IRIS Simulations Pilatus PC-21 Release Build

I don’t think turning on auto rudder for all aircraft is an acceptable solution - the product should provide a work-around.

I cannot get this update - it is not on Orbx or the main site.

I downloaded ist from my Account on the official IRIS Website…so it is there :person_shrugging:t2:

This advice was a workaround back then. Although its better now, its still far from simulating jet behaviour in regard to rudder input in flight. I had a look at the flight-model.cfg, and it does not use any of the newer parameters, nor does it use cfm. Very much old legacy code. So there is room. I still like it very much. I hope there will be native (html) huds for NAV, AA and AG at some point. No need for tactical simulation though. Just for the fun of it.

I bought it from Orbx. I don’t have an IRIS account, Can you provide a link to the update?

Like @flexxair, I bought directly from IRIS Simulations, so I don’t think either of us can help you.

There is advice above for Orbx customers - basically, if you bought from Orbx you’d better hope you still have 2020 installed:

I’m sure IRIS Simulations are doing their best, but it’s important to note that this is not intended to be a study-level aircraft, nor is it priced as such.

For myself, I don’t have the level of sophistication that you clearly have in judging flight models. I might wish I did, but I don’t.

For my purposes, using the PC-21 with its decent turn of speed and unobstructed canopy to explore our ‘digital twin’ in VR, the removal of the need for rudder assist means the flight model is now adequate to my needs, and with the addition of the GTN 750, which is currently being fixed for the next update, I’m really pretty pleased with what I’ve got.

Whether I’d feel the same if I’d bought it as a simulation of an aerobatic turboprop trainer I don’t know, since I didn’t.

I have 2020 and 2024 installed but see no way of accessing the update as Orbx does not now appear to support this product.

I will be reluctant to buy another Iris or Orbx product if they have no interest in supporting customers.

This isn’t IRIS fault. This version is an update to the 2020 version that works in 2024. Go talk to orbx and complain to them.

i bought the plane from orbx as well. it’s currently a matter of waiting for them to release the update on their platform and then you should be able to install it from their app, into msfs 2020. they are still selling the plane, so it’s just a matter of waiting on them to push the update to their customers. i have bought a bunch of planes from them and they tend to be on the slower side of releasing updates from their partners…

What is wrong with Iris providing the update to customers with a receipt of purchase?

You bought from them directly? Then go to their site and download it. If you bought from Orbx then it’s with Orbx that you need to deal with, as you know…

Edit: I still see the PC-21 in the Orbx store(for msfs2020) so I don’t know why you think it doesn’t support it…

Orbx has the old version (1.3) hence my comment.

Reach out to IRIS and ask them when the new version will be available on orbx.
I’m sure you’ll get an answer…

Edit: I think they’ll update to 1.5.1, maybe that’s why they haven’t sent the files to orbx?

Thank@you. Tried their support but could not find an email.

There’s an option on the main page that says Contact…

Thank you.

Orbx made available the update.

I have the aircraft working in both 2020 and 2024.

My observations and opinion:

a. External model is superb
b. Flight model is average (poor stall characteristics and it constantly twitches - might be an FS issue)
c. Much better avionics
d. Internal cockpit has average to poor depiction which to me, looks like FSX.
e. HUD is a bit fuzzy.

Overall. much better than the original but more work needed.

I would pay for a better update but I do appreciate that IRIS have updated this quite old product.

It’s insane to me how the HUD is still so bad after all this time. This was a launch issue for the aircraft and their “solution” to switch to a much worse antialiasing is absurd.

You can change HUD in the INST page. Maybe you’re using the FSX version…

Thanks - I will check this.

Am I the only one having the HUD tinted magenta-ish, regardless of the livery?
