Now VR Friendly Prop Mod has Foxes on its list. It makes the rotating prop almost invisible.
Tried today on freedom fox. Over water to remove ground wind effects, preset conditions with 2kt wind, flying directly in wind direction to remove any imbalance. Trimmed for hands off flight at constant velocity and altitude. At 85kt it goes from level to 20deg left bank in 9 seconds, at 75kt in 12s and 67kt in 13s.
I cannot find any combination where the preset trim tabs balance this aircraft.
I have v1.1.0 on xbox which is the latest available on marketplace.
Add the one-wheeler and / or a passenger.
Then try again.
Yes Iāve just figured out a workaround for this. In the fuel dialogue you can edit the onewheel mass. I found that 22kg for the onewheel, and the default bag on the passenger seat with nothing else changed would balance the low and slow variant at 1500ft and 85kt. The picture below shows the bank after 60 seconds, it is maybe 1-2 degrees? This is much better and quite hand flyable now. 23kg gave the same amount of error in the other direction.
If I set this before I fly I can treat it as a simulation of the ground trim tabs which works for me, and still needs to be flown when not trimmed in cruise.
Thanks for this tip!!
You have rescued the usability of the FF for me!!
This may be a stupid question, but what is that OneWheel thing actually for in real life??
I think itās like a one wheeled skateboard.
And youāre supposed to tip your wing and run it across the ground? The wing extends out too far for the wheel to make contact looks like!
Ohhh!!! I thought it was some plane attachment!! Iām clearly not street enough in my old age!
Thatās okay, I wasnāt sure myself!
I assumed that it was a spare tailwheel on a mount, or a tailskid swap for mud/snow landings to keep your tail from digging in.
Well, we are both wrong then hahah
Itās a dude-item
And doubles-up as a handy roll trim correction device!
Haha you guys are funny with your suggestions for the onewheel! Admittedly it is an unusual cargo to strap on a wing.
Yeah right!! It would easily fit behind the seat! Iād be scared of dropping it. If that landed on someoneās head, it would kill them!
I wonder if Trent puts it out there to help trim the plane. Maybe the workaround I posted is true to life?
Another onewheel can be found in front of Palmerās house at newly added FFOX.
Anyway, after the recent update, Freedomfox looks very smooth and vr-friendly.
EDIT: Unfortunately, this add-on still needs optimization work especially for VR. Flying this over the dense forests and urban areas always hits performance.
I think heās mentioned before that the One Wheel on the wing strut is close to the CG so it doesnāt affect the balance much. Behind the seat would shift the CG more.
Thatād be the forward-rear CoG. Thereās no way itās anywhere near the left-right CoG and is definitely having an impact there.
Its this the actual strip on the mulberry at Byrds?
Yes it is. I released it on Flightsim.to a while back. I have an updated version coming out soon, but the old one should still work fine.
