Discussion: Sim Update 3 (1.14.5.0)

There was not much detail, but they said they had already solved “1 of the issues” that they found was to do with a very specific hardware setup. So I’m guessing there are many issues to do with many specific bugs. I also take that to mean that there is NO ethos of “oh that effects one person so we wont bother fixing that”. If they find a bug that they can fix, they fix it.

Yep, that sucks for you, I’m sorry.

They are working on it. Potentially a hot fix, they are discussing the option.

Thanks for the recap. Reading it does not make me feel better, in fact it makes me angry.

If they admit that they know that something does not look good or work correctly, then why release it in the first place? It just makes for more trouble.

This whole “be patient, we are working on it” seems to be a theme.

I have watched each QA they have done, and they never instill confidence. It is as if they are always playing catch up and have no real plan, just putting out fires that they start.

I couldn’t care less about the world updates and the animals, etc. I just want a smooth playing game where most of the avionics work as expected and the planes fly well. I also want nice clouds and realistic weather. I had almost all that prior to this SU3 fiasco.

Again, thanks for posting the recap.

After the first couple of Q&A’s it became quite clear actions speak louder than placating words.

Really ? Is Asobo actually “HIRING” the Working Title team, or are the really just developing a closer communication and exchange of information with them ( like with Aerosoft) ?

Has anyone noticed something is wrong with the TAS and Groundspeed.
I was just flying into Blackpool airport runway 28 with a windspeed of 10 Kts from 90 degrees so basically a headwind of 10 Kts.
My Ground speed was showing as 77Kts and my TAS as 67 Kts, surely that’s the wrong way round?

Performance wise I was also affected by the massive fps drop/stutter but after a bit of playing around I seem to be back to the pre patch performance again.

After the patch I did my usual Test flight from Carlisle (EGNC) to Walney Island (EGNL) across the lake district, with the weather set to Scattered clouds.
I have my 3700X/2070 Super system set to 30 fps, locked via the Nvidia control panel and with Vsync on from there too.
It was fine when I spawned on the runway, I was getting my usual smooth 30fps and looking around left and right and a quick 360 view from the external camera, all seemed fine.
I then zoomed in to dial in a direct route to EGNL and once that was done returned to the normal cockpit view.
This immediately dropped me from 30 fps to about 10-15 fps.
Basically a slideshow.
I started up task manager and could see my GFX card was only at about 25% and my CPU was showing at 50% (would normally be about 20% for CPU there).
After about 20 seconds or so it seemed to go back to 30fps so I took off and got to about 3000ft and was about half way to EGNL when it suddenly dropped back to 10-15fps again. Same thing showing in Task manager, low GPU usage and higher than usual CPU usage.

I checked all my settings were the same as usual and they were all ok, so I restarted the PC and tried the same flight again. I got the same low fps problems again but at different points in the flight. I was ok taking off but got the problems about 2 minutes after, and then again a few miles out from landing at EGNL.

I then went down my usual route when I’ve had problems in the past which is to close down the sim and restart the PC. Go to the Nvidia control panel and restore the Global settings and the settings for flight sim to the default Nvidia settings.

I then restarted the Sim and went into the graphics options and chose the preset for High and started a flight. After a short while I returned to main menu and shut down again.

I then reset my NVidia control panel settings back to my preferred setup, restarted sim and reset all my graphics options back to my usual mix.

Since then I’ve had about 10 flights and no recurrence of the low FPS problems, all smooth and back to my normal 30fps.

They’ve been hired. Watch Q&A.

Yes, but will this make Asobo better or make WT worse? Kinda like mixing sugar with salt. Is it then sweet salt or salty sugar

Asobo has not hired WT. Microsoft has made a contract with WT.

Well, we’ve got our wish. They’re not doing monthly updates any more in order to improve on quality.

There lies the rub - this ISN"T software for a hospital or critical equipment. If it was it would cost way, way more $. I understand the sentiment that it isn’t the best way it’s being handled for sure, but it’s not life or death. I’m for my part hopeful that it will get straightened out, but I don’t think aggressively berating Asobo and denigrating their efforts constantly is the best approach to improve things.

I rolled back to nvidia driver 457.30 last night and it’s smooth again, actually even smoother. I run it on VR as well. You guys should try it?

Rather suspect you’d be paying more than$60 dollars for it then. Your choice - be patient and enjoy what you have or uninstall and walk away. You decide

Err? Think you did though

Precisely.

This is a simulator game. The developers are incredibly ambitious and determined.

They are also human, they’ve made mistakes… they even said that in the Q&A!

I’m sorry for people who have been hit by issues but if you think Asobo don’t give a ■■■■ about you the you are (thankfully) mistaken, they’re working on it.

Submit a Zendesk ticket and help them out.

Ummmm… If you are landing on runway 28 and the wind is 90 degrees at 10 knots you are landing with a 10 knot tailwind my friend.

Erm yeah, a typo I meant wind was from 290. I had little nav map on at the time with the wind direction showing and it was veering a bit from 270 to 290 but it was definitely a headwind.
I’ll setup the same flight again and give it another go when I get a bit of spare time.
