Helicopters are hard

Well if you have only a Joystick its hard to fly Helis in the sim…thats the reason why I like the EC145 HPG as there is a AP which i can use for hover missions or longer flights

This is a thing that I don’t understand. They don’t released the new content to beta user because would ruin the “surprise”. Users couldn’t contributed and sent thoso bugs. If was this way, maybe today we were really celebrating the anniversary without suffering to keep choppers in the air for some seconds and boooom, crash.

Sad

that I mentioned in the other topic " a conflict with the settings ". Thats very often happen in DCS and at the beginning of MSFS we had similiar stuff ( e.g. FLAPS key )

Also the sensitivity settings are very important for a helicopter.. Otherwise you make to “big” movements and you can never “fine enough” steer the heli.

Really,

this is my first time of this kind of strange conflict from sim day 1.

I thought all users heard from the heading bug

But I remember also other cases. I’am sensitive here, because as mentioned, I searched some of that kind of issue in DCS too

I don’t mean to be argumentative, but I’m afraid I have to disagree with you Wanchaibanzai and Omico4146. This does not appear to be a control setup problem.

The situation I have is: 2 computers, both with nothing but mouse and keyboard connected. Both with control configurations and all sim settings the same (I went through every option menu on both computers and chose “reset to default” on every screen).
In this setup there is surely no scope for setting up the controls wrong or having bad sensitivity. There is nothing to have sensitivity on!

If I spawn both computers into the same custom location where the heli is already in flight and weather is set to calm, they behave totally differently. On one machine the heli is basically stable and although it slides around a bit, it can remain aloft indefinitely. On the other machine it immediately begins rolling wildly and within 5-10 seconds it is almost upside down, without a single touch of the controls!

This is not a case of it “feeling” different, because in both cases I am not touching anything. There is an undeniable difference in the behaviour of the sim. This has persisted through a full uninstall and reinstall of the sim. I understand that this is bizarre which is why I’m so confused. Honestly I have no idea what else to try :frowning:

I think I found my issue. I went to options > general > flight model and it was set to ‘FSX’. I set it to ‘realistic’ and restarted (didn’t seem to take immediately) and now everything seems work fine.

Nice, waiting that Asobo will kill that switch. If someone want to use FSX models, use FSX……

Can confirm,

I have Realistic from first days set probably. No FSX to me…

This is exactly what I feel right now. I checked everything, all settings. Strange behaviours I have just with two new helis from yesterday update. I do not believe I have change of sensitivity or binding or any that kind of stuff because of the update. Everything looks exactly the same as before update. I just can’t fly this helis and I do not understand why group of peoples like me have this issue. Now I just thinking that maybe this happened because of the bad server connection and something going on with last update, missing files or something, do no. In the end we have to just give up or reinstall hole sim again… Or waiting for any solution from Asobo.

I made a wish list to gradually adjust the realism of the helicopter. Thus, the lead pilot of the novice helicopter would have the opportunity to gradually increase the realism, according to his knowledge.

Regardless of the stability problem, I also noticed that for the xbox controller the trudder remains blocked on the left or on the right instead of returning to the middle. To realize it is enough to look at the movement of the pedals in cockpit view.

the expeced flight-model for the new helicopters is the “Modern” model…

Update - essentially I am taking back what I posted yesterday. Yes, helicopters are hard, but I guess what the joke is, is the new default helicopter profile for the Thrustmaster T.16000M joystick. It doesn’t appear to allow for an axis assignment for the tail rotor. I went back to my standard profile and voila, I can control the helicopters! I don’t understand why they would create a profile that only allows for trim control of the tail rotor. It’s just bizarre.

Maybe that’s why I don’t have any problems, I never used their new profile.

Hmm. I just change profiles when I switch planes, I.e. from 2 engines to 4 engines. So most of all Aircraft incl. helicopters will be flown with my standard setting which fits to the 737, Airbus, H145 and some other smaller Aircraft.

Amazing ! It is work for me. The bug is fixed now with this setting. Thank you onkelfalk

Lol, so another “bug” that was not a bug. I wonder why there’s still people using legacy model.

This was fixed by changing to legacy and then back to modern, but you must go to he main menu for these changes. If you are still “in” the helicopter when you make the change it won’t work.

My post oh this very topic was closed and I was directed here. This is not a problem of poor technique. My setup works very well on XPlane which has good flight dynamics. I can also fly the Bell 47g on MSFS at realistic setting. So even if it was about technique, I should be able to fly more than 20 feet without crashing. This is something else. I responded to someone on a YouTube video who was having the exact same problem. He later posted that he fixed the problem by “resetting” MSFS. Not sure what he meant by that (have asked for clarification. Will report back if I hear or find out). I tried a reset and nothing happened. Same behavior. Have tried deleting all controller profiles and rebuilding from scratch. No joy. Have tried multiple joysticks and it’s the same: Extreme oscillations and then crash. Have not tried deleted cloud because I am not ready to lose my logbook just yet. Below is a quick video of what I am experiencing:
