…If your JOB is to build video games, and SU5 is what you bring to the table, then absolutely people deserve to get fired.
Or at least offer the PC community a rebate for being their Beta testers for the last year.

Alright you guys sulk in your own corner, I said my piece. Hope the hotfix helps you guys out.
The sad truth for everyone (even for those who have not had problems or who blamed them on others) that “vocalizing” a certain discontent leads to stances and “fast” hotfixes. (how fast and how effective we will see , but always better than nothing)
This kind of reasoning is horrible, but it seems to be the only one to work in many cases when supported by a vast majority , I think the path of understanding should be left for non-profit associations that really do good and not for those who offer a “service” for a payment (everyone’s money worked excellently from day one and have never changed in all this time)
People that are new to the sim have nothing to base it against.
Us PC players had a gorgeous supercar & after the money was taken it was swapped out for a Skoda hatchback.
If the hotfix will remove the Xbox stuff, maybe it can help.
PC and Xbox stuff together in one executable will always have an intersection of quality.
The better way would have been to communicate before the patch exactly how this performance improvement would be achieved, then we would have seen that to provide it, significant visual quality would be removed.
The whole core of this game to me was the incredible visuals and immersion, now I have no control over it, has been reduced significantly and my GPU utilisation has gone up.
In SU4 I had 60% GPU utilisation on ultra with a far higher quality product, now I get 90% utilisation in the menu system doing nothing and near face plant pop in.
At least give us control over this for PC.
I respectfully disagree.
The individual developers working at Asobo are not to be blamed IMHO.
They start at much lower salaries than say in Silicon Valley or Seattle. A lot of them are young, they are hard working, passionate about their work and they deserve our respect.
People will have a set of skills when they start, grow that skill set, etc, it’s like any job.
.
Any decision on product features, priorities, release schedules, quality assurance & control etc are not taken by the individual devs. It’s much higher up the food chain ![]()
Totally agreed
So…trying to play this with the same spirit, trying to forget what they did graphicly , the trees far away are terrible, even the external camera of the plane, the plane doenst have the smoothness , its is very bright, looking like cartoon colors…but whatever…
so i was flying, landed and also realized that they broke the cockpit graphics also, and then the visual bugs appear… :
“doenst let me post the video”
how the hell do they wrecked a game that was perfect then…worst graphics, bugs everywere… so disapointed.
Yes, there are many bugs inside now.
What we need is a good fix, not a hot fix.
Exactly my thoughts, to the point. I’m beginning to think the vast majority of the overnight converted Aboso Fan Boys are likely running mid-grade systems and are seeing a small fraction of the performance those of us with higher end systems were seeing prior to SU5. But to them it’s a significant improvement.
Well, in the way of the current world climate, we needed to level out the playing field. We lose they win, and we all get closer to the middle, where we’re all equal.
I believe that Asobo shifted some of the CPU factions over to the GPU because the CPU in the Xbox is very low end.
Maybe “we lose they win”, but it’s a short-term win for them. X-box users will “play” for a few months and then leave for the next shiny thing. And the real simmers will be left with… this. So more like “we lose they lose”.
Am I way off base here or isn’t this exactly what killed MS Flight awhile back? They tried to make it a more a game than a simulator to appeal to everyone, and they ended up appealing to no one?
I find it very interesting when you look into the past of all flight simulators.
10 years ago software developers had a difficult time creating flight simulators because the limitation of CPU power. So the visuals were turned down.
Today we have a lot of CPU’S from Intel and AMD that are 10 times more powerful.
But Microsoft/Asobo turns down the visuals? I believe you know the answer as to why.
You are absolutely right about that, the game looks worse and yet I now have almost double utilisation.
Sitting in the MSFS 2020 menu my GPU utilisation is now higher than when I play Assetto Corsa Competizione on max in VR.
Where did you get this number from? Haven’t seen no NPS nowhere…
Yeah man it was in their recent developments update stream about performance. Was like 3 weeks ago or something I’d say.
It was pretty insightful, from what they said there this update was a huge engine rebuild to lay the foundations for heaps of new and improved features.
I think that’s why everything is so busted because they did some work on the engine itself. It’s a frustrating time now but they seem clear on their vision for PC and what we have now is nothing more than an update gone wrong, they have much bigger plans.

Its the game that had the Icon A5 and basically only had Hawaii to fly around. They turned that into a game with a marketplace and it failed really bad.
