In Game Tutorials or Other?

I have downloaded MSFS 2024 finally and have messed around a bit plus set my stick bindings.

Now its time to really learn. Are the in game tutorials sufficent is there a better resource?

Thanks in advance!

I found the (FS2020) ingame tutorials quite good for a start at the time. Depending on your knowledge you already have.
Afterwards just go to YouTube, there are many good content creators around for aviation knowledge and also in depth tutorials for many of the aircraft

Take it step by step. Fly a small aircraft until you can do a few circuits with touch and go before starting on a more complex aircraft. Going too fast will be frustrating and will rob you of a fantastic experience.

For me, the circuit is the benchmark. I know I can fly the aircraft if I can do ten circuits without problems. It is surprising how few simmers can actually do that reliably. Many are just system operators and slaves of the magenta line. Your first landing with some crosswind in a tiny aircraft is a benchmark you should not miss.

You learn to fly, and then you learn to operate an aircraft. Never the other way around. And you can’t learn to fly in a A320. You can in a SuperCub.

Hi @WhteSox725
There are many user-created tutorials that might help you, here: Community Tutorials

This is precisely what I’ve been doing so far. Any that I haven’t done well on, I would retry a couple times to see if I can improve my score.

There is a quite nice series by Forder learn to fly, where Jayne learns to fly in msfs2020. You can find that series here on this forum.

so I draw conclusions that Microsoft/Asobo are selling complex product without any manual, User Guide, etc. at all?

Indeed. YouTube is your friend here. There are quite some tubers who have posted ‘MSFS for Dummies’ video’s.

And what about MSFS from insiders - real experts, not from youtubert laymen

What exactly is your point? You make two assumptions in your post. Both are debatable.

MSFS is an incredibly vast space where we can explore many aspects of flying. That’s clear. Documenting all that’s possible would require an encyclopedia. Simming has always been a matter of starting somewhere, digging in, finding out yourself, and building from there.

So I would rather turn your question around. What aspect of MSFS do you have a question about?

about everything that’s not published by the trusted MSFS developers, and that’s not referenced in the product itself, of course.
you do not remember printed guides for FS98 or FSX, for sure.

I realize you posted this a while ago, but this thread just popped up into my feed. I just want to say that I really appreciate this response. You are one of the largest and most well-known developers of airliners in the community, and yet you’re encouraging someone to start out where they need to start, rather than jumping right into the area where you would benefit financially. This shows integrity; thank you.

That’s perfectly right, but you just forget to mention the first step, learn to use the Flight Simulator. I’ve been using FS from the late 80’s and yet it’s necesery to learn every new version. And I’m tired to learn by mistakes in place of reading missing User Guide

There is none in the sim itself. There was some sort of guide in the MP of 2020, but this did not get very good reviews.
Questions about ‘everything’ are always hard to answer.
So therefore I see your post more like a generic protest against the omission of documentation in the sim itself than a concrete question for help on a specific issue.
If it’s about initial set up, and peripherals, there’s plenty info on this forum or on youtube. If it’s about a certain plane, same thing.
There’s nome in the sim itself. If that does not meet your requirements, then I would hold back on buying it, because you’ll certainly run into many things that could potentially be frustrating. Most MSFS-simmers have learned by doing, mistaking, and then look for aid.

Good luck :+1:

correct, thanks

I’d be happy to just have a list of all of the available commands with a brief explanation of what they actually do. Some of them are not very intuitive.
