I can load in no with no real issue here in the UK and have made a few flights in the Cessna 152 and have had only a few CTDs it far from perfect but i am sure with time things will start to improve as it shows real potential i think, good to see they are aware of the compatibility issues among other things..it shows they are listening and that can only be a good thing in the long run.
Maybe for the moment they should put a hold on the backward compatibility to 2020 until it can be 100% verified as working in 2024, i think people would be happier to have a working 2024 than it being compromised by 2020 add ons.
Yes, I’ve liked the scenery when it loads properly and I’m loading in quick (UK). Plus what it will offer. I didn’t expect perfection straight off. I do think the bindings are bit over complicated.
You’d think it would be possible to have the marketplace functional so we can disable stuff, and at the same time have buying of add ons and upgrades greyed out for now. I don’t get why the marketplace section is completely disabled. I also don’t get why enabling and disabling installed add ons is even part of the marketplace function. To me marketplace should be where you buy things - end of. Enabling/disabling content should be done via simple toggle switches in my library or an equivalent add on list. I’d happily remove all the FS2020 add ons for now. Give us a clean fs2024 install instead, then let us choose what we want to add in when marketplace becomes available.
Totally agree, in DCS this is all very simple to do as “you” select what you want to have in the game/sim, it does make me wonder given there statement if the backwards compatibility is what is causing a lot of the issues as looking at users screenshots we all are experiencing different issues there does not appear to be any consistency with the issues it seems to me.
(just my opinion and do not wish to cause any offense..another member on here stated to me my opinion was not wanted on the forum regarding 2024)
Agree. It’s certainly hard to tell what is a real bug when we have add ons from fs2020 auto activated. They have turned what should be a fs2024 vanilla sim (what I want right now) into a strange hybrid where we really can’t tell if any issues we encounter are a fs2020 add on conflict or a fs2024 bug. Some of those fs2020 add ons are so old I stopped using them 3 years ago! But like a zombie, they are all back from the dead and running amok in fs2024!
They should fess up and pull all fs2020 related content for now. Bring it back when marketplace is activated. We paid for a vanilla fs2024 experience yet we are currently not getting that.
100% pull it and eliminate it as an issue , clean slate then introduce it as an option down the line (if it is 100% compatible). Get 2024 stable and running well in a vanilla state first.
I am happy to delete and reinstall/stream from scratch and then at least i/we can all be on the same page, i am sure it is not that simple but sometimes going back to a clean working state or a base without variables is a good start at seeing what the real issues are.
I think at least part of the issue is/was some people on here from the get go were demanding loudly that they see FS2020 content because they’d been told it would be available & port forward. “why can’t I see it you said it would be there” etc etc. The loud voices often dictate events without ever contemplating the consequences.
I would of thought the “port forwarding” would of been done further down the line so as to insure 100% compatibility, not much point seeing it at launch in the 2024 sim if it “does not work” and “causes issues in the sim” if its not working they/you/me simply will not use it anyway!
From having a look around in the sim what is also confusing is how FS2020 aircraft now show up in the “change aircraft” section of the sim (as they should), but they have absolutely no indication that they have been ported in from 2020. If you don’t recognise them as such from memory then you might wonder why they don’t work as expected. I think they should have some small indication or visible flag on them to say that they are fs2020 aircraft or fs2024 native.
This has to be a priority. The ability to deselect marketplace items from being streamed, AND the option to download the aircraft/scenery to our hard drives. I do understand the rationale of streaming everything. But we need the option to select/deselect items and installation options as we see fit.
I’d argue that once the streaming issues in terms of people even accessing the sim properly are resolved, this is THE priority.
You could argue that having everyone stream multiple aircraft a day is not helping with server bandwidth/loads and that it would help them out at least a bit in this regard if we just could download aircraft we want to use locally. It’s surely a win-win.
All add-ons that caused massive problems of various kinds in the previous version are now ‘forcibly’ installed in FS24! This makes it impossible to identify ‘true’ bugs and core issues of FS24! You should therefore consider speeding up this process in your own interest!
When 2024 first launched and i was able to regularly get into the sim I didn’t have a single CTD. A couple days later when all my old purchases were being steamed to 2024 I’m getting random CTDs. I’m 100% convinced the CTDs are caused by old broken and outdated purchases from the marketplace and i can’t even properly troubleshoot because of this mess. This needs to be priority #1. It probably would fix a lot of peooles CTD issues and it would definitely lighten the loads on the servers.
I might have figured out a workaround here. It’s painful, especially if you have a lot of marketplace 2020 content but it seems to have worked for me. PC only unfortunately. Feedback appreciated.
Exit out of MSFS2024 completely.
Find %AppData%\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\StreamedPackages
In that directory find the folder name of the broken whatever
Create an empty folder in the 2024 community folder of that name. This folder needs to have the same name but needs to be empty.
Launch sim and see if you have defaults or still the broken 2020 package.
Glad to hear this will be fixed with the Marketplace arrival but as others said this breaks the sim for many of us due to issues with the content that can’t be disabled
