C208B Grand Caravan EX Mods General

I’ve got 268 hours logged right now. (lol several hundred lost to being in dev mode and not realizing it doesn’t track it!) I would bet that a good 90-95% of that is in the C208B EX, and most of it at night here in Hawai’i!

The Community mod of the 208 is what makes that plane great. The default one…I thought it was good until I tried the mod!!!

Noted this, too!

Just one strange thing noticed was that C208 with modv2201.2 started with features of the pilots seen immediately (default view). “Backs” of features seen such as glasses, hair, mouth, etc.
Workaround is to Select Camera, Smartcam Targets, Pilot, Close.

Known Issues and Limitations

Some Voice Alerts won’t work with NXi (Is not implemented by WT yet)
Fuel and Starter switch does not move when starting with autostart
Some Buttons/Switches do not have a tooltip
Max Payload is negativ (I turns to normal when sliding the slider to zero)

**Based on Sim version 1.23.12.0 (SU8)**

***Engine and Flight Model***
- Corrected Different Values according to POH
- Reverse thrust is strengthened and has a noticeable effect on the plane
- 4 minutes of engine overstress (operating above max torque limit) cause CAS message about metal chips in the oil and increase probability of the engine failure.
The average time of engine failure after metal chips appearance is 100 minutes. The event is random so you may not experience engine failure if you are gentle with the throttle.
If the engine is kept overstressed the probability of the engine failure increases. Each second of keeping the engine above the torque limit decreases the expected engine failure time by 8 seconds.  
You can disable/enable engine failures in the MSFS Assistance Options.

***Ground Handling***
- More control while taxiing
- Tighter turning circle

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I think MS added it to 3 planes to start - the C208, the Beech 350 King Air and… one more I forgot.

Hello,

First of all, many thanks for the quick update.

Since the SU8, the switch which controls the defrosting of the windshield has 3 positions. By default, the central position is engaged. But impossible to choose another position. The switch automatically returning to the center. Am I missing something?

The control of the anti-icing switch is reversed in the mod (to switch it up, you have to click down… and vice versa.)
And a final question: the “Stall heat” switch is now “clickable”, is it just cosmetic or operational?

Please spent a moment to read https://github.com/SheepCreativeSoftware/msfs2020-C208-Improvment-Mod. it is the overview of the changes. the windshield / max airframe is a momentary switch. You just enables specific mode of operaqtion for a fixed period of time.

Soo… to get off ice from my window i klick “windshield” for a moment and set normal, high or max with the trigger on the lef,t from that one with windshield position? Am I correct?

correct - windshield or max deice triggers work only if the primary deice mode is in normal or high position.

Just put this mod through it’s paces in the Caribbean. Performed flawlessly, what a fabulous piece of work. Many thanks for all the effort. Now onto some colder climates.
