I loaded up Dave’s Hunter trainer variant today. I noticed that the canopy texture file, glass _t.dds, needs to have the alpha darkened to allow better visibility. I also noticed that the pilot’s helmet visors were showing through the canopy glass texture. The visors do not have a texture attached to them, so I tried to add one using MCX but the aircraft model ran into an error when recompiling. I’ll have to have a further look at this.
BTW, for those who have seen the payware Bleriot that’s available for MSFS, a fantastic freeware alternative is available in the form of Craig Richardson’s Eastbourne Monoplane for FSX. It flies and looks very well in the new sim. I don’t have any screenshot’s to hand, but it’s well worth getting.
Yes, the Shackleton is an old time fave of mine - was one of the first I did for FS2020. I was disappointed that I couldn’t get the Bassett working, though. It converts very well, but I can’t get the thing moving on the ground and tbh I’m not sure what I can do to try and resolve that.
I’ve also converted a Halifax, but not got around to testing it yet - I’m really busy at the moment with projects in IL-2 and DCS World as well as FS2020, so having trouble finding the time. DCS takes priority as I’m under contract for that - the others are spare time stuff.
Is that the AH Lanc?
The Lanc was from First Class Simulations. I used to have their Wellington too, but can’t find the original purchase files to try it. One big surprise for me was the success of converting the Real Air Spitfire.

I managed to get Dave’s Hunter trainers installed. They look and fly very well. Here’s a few screenshots..

Did you change the glass?
I darkened the alpha channel , glass _t.dds
Not sure I have any software to do that three days Any chance you could share that one file with me?
Sure, send me your email address via private message and I’ll send it on to you.
Message sent. Thanks.

How did you get the vc working? I have tried with C17 and a 400m and only get the exterior working, the vc keeps inop. I use legacy importer but no luck with vc at all. Any tip that you want to share? Maybe I am missing one single step.
Scroll up the thread. He recorded a whole video on converting planes…
Yeah, you have to make sure you get both panel conversions/extraction sorted. That’s on the panel tab at the top and bottom of the page.
Not all model VCs work, it depends on various things. I’m looking at getting the gauges sorted today, so hopefully that will fix a number of conversions that fell down at the VC stage.
Which C-17 and A400M were you trying to convert?

In order for the gauges to display they need to be 3d modelled as part of the virtual cockpit. MFD screens of FSX models will not work as they are essentially 2D gauges superimposed on the modelled screen. If you have a FSX aircraft with 3d modelled “steam” gauges, then you have a good chance of them displaying. Now, as to whether they display the correct information is another thing entirely!
I’m continuing to test and fiddle but will take it to the website now - I’ll use images to present the database, rather than putting a database itself on the page due to the Google docs fiasco.
