April 3, 2025 Development Update Blog Discussion

Feedback Snapshot: No update this week.

Why am I reading this update blog at all?
Well, if I don’t deserve information about the status of bugs and feedback then MS/Asobo don’t deserve my time as involuntary beta tester.
It’s not like I don’t have other games to play … which just work as expected, btw.

Yay the weekly VA Systems flood! I mean come on with that…also, not sure who is doing QA but charging $4.99 for different color flashlights is kind of wild. You are better than this MS/Asobo!

Hello @FlyngWithJay,

Prices for products on the Marketplace are set by each product’s developer, not by Microsoft or Asobo.

Thanks,
MSFS Team

I have a dream… that one day…

a human-commented version of all items on the bug snapshot and wishlist snapshot will be published. That would be a great dev blog post (and not just refering to already published changelogs and marketplace stuff)

Unless they want to set the price as “free”, right?

Though there is a minimum price, so a dev can’t release a $1 light add-on.

The update situation is frustrating. The 2024-compatible update for the Blackbox Shorts packages went live in FS2020 Marketplace at the beginning of February. FS2024 still has the older, non-FS2024 compatible version in MP so the planes are marked as not available. Similar stories with planes like the T-7A Red Hawk. The whole situation is so frustrating it’s got to be really hurting publishers. I’ve certainly cut out purchases until things get smoothed out.

The minimum price is what i never unterstood as MS/Asobbo’s own content is provided for free on the same marketplace as the other stuff where a minimum price is needed… so it cant be a technical issue for the minimum.

Xbox user - I remember a free airport from Aerosoft, I think, in the early days of the Marketplace. So of course it can be done.

And yet we still can’t get a permanent developer filter. That’s all they’d have to do and we’d finally shut up about getting frustrated by seeing shovel-ware flooding.

Though that still wouldn’t really help with our frustration of seeing certain “wares” peddled in Microsoft updates while thousands of existing addons are stuck in a “purgatory” created by Microsoft itself with their unfilled promise of major compatibility with the previous sim.

I really don’t understand. I mean, the names were all there. I would think it has cost effort to remove them in the first place. And for what reason? I hope not because we then can see what stuff is dropped by developers we want to avoid?!

Doesn’t MS set a minimum price for products on the marketplace though?

I know I’m beating a dead horse here, but out of frustration I’m going to beat it some more anyway. Miracles can happen. It might twitch…

I came along to read the “April 3, 2025 Development Update”, but as was pointed out… there are no updates. A whole lot of nothing…

Yes yes, I know, I know. There are links to the SU2 Beta patch notes. I’ll read them. But, I wanted to get a brief summary from the weekly development update. Can’t anyone do us the service of writing a couple of short paragraphs? It must require less effort than compiling all the marketplace nonsense…

I fully agree with all the marketplace frustrations that are being vented here, but I have accepted that I just won’t use it. I buy very few add-ons, choosing quality over quantity. So, fill the marketplace with as much cack as it can hold - it’s as cluttered as Amazon and its marketplace now - I’ll just buy elsewhere. I don’t see Microsoft changing its policies, so we have to accept that some “developers” will do all they can to screw money out of unwitting users. Human nature, sadly.

Not a moan, just an observation, in the Msfs2024 marketplace we have, I assume, all the mscenery items, deimos upgrade options etc etc - if any developers who have submitted their products and not had them appear in the store yet, maybe contact mscenery for advice? Lol

Buyer beware - loads of addons are causing problems with your base sim. Reading the beta forums too, people are having to test with and without community folders and are getting varied results. Oddly some say it’s the best thing since this update and others say it is rubbish. ???Who to believe and ATC is still bad in free flight - sigh. Marketplace is boring for 2024 with only fighter jets or taildraggers and ++++livery and scenery. Where are the planes or anything with quality? Star ratings are poor on the whole. I understand the frustration of not knowing who the developer is, you can’t tell what garbage or diamond you are buying!

Going to retest that shortly.

So walk around mode still has the negative mouse acceleration or lower end deadzone, meaning the mouse has to move at a certain speed for input to be acted upon.

This is the same in the cockpit, but it has always felt less jumpy. The way I describe it is like the cockpit mouse look has a higher resolution that the walkaround resolution, and mean axis resolution not graphical in this context.

The cockpit still has the lower dead zone but it doesn’t feel as bad, and there is still a touch of positive mouse acceleration above a certain speed.

This is easy to detect.

  • Move your keyboard right up against your mouse.

  • Position the mouse so that it is touching your keyboard, and you are looking at an easy to identify object. For me its a zoomed in view of a cockpit instrument.

  • Now very slowly move your mouse away from the keyboard, and back. If you go slow enough you will see that your view doesn’t change.

  • For the other end, move the mouse rapidly away from your keyboard, and back again. With no mouse acceleration you will be looking right back at that gauge, but what you will see is you have overshot that gauge, and are likely looking out the left window, or even over your left shoulder.

This all works fine, and dandy for console controllers as that is what this is aimed at, but it is utterly horrible for mouse users.

And we still have this nearly 5 years later, though I think they added the postive mouse acceleration in 2024.

If I had to graph it, it would be something like this:

What we want is this:

Stop messing with the mouse inputs, and leave them as 1:1. please!

Do we know approx when su2 will be released ?
Thank you.

It would be nice if the weekly development update would give us an update about the development.

It depends what you consider relevant to that. If you want the condensed version it could be that they released two beta versions, and the actual development update section was empty.

I don’t really count the new or updated products section as relevant to the updating of the sim itself, more a general “state of the union” type announcement.

Keep on seeing fixes for the 737 max in the beta. The plane doesn’t work at a basic level on Xbox, either fix it or ditch it from career mode/xbox until it’s fixed.

I thought the backwards compatibility was reasonablyish successful. Not perfect, didn’t expect it to be. But I’ve got the F28, RJ, PC12 and Kodiak from marketplace at the right version or beyond for 2024 compatibility in 2020, but ancient releases in 24, lacking both compatibility and other major improvements, especially for the f28 and pc12. What is that? I can forgive the delays, I can forgive the lack of actual compatibility. Cant really forgive a bunch of MCScenery or similar garbage flooding the marketplace when I know for a fact developers like JustFlight and SWS have issued both compatibility and substantial upgrades, but are multiple versions behind on the 24 mp and not even available for new players to buy.
