King Air C90 by BT Studio

I’m guessing you’re not an iPhone user!

This is precisely why it’s abhorrent for there not to be some sort of quality control in the marketplace. From the very first plane released back last year with non-functional flaps, it has been clear that Microsoft does not care. I have stayed far away from this mess of a marketplace. With just a LITTLE quality control, the marketplace could be amazing. What a sad state.

Well, at least the PC users have the CHOICE to purchase from different Market Places.

The X-BOX users, not so lucky .. as many will find out, to their frustration.

@BostonJeremy77, out of curiosity, are you using version 1.18.3 (beta) or 1.17.3 (last world update)? Am also seeing lots of issues on my end (regardless of the verison).

With some digging, I discovered some interesting information. BT Studio is also known as Big Tire Productions, and they used to be interactive on the X-Plane forums. I made the connection because they announced on those forums back in August that the Kitfox was a cross platform purchase, and if you purchase it on X-Plane, you’d get it free on MSFS and vice versa. They haven’t logged onto those forums since September, and don’t seem to interact with any community anymore.

Something they said on August 5, 2020 on the X-Plane forum still rings true today: “I will admit that I’ve not always made the best prioritization in terms of updates”

So, it looks bad and doesn’t fly? OMG, payware quality goes down and down. VirtualCol E170 and now this. What’s next?

That’s what this and other posts are for. You say to wait for reviews, but where do you think we get reviews? It’s from people who buy it “sight unseen”. This thread has 2 reviews in it, and this discussion is doing its job in making people aware.

And a big thanks to those who do buy “sight unseen” and then give us all a fair review.

But not everyone is in a position to do this, or as I said
Do not want to risk blowing their money (and time), on a DUD MS_Store addon

The point being, just because it’s on the MS-STORE, does not mean its any good !!!

Im gonna slap some wings on a 3-d tu rd emoji. No cockpit, copy the engines from 747 ( make them invisible ) , add the flight model from a static scenery asset. Claim it "pushes the limits of functionality allowed by the SDK(not a study-level winged tu rd) " and sell it somewhere wheres theres no reviews & no refunds or quality oversight…the Marketplace seems ideal. Asking price? $49.95 (worth of non-refundable credits, of course)

Anyone wanna invest in my dev studio, " blatant cash grab simulations"?

I know im good for at least one sale: @BostonJeremy77 buys one of everything

I am still downloading the beta, so I was on 1.17.3 when I bought this.

BUYER BEWARE !

I bought the Kitfox from this developer, it is a scam. The Developer doesn’t not know in the slightest how to make planes for MSFS, besides the hull.

he released a completely broken Kitfox plane that almost a year later has not been fixed because he doesn’t lnow how to do that.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS DEVELOPER; he is a fraud !

P.S.:
sorry for replying to you Jeremy, it was unintentional. Wanted to just post a reply in genaral in this thread.

Microsoft and Asobo should be embarrassed and ashamed by this.

Looks like the in game store is a complete scam, and both Microsoft and Asobo should be held responsible as they are profiting off the scam.

Yeah, that’s my first reaction. The Kitfox was a rip-off - it could have been fixed, but BT Studios did not bother with such patches. They just ran away with my money, laughing, I’m sure.

The KingAir c90 in the Marketplace looks REALLY attractive, and I’d love to have a better 3rd party Kingair than the default 350i. But then I saw the name “BT Studios”…

NOPE!

Hi all, just a few things,

We are not affiliated with this developer and we were only told in our public discord channel from them that they were working on this plane. At no time did the developer reach out to us to work with us to adapt the WT CJ4 code.

However, the WT CJ4 code is all MIT licensed, meaning that anyone, commercial or non-commercial is free to use the code as they like. There is no requirement to get licensing from us or any EULA. That being said, we would hope that developers would act a bit more equitably and contribute back if they make worthwhile changes. One of the current big problems hounding the open source community is the lack of contributions back by commercial users.

It does appear from the reports that the developer did not move the files required to different locations to avoid the compatibility issue that would very obviously arrive from having two differing implementations of the same codebase in the same location in the VFS.

Working Title would obviously much prefer to be associated with working and compatible products, but we also cannot prohibit folks from doing what they want with our code. Nonetheless this seems a scenario in which has left users with a very understandable bad taste.

Just a thought… What if the aircraft as supplied to the store does work? What if the encryption added by MS screwed it up? We have seen other products where the encryption broke something (Islander)… that would be an interesting twist. But, if it is only available from the store, we might never know. Would the developer care to comment?

The thing is.

You can buy 3D Models of planes for cheap on sites like Turbosquid.
Which is totally fine, the coding work comes after that !

But some devs don’t seem to know enough about that part to make a good product. Which is kinda sad, especially when Microsoft sells those on the ingame store.

what’s wrong with buying stock models? do you understand the concept of stock photography? why would anyone recreate from scratch what already exists.

It sounds like, from Matt’s description above, a few directories need to be renamed (and layout.json updated) and it will likely start working.

Not that I support ■■■■■■ developers who don’t know enough to create unique paths in a virtual file system, but, has anyone who owns it tried using it with nothing else in their community directory loaded?

I don’t have any intention of purchasing it, otherwise I’d look through the directory structure and normalize it, which seems to be at least one of the problems. Sounds like there are more, though.

Edit: And, in thinking about it… Unless every developer registered their files for every single mod out there, I don’t know that there’s a whole lot Microsoft/Asobo can do to ferret out clashing virtual files in mods. But, it seems to me, Asobo could create a tool users could use to go through their community folders to at least find conflicts, and, I imagine with some clever programming, find ways to make that tool fix most conflicts.

I think the mod-linker already does that to one degree or another?

What about the sentence ‘Which is totally fine’ is indicating that I think something is wrong with buying stock models ?

I made some good money years back selling stock music, I think it’s cool.

BUT: it’s not what makes a good MSFS plane to buy a stock model, if you cannot do the rest properly.

Thanks for pointing out Matt’s post Tom. Seems he was writing at the same time as I was!

I can try to fire it up tomorrow with an empty Community folder and see if it works then… Right now my system is bogged down downloading the beta. Not sure running two instances of MSFS can even happen.
