FS2020 does not start

After almost two hours, I was finally able to download and install the Xbox, but unfortunately MSFS was not.
The installation stops at 0% and after several minutes an error appears: error code 0x00000001

Ideas, ideas, ideas ???

I’ve probably done everything.

Somehow my clock time was incorrect, so just setting my time update to automatic fixed the problem. thanks!

Same problem here Dec 1 but reset and repair Now its gone to the install page again and wants to reinstall it all 158.57 GB

well, I pointed it to the location now it looks like it is going to load never had this problem before will see

I believe you and I had exactly the same problem, mine a short while ago. I managed to get mine loaded again after using this from the Microsoft forums

If you get the error code 0x00000001, reinstall the Gaming Services app on your Windows 10/11 device:

Select the Search icon on the taskbar, type powershell, right-click on Windows PowerShell, and then select Run as administrator.
In Windows PowerShell, type the following command and press Enter:
get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers
In the same window, type the following command and press Enter:
start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN
Install the app on that page and select Yes when you receive the User Account Control (UAC) prompt.
Restart your device and try to install the game again.

If you get sent to the Store when you try to launch a game, reinstall the Gaming Services app on your Windows 10/11 device:

Select the Search icon on the taskbar, type powershell, right-click on Windows PowerShell, and then select Run as administrator.
In Windows PowerShell, type the following command and press Enter:
get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers
In the same window, type the following command and press Enter:
start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN
Install the app on that page and select Yes when you receive the User Account Control (UAC) prompt.
Restart your device and try to install the game again.

Thank you very much to everyone who tried to help me in difficult moments
After nearly a week of unsuccessful attempts, reinstalling Windows, and many hours spent with Xbox consultants, I was finally able to find a solution to my problems on the Internet.
I will include them here for other people with similar MSFS installation hang issues to take advantage.
Here’s the FIX for anyone in the same boat as me:

  • Open Settings —> System
  • On the left column, choose the Storage tab then choose “Change where new content is saved”
  • Change “New apps will save to:” to whatever drive you want (in my case, M: Drive)
  • START → SETTINGS → APPLICATIONS. For this app: Microsoft Store, XBox, Game Services, Application Installer → perform an action - RESET
  • Wait 2mins, then restart the PC (???)

Microsoft Store has now created the required folders for Xbox app to use.
Repeat steps 1 to 3 to change your location back to default if you wish.

Hello, I have been following this thread, but with no success for my MSFS2020 problem.
I have the DVD version of MSFS2020.
It was working OK last Wednesday, then on Thursday, it came up and said that it could not start. I looked on here first off and tried all the suggestions given, without success.
I have tried the repair option and even tried the reset option.
When the program first refused to start, it took me to the Microsoft Store page. It gave two options, Play or Reinstall. Both of those options did nothing.
Now there is no response whatsoever when I click on the game icon.
I tried right clicking and telling it Run As Administrator, but it still does nothing.
I took the DVD out and reinserted it. It starts by saying that it is preparing the Installshield Wizard, then just goes to the Microsoft Store home page.
How can I resolve this if even trying a physical reinstall doesn’t work?

The DVD should only be used for initial installation. Any reinstalls would be from the MS Store or Xbox App. When you first install from a DVD, it turns it into a digital license in the MS Store.

Is MSFS showing up in the Xbox app to install from?

There are some known issues right now:

Hello,

after some more hours from morning, after meal I’ve returned back to the hobby. Now? Same as OP, sim not start, Icon from taskbar disapeares and this Main Menu Icon indicates:

MSFS Start Menu indication

My luck I can restore sim’s Icon to my taskbar via this Icon but what to do now??? Nothing works… My bad that I have closed sim, as stated in previous similar situations. Unbelievable…

When this happens to me, MS Store version, I first check MS Store for updates, then Windows Update. Then restart the PC. What I’ve noticed is that if there’s an update to “Gaming Services” or the Xbox App - always restart the PC.

I don’t have Xbox app, never have. How do I reinstall from MS Store, when I cant even see MSFS2020 on it?

With the Xbox App. Download that from the MS Store and sign into it with your Xbox account used to buy MSFS with. MS Store also needs that same log in.

I didn’t buy it online with an Xbox account. I bought the 10 DVD boxed Premium Deluxe edition.

Once you install from the disc, it creates a digital record in the store.
Recently, MS changed some things and reinstalling from the Xbox app is now the only way to do so.

I have the same problem. MSFS doesn´t start. Now it asks for the “disc”. I never had a disc. I bought this as an online version via Microsoft.

All that means is that there is an issue with the Xbox app.
Try signing out and then back in to it.

Hi everyone! Looks like I can’t start Fs2020, just like other people here. (I have steam version on PC). I am asked to login, via an XBox prompt (never had it before). I try to insert my username and password of Microsoft account, but it says it’s not correct. Strange.

If you are still having issues that a restart of the sim doesn’t solve, try resetting the Xbox app.

Thank you this helped in some way. At least the sim isn´t asking for the disk anymore. But it seems that I still don´t have full access to my settings and logbook.
