Good point, skis would be a great addition. Lots of pics out there with big skis fitted to the Norseman, since it was flown in the arctic and antarctic regions.
Although, this plane with skis might be a wild ride. It can be a bit of a handful on takeoff and landing!
Maybe my wish for skis is not quite mainstream, but considering the Norseman was designed specifically for the Canadian outback, skis would really make it more comlete for just that! Or maybe for a revival of the antarctic expedition with this plane? To me the Norseman cries out for some fun expeditions in the cold!
Mmmm, one can only dream and hope that @OzWookiee might work some magic. Oz, just in case you donāt know, at really low temperature water can turn into a weird white substance called āsnowā. Thatās kind of like your sand (it gets everywhere!), but is great fun to move around in. But since moving in this snow can be tricky, people have come up with the idea of tying a pair of boards under their feet. Iāve been reliably informed that those boards, āskisā to use the technical term, also work on airplanes.
That is a beautiful cockpit in this real-life video, two-tone dark and light blue. All the videos and screenshots I have seen of the Big Radials package only have that extremely dull and hard to read black cockpit. Had they modelled this blue variant, or at least a grey one, I would be much more tempted to buy this plane ā¦
Personally I like those dull, old-school cockpits. But I can see where you are coming from! It would be cool to have some choice. Give it a week or two, I wouldnāt be at all surprised if some liveries with lighter cockpits came out on flightsim.to very soon.
Finally bought it and flew around some remote area so as to put it into its natural environment
I like it.
Two questions to you Norseman pilots to confirm my observations before I report them to BR:
Does anyone understand the logic behind the thicker needle on the directional gyro? (the thinner one of the two shows heading of the aircraft) According to the BR documentation, it should be pointing to the South which it is not. It does not seem to show anything really useful and when I checked the code behind that needle, it is linked to NAV1 radial & heading of the aircraft.
I can hear a rather disturbing loop in the engine / prop sound linked to RPM. It is like the engine / prop surging time to time. Can you hear it too?
And for anyone else interested in Gibbes Sepik Airlinesā use of the Norseman in PNG, I have just come across an account by someone involved in the administration of PNG in the 1950s. It includes descriptions of flights made with Gibbes Sepik and also the building of some of the airstrips we can now use in the sim.
Sorry if this question is quite dumb on my part: are these downloadable liveries? If so, how does one go about downloading them? Iām not familiar with that flickr thingy so I donāt know how that works.
sorry, but they are not yet downloadable. Big Radials have said they are coming with an update soon, which would interfere with my textures, so rather than having to upload updates for my paints, Iād rather do it right the first time. Besides, Iām hoping they unmirror the wing textures, so I can add registrations and USAAF roundels on the wings.
So a bit more patience please, for now itās just screenshots (on flickr), to wet your appetite.
It has been discussed - not everyone has this bug and BR (last I heard) was unable to reproduce the problem. Their position is that it is likely related to the individualsā community folder and not a BR problem.
Does your ATC comms work? Some people are reporting that they cannot use comms unless they open the GPS and tinker with the comm1 and comm2 frequencies.
+I am having both of these issues myself - muted engine sounds in the cabin and comms not working by default.
Hmmm, it is installed on a different HDD to the msfs.exe and placed in the community folder via a symbolic link because I have limited SDD space - could it be caused by that? Iāve never had issues otherwise with symbolic links working.
