV not so much but we know what we need to do.

ECAMS, loads of tweaks in fonts, placement, and things like that open (we had some bad luck in that part) but it is not code that affects flight. Still one of my main worries now.

Marketplace. This is the work you need to do to get something on the Marketplace. Not only contracts but a whopping lot of things you have to add. Not complex but I still need a few days on that for sure.

Installer/Protection. With our own Aerosoft One system that is tried and tested (our DRM has not been hacked and has next to makes life for the customer easier (no need to enter any serial!s)) we are not worried about that at all.

Support, they are fully included in the testing so they should know what they need.

Marketing. This department will be getting all information from me very soon. They will invite streamers to have a look at the product before release and get the word out to websites and magazines.

Sales still have to make sure that all our associate sale channels get all the marketing data and on release the files.

Love the AC livery for testing!

Fly the flag!

AC livery looks so slick and clean on every aircraft. However, i liked the older colored ones a bit better.

To stay on topic, lets hope the rest of the plane is as good as the sounds

Well Release the kraken. LOL

I understand they dont make a cabin, but Please Aerosoft, why cant you modell perfectly rounded windows for the wingviews… :frowning:
The ones in the CRJ are also crooked.

Ye never got the melting windows thingy, like it’s costing fps to make rounded windows ? :stuck_out_tongue:

Low polygon optimization, low polygon optimization. Low-polygon optimization and sacrificing vertices. The seats in the cockpit have the same low-polygon angular shapes, probably for 1FPS more.
This plane will have chance to beat the photorealistic 4k textures with the high-polygon tesselation quality of the Fenix Airbus cockpit with this graphics standard.

I just hope the FMC is good, I hope it has the FBW systems, at least for normal ops, such as Auto Trim, Auto Thrust logic, I dont mind it not having non normal stuff, but I truly hope the normal ops automation is fully present.

Agreed. We have all been using (and spoiled by) the Fenix and FBW aircraft. We know how the plane is supposed to work. If the system quality on this bird is not close to released aircraft, it will be very evident.

Aerosoft has had this plane in the oven for a long time. Hopefully, it will be worth the wait! Really looking forward to a decent wide body plane.

I wouldn’t hold my breath. Given Aerosoft’s track record with MSFS so far I would be really surprised if this lives up to the hype. Just my two cents…

Give them one more chance.:crossed_fingers: Look how long they have been working on this aircraft. This will be my first aircraft from Aerosoft and I understand the track record that haunts them, however they must know that they have to get this right. Or this could be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.

It’s a pity it only comes with one engine variant! Was looking forward to PW4000 engines!

I will buy it as soon as it gets released. I need it for realistic trans-atlantic flights (I love the looks in the Headwind NEO, but it is not there yet systems wise), the same way I needed the ATR-72 for island hopping, even if it can be improved.

But I fear it´s going to be just another “release and forget” Aerosoft product. Not the end of the world for 50€ or whatever it costs, but I´m concerned because if there is already an A330 in the market, probably no other developer will ever make a better one, just like Milviz / Blackbird is unlikely to release a better ATR-72, and we are stuck with the Asobo one, for better or worse.

The same can happen with the Aerosoft A330. I´m not worried it´s not perfect. I´m worried it could mean we won´t have a better one after it is released (and probably, abandoned).

Let´s wait and see…

Well, FSLabs is developing an A330. And being their A320 for prepar3d even better than the Fenix one, I can’t wait to see what they do in MSFS. They are developing an A320neo too, and plan to develope an A350 in the near future, but they’ve released few news since last year.

Well we haven’t actually seen anything from Aerosoft themselves. Both the CRJ and the Twotter were developed by Hans Hartman who is now working with Asobo for the ATR and is probably going to abandon the project soon per his track record.

I would give Aerosoft a chance here at least Hans is not behind the wheels this time, not because he is bad as a dev but mainly because he just leaves stuff behind without never fixing, updating or improving his products.

Thanks for that information. I did not know the A330 will be by Aerosoft only.
Nothing against Hans but the CRJ and Otter was the reason I had paused when think of getting the A330 aircraft. I still feel that Aerosoft still has a way to go., they allowed those aircraft to be kicked to the curb, and the silence on the issue says a lot.
