Discussion + Poll: World Update IX: Italy (1.25.9.0)

THE TREES, THE TREES.

OMG Asobo/MS, how could you let the tree issue in cities deploy to production?

They’re making sure the sim is carbon neutral… :winking_face_with_tongue:

I’ve never been so sold on the PG as much as many seemingly are, there are too many issues that come up when you disable PG and keep the Bing Imagery on. PG looks great depending on the distance. I can’t wait until 3rd party scenery designers are able to edit PG around their scenery to where you’re not seeing all the anomalies, like trees that appear as mounds and tearing in runways.

But the ā€˜fix’ posted above just removes trees entirely so you end up with big green polygons, right?

We need smaller trees, Asobo already did it once, they could tweak it again.

Why do you say most of us. I think it’s the other way around. Most of us are happy with this update.

lol, check the bug report section, we are plenty having more issues since, this is why i say it man.
From dropped frame to missing region and inacurate citys, not sure how you managed to see just the good stuff but many people are unhappy.

SF Bay Area does look really good, and most of SoCal as well.

I never get bored of flying up north past the golden gate

In PG areas everywhere, all looks melted, not only buildings, yes trees too, if you go near enough, but from far they look ok.
The trouble is, that in PG areas, there are auto gen trees too, which aren’t melted obviously, and that turns the cities to jungles.
And that’s also why we get trees growing on ships for example…

basically, autogen trees aren’t being removed where there’s photogrammetry scenery, and the autogen trees are about 3-5x bigger than they should be - so you get way too much coverage.

also, the game is drawing 2 sets of trees in this case, so removing autogen trees might give back a tiny bit of perf. or not…

IDK if dev’s didn’t like the look of PG trees and wanted to blend the autogen trees to cover it up - but PG looks way more realistic. ( or maybe they should be suppressed and aren’t for whatever reason )

Is there a method to delete partial installation if I had CDT while installing and now I am stuck on checking for updates when starting the sim? I cannot get to the content manager…

Fun fact: Greta Thunberg is one of developers.

You forgot to mention the veneto girlsšŸ˜€

It seems that you are stuck when the installation manager appears.
I have not experienced this myself, but you might do a search here on the forum.
Use ā€˜stuck on installation manager’ in the search box.
Some users experienced this as well an could solve it.
For example:
Stuck on Installation Manager - Bug Reports / Install, Performance & Graphics - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums
I do not know at which point of the startup process the content of your community folder is relevant, but you might consider renaming your community folder. It does not hurt doing so.

I was also hit by this forum rule: you cannot promote for vote. Yes I know, I know…
But be reassured, I don’t think I’m the only one who get special attention with a flagged post. I mean I often read quickly threads as they grow so quickly, but when I see a flagged post I always, always, expand it to read it carefully. I’m not judging rules obviously, just see here a ā€œcaveatā€ on the logic…

i do the same and almost give more attention to flagged posts as they reflect real user experience, i even believe that as a general rule, if devs doesn’t get reports of ā€œstressed forumā€ they will not look into it.
Facebook group is getting full of frustrated xbox and pc users, i am going to re re re re re instal windows and the sim (5th time in 2 weeks).

You could say good bye to your framerates though if the resolution was higher. Its the unfortunate downside of photogrammetry. It can look great from above but get in close and it looks like your screenshot.

The PG of Venice is of a higher resolution than some others I’ve seen. They’ve obviously increased it a bit since its a smaller area.

This is what I don’t really get about the current fuss over the Italy tree coverage. The sim has been like this since day one and Asobo still haven’t really looked at it. So many cities are like jungles and there’s way too many trees over various mountainsides world wide. The Scottish highlands have always been particularly bad. I don’t see why so many people have just picked up on it.

I personally probably haven’t paid quite enough attention to notice it, plus a lot of other cities do not suffer with this issue. London, for example.

They do once you start noticing it. The over density of trees plagues pretty much the entire planet. I don’t see why its never been rectified since I would have thought it would just involve Asobo dialling a few settings back a bit.
