Im done with this sim on XBOX

Try some airliners and fly as close to the real thing as possible, and you will encounter lots and lots of issues. From really bad performance and CTDs to avionics and autopilot not working or at least not as they supposed to.

I’m having a real hard time enjoying this Sim lately, especially when I see no improvements in SU10 Beta. In fact, quite the opposite

Sure, I see improvement in weather and clouds etc, but performance wise it’s getting worse and worse.

I always flying small planes, like the savage cub or the 152, im not an airliner guy

I only have the 320 in the standard Edition.

That explains a lot. But I’m happy for you that you can still enjoy this Sim:+1::slightly_smiling_face:

In fairness I fly the Boeing 747, the A320 on multi hour flights using instruments, ATC, autopilot, flying SIDS and STARS and ILS approaches…

Honestly I haven’t had a CTD since the beta, my performance has not been dipping and I’ve never experienced the black avionics bug. This must be down to 3rd party airports requiring too much RAM or something. Don’t get me wrong I used to get CTDS quite a bit and my performance used to be a bit dodgy - but I really can’t complain on the beta this far.
My only bugs I seem to suffer (which I’m not sure are user error) is that autopilot tends not to be able to be turned on or off using a keybind, and when turning the altitude dial on the autopilot panel it always jumps to 99900 feet requiring about 2 minutes each time to scroll down to something sensible!

I also run the static traffic add-on, and fly with a V1 yoke, a mouse, a Thrustmaster HOTAS w/ rudder pedals and an XBOX controller.

I also never quick resume the title.

No, it doesn’t matter if I depart from stock airports or 3rd party ones. One day I must try 3 times in order to get started from cold&dark, the other day no problem. In the 787, lots of lag and stutters in cockpit view, and also black screens after a period of time.

Indeed, A320 and 747 have less issues.

Yes, still running SU10 after reinstall. I guess I could have opted out of beta before reinstall but wanted to see how it was again. So far no CTD in the last few days, will do some longer stints later in week. I turn multiplayer off but leave traffic/weather etc on.

Well for the first time in I don’t know how long I had an uber graphics glitch today. I spawned at a Quebec airport and centre island airport in TO two separate times and the scenery went all to hell and the next thing I know is my plane is upside down on the runway looking at the pavement. Like what the…? I’m not in SU10 beta, no 3rd party stuff at all just the base Premium Deluxe. I was even in “ offline” mode… and all traffic nonexistent. All I can say is “wow” ! :open_mouth: Talk about a ghost in the machine lol. :joy:

This is a long thread so unsure if it’s already been brought up. I was having very poor performance and CTD until I disabled the rolling cache. I have 1gb internet so not sure if cache is needed. Anyway, after disabling the rolling cache and rebooting everything I have had zero performance or CTD. I disabled this about 40 gameplay hours ago.

Not even sure what the cache is supposed to accomplish.

All true, and very well said.

I think it may have to do with paid third party add-ons. I don’t have any installed apart from the Mig-29 and F-16. No scenery or world add-ons apart from the free updates. Game already looks brilliant as it is and I’m not even on a 4k HDR screen .

The rolling cache stores the scenery files that you fly over.
If you fly the same areas, and have the cache on, the sim will not stream the info from the net, it will use those cached files, resulting in less internet capacity being used, and thus in some cases a smoother sim experience.

Yes, but i think it needs stressing that if you generally fly a new route each time, the cache does absolutely nothing

Agreed, also in my opinion, if you have no problems with internet there is really no need.
Mine is turned off, even though I do fly a particular route quite often!

I was on another thread a few days ago and @FlyingsCool5650 (forgive me for copy/pasting your comment here) had brought up an interesting possible cause of CTDs with 3rd party sceneries/airports that I haven’t seen mentioned anywhere before, but I’ll leave it here.

"Sadly, 3rd party airports are a CTD nightmare because a bunch of developers have no concept of the Virtual File system, and don’t bother to change the paths to files with the same names, and therefore CTD.

For whatever reason, the people ingesting the packages don’t bother to look for modellib.bgl and many other files and make sure they either have unique names or a unique path.

The problem could be fixed in many ways. But nobody is addressing this MAJOR problem, and there’s nothing users can do to fix the problem on Xbox since they can’t modify files. I have to fix nearly 30% of the scenery packages I download to make sure all files have unique names or paths, and this is true for both freeware and payware packages.

Asobo has to make some tighter rules, because these packages will work when they are the only community package, the issue only arises when multiple packages with the non-unique filenames and paths are loaded at the same time. "

It is very sad to read that someone like JobAutoDrop who obviously was enjoying the Sim a lot has had to reach this conclusion.
There does seem to be a policy in Microsoft that dictates a ‘one solution fits all’ attitude.
Many simmers of long standing and much knowledge of these things have often commented that this isnt an achievable policy and one that will sacrifice quality and improvements either way. A PC isnt an XBox and vice versa.
It hasnt really worked for the Windows operating system and it doesnt seem to work for the Sim.
I guess it is a policy set on high and isnt something we can blame the MSFS team for.
but I do wish that the penny would drop in Microsoft that complicated software like MSFS has to be carefully tailored to each platform.
One size fits all simply hasnt ever worked in any IT environment and wont work in MSFS.
To continue with this Holy Grail policy is to continually make sacrifices as to the quality on either plarform.

crazymaherm, there is no reason why there should not be a Sim for Xbox but it needs to be one specifically tailored to that platform.

Best flight ever had today on xbox s after 6 months due to whatever was updated today by MS. Progress???..

There was an update today..?

SU10 BETA update apparently and i have never had such a good flight. ATC was spot on too.

Agreed. If the Xbox performance improvements from the latest beta build carry over to the release build, and they can fix the HDR issues, I suspect - or hope! - that this thread will take a much more positive direction.
