FSDreamTeam GSX for MSFS

Can someone please help me. For some strange reason I cannot get those GSX Pro liveries on the jetways. It is super annoying! I have deleted and reinstalled countless times to no avail. :frowning: Can someone PLEASE help me  SOS

Were the CTDs due to testing by Asobo in preparation for SU10 or are people still getting them?

I’m not using the Fenix but I definitely use the assistance menu! Will give this a try thanks!

In the majority of cases, CTD’s were caused by Asobo testing the last week. Many simmers suffered them, even who didn’t have GSX.

Do you get the fuel truck animation? In my case, the fuel truck comes and stay there till refuel is done. Nobody links the fueltruck and the plane with hoses, and nobody connect the fuel truck with the underground fuel tank. Is very weird.
However, if I choose the fuel tanker truck instead of underground fueling, animations are displayed… can anyone give me a clue? I think I’m doing something wrong.

Nope. I saw a post where someone said you can define a slightly further outboard location under the wing as the refueling point and the fuel will then park a little further away and the whole animation will work. However, Umberto said they’ll be doing all this custom per-plane configuring once everyone’s issues with updating and the bigger glitches are resolved. I’m not too worried about this one quite yet - I just want the cargo loaders and stuff to get setup correctly for the two -800 cargo variants like they are for the -700 BDSF.

Yeah, I think I saw that post too. The issue is the 737 wing is too low for the tanker type being used (the ground transfer one, where a platform is meant to lift up and the person animates connecting it). If you move the refueling spot out so it’s higher up (towards the end of the wing) on the 737 then a bigger tanker turns up and the animation works on that one. The downside is it’s not a ground connect, just a plain tanker. (MUH IMERSIONS!S! etc).

They mentioned what they need to do is an animation for the smaller ground connect tanker that doesn’t involve a platform lift to get to the wing, so hopefully they do that soon.

There is a GSX profile for the BCF on flightsim.to

This ‘cloudfare node’ nonsense is beyond a joke now. I’ve never ever experienced a product that, well over a week past release, is unable to update itself online.

I can’t help but feel something else is going on here and this is some excuse to cover it. How much longer do we have to wait for this exceptionally basic feature to work?

I’m familiar with how to use AWS CloudFront and it’s likely what they did was put up a bunch of files with exactly the same names/paths and then have not really built the concept of ‘invalidations’ or caching built into how they use it.

It’s sort of like how a browser’s cache works, in that if you upload a file e.g. file1.txt and then people all downloaded it. But say you then want to update file1.txt to a new version, you’d upload a new updated copy - but the issue is because it’s a ‘Content Distribution Network’ (CDN) then each ‘end point’ (basically a more local server to where you are geographically) is still serving the old one with the same name - the local ‘node’ will only look back every 12 hours or so for a new one. Now imagine this with something with a hierarchy of 500 files. Chaos.

So what they are doing wrong is that you need to tell Cloudflare to go invalidate the old version so these end points will all go refresh their local stores rather than serve old ones. The trouble with that (and that they probably discovered by now) is that you aren’t really meant to use it like that and each invalidation costs a (tiny) amount of money. The better way would be when you upload something you set something called an ETAG and then have your downloader code respect that as a form of versioning. Finally the old school way of just versioning the filenames so they ‘bust cache’ every time e.g. file1-v1.txt will always update if it is named file1-v2.txt' by URI.

So the TL;DR is they had a good idea of using a CDN to help with file download speed and capacity but they didn’t have a great understanding of how to make it work with their existing distribution installers and build system. They make moving ground stuff for flight sims, so I guess that happens. While it’s not good, I think Hanlon’s Razor applies to this one..

I found that file this afternoon and gave it a try but it doesn’t work - it’s the same problem most people are having when we try to customize the planes: one or more of the customized door locations aren’t being recognized and used. For me, the BCF config file on flightsim lines up the cargo loader fine, but the front crew stairs are completely wrong, in the default position.

FWIW, every time I’ve tried to customize something for a plane in GSX, I get similar results: at least one item reverts to its default location the next time I load the plane.

So, beyond the glitches, it is safe to say it won’t cause CTDs?

Seems stable for now

A really interesting reply, thanks.

Either way, this method of updating is a bit ridiculous and there is no end in sight.

someone knows how to enable the standard tooltip so that I can get the alerts of GSX in VR ? I can see them in 2D but not in VR

I get a repeatable and distinct CTD with GSX.

This only happens to me using the Salty 747, HD 78XH, and the CS777-200/300 with Salty compatibility mod.

The sim crashes once I click on the AI assistance icon on the MSFS toolbar after pushback.

Very strange as it never happens with the FBW a32nx and PMDG 737-800

My feedback after 6 days.

I requested a refund and it was effective immediately (paypal payment). Thank you very much and sorry for that :frowning:
I installed GSX on August 22 and had the impression to pay “quite a lot” for an early access, honestly.

This addon is probably promising, but I had too many bugs with it, I don’t like its installer at all.

For the CTD : since August 22 I have a lot of them. I play since the alpha in MSFS (december 2019) and I never had a simulator as unstable as since August 22. I’m not saying that GSX is responsible (it’s not the .dll that has been in the news a lot this week either too). But I’m afraid it could have a negative effect on my simulator and I don’t want to take any risk.

I’ll wait a few months to see, but I doubt I’ll buy this addon again for the moment.

That’s a good point.

I tested it for more than 5 hours non-stop. I set up a lot of locations and had a little trouble understanding everything but during the 5 hours, not a single CTD! Good performance. No bug found. It would be necessary to reduce some passengers a little, a little too tall to enter the plane.

Tested with SU10 Beta.17 and DX11.

More people have problems starting Couatl? It just won’t start today? restarted and updated everyting but gsx wont work…

Getting annoyed paying like 30 euro’s for this, because it is still with a lot of issues and their forum is unreachable
