Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I find out about Known Issues

Click the link titled “Known Issues” in the hamburger menu, which is opened by clicking the button next to your profile picture on the navbar.

This page will be updated within a few days to reflect the latest patch.

How do I see my current version number?

Press Alt+Enter to change the program from full screen to windowed mode. The version number is at the top title bar of the window. Additionally, the version number is displayed by holding down Alt+Tab (above the window icon) or available in-game by clicking on your gamer tag profile icon from the top right of the main screen. The version name is displayed in the dialogue box under your gamer tag

Do I need to do anything with add-ons in the community folder?

We highly recommended that you move the content from your community folder to a temporary location on your hard drive before applying the patch and replacing after testing the new version.

What is the file size of the update?

Size to download:

Small update: 284,06 Mib (NavData, Airports improvement)

World Update IX: Italy bundle size:

PC: 4,63 Go (Disk space: 9 Go)
Xbox: 4,62 Go (Disk space: 6,72 Go)

Note the size of the update depends on the version of the game you have purchased. Don’t be alarmed if the update is smaller or larger

Why were certain bugs or issues not included in the patch notes?

The patch notes don’t mention everything that has been updated. If you are still experiencing an issue then file a ticket on Zendesk , using the “Submit a Request” option on the top menu bar. Include as much detail as possible, including the version of the game you are running. Remember the forums are not the official platform for bug tracking.

This patch is part of an ongoing patch release, so if your issue isn’t patched this time it does not mean it won’t ever get fixed! Check out the #self-service:bugs-issues category to see if others are reporting the same issues (where you can also vote if you have the same issue)

The Known Issues page will be updated within a few days to reflect the updated bugs.

How do I see my FPS?

Windows 10 has a built-in FPS counter in the Xbox Game Bar app. To use the FPS counter over your game, there are a few one-time steps you might need to take.

Important! You’ll need Xbox Game Bar version 3.34.11002.0 or later to use the FPS counter.

  1. Press Windows logo key Win + G to open Game Bar, then select Widget menu > Performance.
  2. Choose the FPS tab, then press Request access.
  3. Follow the prompts, then restart your PC for the changes to take effect.
When you launch a game, the FPS counter will be ready and waiting in Xbox Game Bar.

What should I do if the update doesn’t start automatically?

  1. Check Windows 10 for updates. If any, restart your PC
  2. Manually check MS Store for Updates
  3. Then update MSFS

If this still doesn’t work, the best course of action is to log out, restart your computer, and log back in.

What should I do if the update seems to stall or stop downloading?

The first thing to try is closing down MSFS and restarting it. The downloading should start again once MSFS is restarted. If there are problems with a particular file downloading repeatedly (on a loop) then exit MSFS and browse to the download location where the file is downloading to using windows explorer. Delete the offending file (if it is listed) or the latest downloaded file in that folder and then restart MSFS. The patch should continue as normal. (Note only delete files do not delete folders!)

Is there information on whether Venice, Rome and Naples are using updated photogrammetry renditions or if the existing ones are just mentioned in the patch notes?

I thought they said all the data was 2021, indicating these are also new.

Why AIRAC 2205 ??? The Airac 2204 runs till 20.05.2022 and even simbrief knows nothing…

to be clear, this WU9 is just scenery, right? or any other “hotfix like” code? just asking whether you expect me to gain some performance increase from LILO or LIRJ

I recall that, but I was thinking they were talking specifically about satellite imagery and mesh data. I’ll check again to see what exactly was said.

downloading now, although the biggest problems we have right now is the memory issues errors and performance degradation , that’s should be fixed ASAP.

Well, use your imagination…I imagine they’re assuming people would rather use early data that’s erroneous for only three days versus wait for the next update with out of date data for a lot longer.

If you use Navigraph, like I do (and I assume any serious PC simmer will) reinstall 2204 for the next few days after doing the WU, then install the update on time after, I guess?? My plan anyway. :+1:t3:

If you’re on XBox, don’t know what to tell you.

Hi!
Welcome to Italy, my country! For me is best place on earth, with colorful field, grape white and red for wine and a lot of areas of natural beauty. The flavoirs from the kitchens while going for a walk. There’s a lot of Mountains so try go for a challenge whit snow! We’ve also have a tons of beach, where you can land your amphibian planes! you may also known Italy for pizza or pasta… But is a truly wonderful place to visit!

Saluti dall’italia,

You were correct, Jörg said that all the data is “fresh” from 2021, which should include the photogrammetry data too. The three existing Italian photogrammetry cities looked amazing already, so hopefully they won’t be a downgrade in quality even if they are more recent (looking at London).

OK, so performance can hardly become “better” then I assume. Will see in few minutes

Hi, Thans for the info, makes sence…

Happy flying! Can’t wait to get home and load up myself.

To my understanding (according to some recent Q&A) at least Venice should have updated photogrammetry - I would hence expect that all cities mentioned in the changelog to have updated photogrammetry data.

I can’t say I noticed this before, but while downloading WU9, and scrolling down its page, I noticed that the progress meter gets pinned before it scrolls off the top.

However it look like its partially obscured by the top banner. A nice feature though, just needs another quality pass. Perhaps have it pop over the top banner while download is active.

Now I’m really nitpicking! When it switches from “Downloading” to “Decompressing”, the box keeps changing width, which looks a little shonky. It might be best to choose a fixed width, probably one that fits the longer “Decompressing”, and leave it like that.

Anyway, that’s my comprehensive review of WU9 completed.

They’re not expecting performance increase, but rather want to know if there’s degradation. World updates can cause performance issues. Hell, I still can’t fly in the UK with the UK update without it tanking my frame rates.

Well that update was painful, all self inflicted though!

Got the alert for the initial update (Navdata, etc…) It got stuck on 3% and just kept cycling. Shut it down, removed my Navigraph data, renamed community folder. Started back up, it needed to repair I assume and did a 20GB install which went fine.

Got back in, shut it down, put community folder back and Navigraph data. Fired back up, still no Italy update.

Restart several times, realized not only do I not have Italy, I also don’t have WU8.

Then I emerged from my seniors moment to remember I actually have to go select it in the Marketplace first and stop looking for updates in Content Manager… Whoops!

All is well, nothing to see here
