Hey. Your post is awesome!! Thanks for posting your toughts
I just can’t leave FSX without…
Flysimware Learjet 35A (My favorite aircraft)
Deltasim Yachts and Boats
Nemeth Helicopters
DC Design Concorde
RealAir Legacy & Dukes(Now Freeware)
I’m so glad this has made it almost a day remaining a positive thread, and sharing a lot of love for FSX!
FS2020 and FSX each does a lot of things better and a lot of things worse than the other, and throwing mods, community addons and payware at both really brings a load of positives to them individually.
It sounds like FSX can still fill the gap that FS2020 leaves for some users, which is awesome! Perhaps I’ll spend some more time flipping between the two.
What’s broken for you?
For me it’s the flight dynamics linked to flaps. They have announced a fix is enroute and have posted a work around.
Not had any other issues myself, clouds are looking great and the UK scenery is fantastic. London is quite taxing on my system though but apart from a few flights to see it, doubt I’ll be returning
I guess you kinda had some sort of misunderstanding on my post. My gripe is not that MSFS2020 is too hard to fly etc. On the contrary, I’d like MSFS2020 to be more difficult to fly, hence more realistic ( in terms of flight physics too).
I’m talking about the fact that with each update the dev team manage to break so many things, many more than they fix or bring with the patch.
In its current shape MSFS2020 appears to be a game than a simulator, most likely as a result of a strategy the developers are keen to follow to attract too many customers. Is this bad ? Maybe as regards the business it’s nothing bad but the outcome becomes rather undesirable for avid simmers.
How about almost all fancy airports infested with the pesky taxiway edge signs ? Some of them really look like an ocean of taxiway edge lights now, such a game killer. No longer feel like flying my once beautiful sim…
How about flying FS2004 with TileProxy setting the Google Maps as the source ? I at least have a wonderfully running AI traffic with tones of airlines around the globe with true models and liveries…
Not something I’ve noticed tbh, is that only an issue with 3rd party airports?
Not only, their handcrafted airports are effected too. Totally screwed up !
Oh ok, must have dodged them so far! Does the aircraft collide with them or is it purely visual?
You may check it out here :
It happens to me that in some airports, the ATC no longer gives directions on the taxiways, even you can no longer select from the ATC menu, it only happens to me?
The ATC of the old FSX was a mess too, we will never get to see a decent one…
With you there.
After a few CTD’s I get up and go outside where my frustration fades away.
It will get better in time, remember we are only five months into a very complicated sim, so time will improve it.
In the meantime, if I can get past the READY TO FLY screen without a CTD (been four days now and I am calling in my son-in-law who is a high level help desk tech to help) I will enjoy the flying again.
Can’t do the real thing anymore due medical, so this is my flying fix.
Point taken, but I can’t remember so much anger thrown at any other release of the old Microsoft Flight Simulators… and that is my point…I believe many here might have used the old sims and are so frustrated by the new release when thinking of how things used to be.
All the other versions were much more finished and polished for their time. Human nature does not change so if the previous incarnations from years ago were below par as many believe the new version to be, then for sure they would have said so then.
The old versions were ground breaking for their time and for sure this Sim is as well, but fancy graphics due to an advance in technology over time just doesn’t excuse dodgy aircraft and updates that fix a few things and break others. No one can deny it looks beautiful compared to it’s distant relations but to many that just isn’t enough and I for one wasn’t expecting it to be so unfinished after years of purchasing and using all the other sims that were…
You make some good points, and that’s important to remember. In all reality, what we have now is far better than what we’ve had out of the box on any platform, ever. It’s just annoying that all the problems we encounter in MSFS are core, fundamental issues that impact flying. Like broken Autopilots or goofy weather that we had to contend with for months.
The way I look at it is that Asobo really did break a lot of ground and what they accomplished was nothing short of spectacular. It’s just the goof ups are so glaring, and to the average user, probably obvious in the sense that we scratch our heads and wonder why they didn’t think about that…
But, here we are. I’m encouraged about the future, but very also painfully-impatient for the present. Especially when we just get things working right and then BAM- broken airports, lighting and flight dynamics again…
Comparing a 1990 mustang with a tesla… makes no sense.
Maybe not a good analogy. I prefer Mustang to a modern tesla. I know many people would also. But definitely MSFS all the way over any other sim out there.
Horrible analogy…clearly not a car guy😒
Clearly you’re not good at understanding an analogy. My point is comparing fsx to fs2020 is not only impossible, but completely pointless. Like comparing an old mustang to a brand new Tesla. You can’t compare, not because Tesla is better or Ford is better - but because they’re completely two different beasts.
Not hard to understand?
You totally can compare those two cars in my opinion. And most people will clearly prefer one over the other. But I get what you mean. You re talking about objective comparison, not just preferences.
