2 tags are required: One for platform, and one for aircraft.

Are you using Developer Mode or made changes in it?

No

Have you disabled/removed all your mods and addons? If the issue still occurs with no mods and add-ons, please continue to report your issue. If not, please move this post to the User Support Hub.

yes

Which aircraft are you reporting an issue about? (Please also add the proper tag for it)

C172 and DA62 but probably all aircraft using G1000.

Which aircraft version are you experiencing this issue on? (You can find this listed in the Content Manager under the Aircraft Name)

Cessna 172 version 0.1.112, Diamond DA62 version 0.1.97 (Default Liveries)

Brief description of the issue:

Starting yesterday, the popout window for the MFD screen does not appear in the C172 and DA62 planes - both are equpped with G1000. Other Garmin systems WTG 3000, AS3X and G3X-Touch do not have this problem - both popout windows appear.

Provide Screenshot(s)/video(s) of the issue encountered:

Nothing to show - popout does not happen.

Detailed steps to reproduce the issue encountered:

Load C172 or DA62, press Right-Alt and click in PFD, then Right-Alt and click in MFD. Only the PFD popout window appears.

PC specs and/or peripheral set up if relevant:

not relevant - other nav system popout windows work correctly.

Build Version # when you first started experiencing this issue:

1.37.19.0 worked fine until just yesterday only.

Hi @SeaCelery810439 ,

Thank you for this report. We’ve moved your topic into the User Support Hub.

The Bug Reporting Hub is for posting suspected or confirmed bugs that other users are able to reproduce without duplicating an existing bug report. Using the template or providing all the relevant information about your bug and sim setup is required in order to provide valuable information, feedback, and replication steps to our test team.

If you are not sure if your issue is a bug or need further input from the community, please use the User Support Hub category. If the community can replicate your issue, first search the Bug category to see if there’s an existing topic. If it already exists, contribute to that report. Duplicate bug reports will be closed.

If you believe it is a new report and no duplicate exists, then create a new bug topic using the provided topic template.

All issues caused by or involving third-party addons/mods should be reported to the third-party developer. Assure that no addons/mods are used when reporting issues in Bug Reports.

I have tried a few things and still can’t get the G1000 map display to pop out. The problem applies to any plane that uses G1000 but not to other Garmin systems so I am looking at how to update or replace the G1000 files without having to reload the entire FS2020 package.

Done some web searches but found nothing helpful. All info is 3 years old and applies to the time before WorkingTitle G1000 was integrated into MSFS2020.

In Content Manager I have these two entries that are specific to the G1000:
Garmin G1000 Nxi by WorkingTitleSimulations, 0.14.0, 26Kb (very small file!)
WorkingTitle G1000 Nxi by WorkingTitleSimulations, 1.3.10, 10.3Mb

Also in File Manager, Offical-OneStore folder I can see the two sub-folders where these files are saved - the titles and size of file correspond to the Content Manager entries.

If I just deleted these two folders would FS2020 automatically reload them?

I am not sure about that, maybe they will appear as an update is available in your content manager.
What I would recommend to try 1st is to start in safe mode: to achieve that once in the sim, go to Windows Task manager, terminate msfs.exe and restart, you’ll get safe mode option.

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?

No

Only WorkingTitle G1000 Nxi as “mandatory update”.
You can download manually Garmin G1000 Nxi via content manager or marketplace.

Starting in Safe Mode made no difference, still can’t get MFD popout in G1000

Is your keyboard profile set to default ?, if not try with that default profile.

No change when using keyboard Default Profile.

Still haven’t found the fix for this. I deleted the g1000 folder in Official. When I started the sim after that it automatically reloaded the missing folder, I can see it is dated today. Still no fix. I am at the point of uninstalling the entire sim but hope there is still something else I can try.

The reason I am trying to get this to work is that I use two monitors, big one above the smaller one on my Lenovo gaming laptop. I like to put the out-the-windscreen view on the upper monitor and these popout windows on the laptop monitor for good visibility - just using one monitor for the cockpit combined forward view and map display at the same time doesn’t give very good map detail for my old eyes.

When you hover the cursor over the PFD and press RIGHT-ALT, does the cursor change to the magnifying glass? If it doesn’t then that indicates that - for whatever reason - the sim doesn’t think that it is a poppable screen. Whereas if you get the cursor, but clicking does nothing, that’s a different issue. There’s always been an issue with the G1000 that you can’t pop out either screen with the aircraft power off, but since you can pop out the MFD you must be doing it with the power on, so that can’t be the issue, I assume.

Yep, as mentioned in the sources I provided, a popout window can appear outside the monitor’s visible area.

Thanks for the suggestions!
I will pursue all the suggested threads and look into auto popup manager - I didn’t know there was such a thing!

I do see the cursor change to “+” icon when over the MFD and double-clicking still does not make the MFD popup appear. Notice I said it does not appear. I believe that a window is actually being created but it is somewhere off the current display memory area, temporarily. I will try to explain:

I have been trying to get the MFD popup while using both the laptop and external monitors at same time, my normal flying mode. After right-Alt-doubleClick on the cockpit MFD, if I DISCONNECT THE EXTERNAL MONITOR then the MFD popup magically appears on the laptop monitor along with the main FS window and PFD popup if enabled. This will happen in either full screen or windowed mode.

I’d guess that the MFD window was probably created in memory but with the external monitor connected that memory location is not within the actual display of either monitor. When the external monitor is disconnected, some transformation instantly takes place that moves that window to active display memory.

What happens if I then re-connect the external monitor, with the popouts and main window displayed on the laptop? When I am in windowed mode, the main FS window can now be dragged up to the external monitor and both popouts remain on the laptop, still visilble. That is a workaround, but if I accidentally close the MFD popout I could not start it again unless I repeat the process of disconnecting the external monitor.

Strange that this problem suddenly appeared a few days ago. I had not noticed any Windows or FS updates.
