Its always a question of how long, for the last 7 months Id get it working again and BAM another bug fix or patch comes along and right back in the toilet here. Su5 with the config edits, are the best thing in awhile here.
Sims have alway required you to get your ‘hands dirty’ in the past why should this one be any diff.

Why the hell are you going out and representing the game company yourself?
Advocates should know that unconditional tolerance, non-judgmental thinking, and actions that criticize others’ opinions are actions that do nothing for the development of society.
If half of the screen is bright sky and I’m also flying against the sun, then the exposure is screwed far down by the software. Fly into the mountain valleys where almost no sky can be seen, then things will look different. With a white airplane, you no longer have any drawings on the wings or on the fuselage. But that is not the point. I was able to fly through the valleys before and had really well-lit scenery and now I only have horrible, totally bleached, overexposed landscape after the update. I haven’t had any CTDs yet.
I get it I have the same issues as well. This is from this afternoon, I set setting in Nvidia control panel so that the outside actually looked good. Now keep in mind this is in the middle of the afternoon and I have all the dash lights on and this is what I get:
I know they said they were going to add a slider to fix this, but I think it need 2 sets of 3 sliders to make it work right. Of course the other day it occured to me that maybe they could just dim the sun a bit and its effects. I was flying to the east at Sunrise and the sun/glare were so bad it looked like someone had detonated a hydrogen bomb up ahead… ;p
If it were deliberate it’s for realism however I guess they must fix it for those who can’t wear sunglasses … or can’t simply do as I do and adjust desktop colour settings in NVCP
I use the cp to modify it, trouble with that is you quit the sim start up and hour later and that nice balance the you had finally achieved is now gone and you have to do it all over again.

Yes in the CP you make the changes and click apply and they will stay there until changed again. Of course the trouble with this is that when you make the setting for FS then all your other things to get hosed LOL
I play on a gtx 1650, 16 gigs of ram. My PC can’t handle LOD of 300, or even 400. Before I was using 115 on both LOD and object level of detail and my graphics were amazing. Now they’re horrible and I can’t adjust them cuz my FPS goes to 8-11 with an LOD of 200+
What bothers me the most is the fact that they have all this hotfixes for graphical issues, yet people will have to wait 20 days to have a possible update on the CTD issues, possible because they have no idea what’s causing them. How professional is this situation from the perspective of someone that spent their hard earned money on this software?

The mapping has changed in that the sim uses more cores but it is also much easier on ram and vram but all settings need to be adjusted accordingly … and I actually have a lower spec gpu than you do with just 2GB vram. And even I can push LOD up to 200 when previously that was a slideshow.
Looking at this post objectively,

The said company did this in order to offer their product to a wider audience. Make no mistake this wasn’t done to promote the love of flying etc etc as some head of department would claim, rather to make more money. - Fair (they are a business after all)

Unfortunately, you either have to think of this as a long term risky investment and hope it pays off, or a bad investment that has hit your stop loss.
Oh I completely agree with you. They need to take care of these people who keep having CTD or can’t even get the dang game to download. I suggested they put in some overtime to get this thing back to a somewhat stable situation and I got ridiculed and blasted. Like ok you have a different opinion that’s fine but you can disagree in a way that is respectful but some of these people are down right rude and try to make situations personal.
What we have here is a simple case of switch and bait by Microsoft and Asobo. Clearly the simulator was better before they redesigned the entire game in order to sell XBoxes. BUT…adding XBox to the simulator was on their roadmap. What they didn’t tell us is they would downgrade the entire simulation in order to support XBox. Even the ■■■■ VFR Map was downgraded. It’s sad really. But truth is we all should have known. That’s how life rolls. I’m now enjoying quality flying time in X-Plane 11. I suggest if you really dissatisfied with a dysfunctional game that CTD all the time, leave. If folks leave they will listen.
The graphics issues look like they’re much more easily fixed and once they get that fixed at least a whole chunk of the community will be happy (we hope!). Some people may even find that once they fix the graphics bugs there’s less CTD anyway. Any bug isn’t good so the more bugs they fix the happier the sim should be.
I’ve been suffering from a few CTD since SU5 launched so I definitely share the frustration. Its obviously the case that some of it really isn’t an easy over night fix though. The last thing we want is by fixing some bugs others are introduced. Which is what can easily happen.
