Lack of Communication from Microsoft and Asobo

Yes, that’s why I quoted them and not you.

I imagine nothing else than Asobo working on it. This whole post is about the opaque nature of said work.

Your opinion is your own. However, it is not mine.

Opened Fs2024 today and for the first time since launch actually successfully entered career mode.
I also tried a free flight and first 3 training activities.
Its now 5pm GMT in the UK and for the past hour I have again been unable to open traing activities so cant progress in career and cant get in to free flight. I hope this server backlog is sorted soon.
My concern is that demand from simmers will always outweigh the server capacity.
Is it not possible to download world map regions on to ssd for areas frequently used by individuals who have capacity and ease server demand long term?

I agree with you entirely. I`m having exactly the same experience as you. All the bugs we are encountering once in the sim which is a rare occurrence are not server related but a lack of attention towards polishing the function of the sim BEFORE release not after. I have better things to do than be your unpaid beta tester for glaring faults that you at Asobo obviously knew were there.

I personally think it’s important to separate Asobo (who I believe genuinely care about us) and Microsoft (who are a largely faceless corporation interested in maximum revenue generation).

I don’t really understand what benefit we would gain from constant updates, many of which would just repeat what was said previously. When it’s fixed, or close to fixed, I expect we’ll hear something. I’d rather they concentrate on resolutions, instead of keeping an inpatient community constantly updated when there’s actually little to say.

I’m not defending the disastrous launch but what’s done is done. In spite of the hiccups, FS2024 will soon usurp MSFS as the best flight sim the world has ever seen. We need to give the team time and space, otherwise we could actually be the engineers of the franchise’s premature demise. I’d rather have a broken sim for a few weeks than MS pull the plug completely on the project. The vitriol really isn’t helping.

Nope, I’d find something else to do, knowing the communication that’s already been given. What they said and the evidence in front of me tells me all I need to know. I’m sure they’ll tell me what happened when it’s fixed and they’re ready to communicate. A $60 game doesn’t mean that much to me to make me angry. I can easily spend that much on one meal for my tummy.

There is no vitriol. Such responses would be removed by the moderation team

True. People are extremely disappointed and feel let down. They just want to vent and this is the best place to do that. So long as there are no direct personal attacks. To be honest, I think the mods here have been very lenient with us all. So far.

At the moment, it’s pointless to blindly attack MS and Asobo with unconstructive accusations. The problems are evident to everyone, including them. Clearly, something went wrong, but that’s old news; things don’t always go as planned. Now they’re overwhelmed by bug reports and low performance issues from users. Demanding updates every 2-3 hours is absurd.
STAY CALM, we will not die if we have to wait some days more, let a few days pass while they try to gather all the reports, find the root cause, and fix it. Problems of this size and complexity can’t be solved in a day, and asking them to report progress every 2-3 hours is unrealistic, as they wouldn’t have substantial updates to provide with such a short frequency.

I think UK and some European users should at least have some confirmation that there is an issue in that region with streaming…

Were completely in the dark 48 hours later with the streaming issues in the UK and I’ve not seen any updates regarding this, the Xbox Status in the UK shows there is an issue so thats all we have to go on.

But I’ve seen no acknowledgement officially of an issue in this region. Other regions have been able to load up a flight at least, the UK folks aren’t even able to load into the sim.

I’m usually an avid defender of Asobo/Microsoft but they could at least let us know in this region there is an issue and its being looked at.

It worries me that the issues in the UK aren’t being looked at or solved and this is just what we will have to expect from now on

I hope I am wrong however…

I’m not even angry there is issues, I’m just angry we seem like were being ignored :sob: I’d feel better if someone would just say “Yep there is an issue with Streaming in Europe right now, we are aware and will fix it”.

Yes, that would be something. At least then we’d know that it was known (which I am sure it is).

please help me the game still doesn’t want to start, it crashes when it’s loading from the beginning where we see the video at 89%! I reinstalled it, Windows is uptdate. It doesn’t work

Hello @JakTrax78,

I can’t speak on behalf of the folks at Microsoft who are way, way, WAY above my position on the org chart, but I can state unequivocally that all the employees working directly on the Microsoft Flight Simulator team, up to and including Jorg himself, care very, very deeply about this project and everyone in the flight sim community. Many of us are long-time simmers (and IRL pilots) ourselves who chose to apply for jobs on this team because aviation and flight simming is something we’re really passionate about. There’s nothing more motivating and rewarding to us than reading delighted reactions and positive feedback from you, the sim community. Nobody wanted a launch that was marred by technical issues. We’re working round the clock to get the current problems resolved so everyone can enjoy Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 in the way we always intended.

Thanks,
MSFS Team

Numerous calls for Jorg to resign aren’t exactly what I’d call flattering. We might not have even had a sim without him. I reckon he feels badly enough about this already without baseless calls for his employment to be terminated.

We’ve likely no idea exactly what’s gone on. And attacking the team won’t help.

But do you really think they could ignore the 50% of their users, and the fact those users are on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, where there could be the additional problem of lag or major streaming issues?
Asobo is in France, by the way…
So don’t worry, stay calm

Just logged in to glance at another thread, and here are the most recent posts. It is clear that people want information and are feeling ignored. I simply don’t accept that either there are no updates (which would imply that nobody has been doing anything, whereas we’re told people are working around the clock) or that writing an update will take too much time (5 minutes from one person). There is simply no excuse for this poor communication and it is making an abysmal launch that much worse.

Asobo needed more time. SDK team was saying they need more time, 3rd parties were saying they need more time, 2nd parties were saying they need more time. Aerosoft were saying they need more time for collectors edition. The community was shouting “It’s not ready”. Everyone was saying the same thing, but somehow it was ignored and the launch went ahead on the original date when nobody was ready for it.

And I think every one of us here would have done the same (i.e. released on time) if Microsoft were breathing down our necks. The Asobo team would have known about its release state but I doubt it was their call.

Personally, I care far more about how the product matures over time than how it is at launch.

I most certainly would not have. I would have told Microsoft that this was going to be the complete disaster that is and that they would be much better off delayed by a few months. It’s not as if delayed launches haven’t happened for plenty of other AAA titles. Software development doesn’t always go to plan and developers are notoriously poor at project management. Delays are understandable. Launching a product that you know is not ready is not.

Im pretty sure they can tell how many users there are just by sales and game pass subs. They werent and arent in the dark on this.
