Microprose B-17

Yes, and in multiplayer with a share cockpit.

We can imagine other players with P51 in escort.

NATO was created and exists to this day because of Halford MacKinder’s theory.

According to Cockspur’s discord channel, Seb, the company owner, is now “lead developer” at Microprose. It’s unclear if he is in this role just for this project, or all/multiple Microprose’s portfolio.

Seb joined us as the lead developer for all our MicroProse MSFS line of products.

What kind of systems depth/failures will it have?

I agree. Teasing is fun, but only to a point.

Less talk, more rock! When can we expect to see this thing in shops?

We don’t have an ETA. When we are happy with a first version, we will release it. The team’s working as quickly as possible.

Edit: it seems I misunderstood a message sent to me and I thought I couldn’t talk about the product here. I can.

Could one thing still be answered ? Will the addon also release on the MSFS2020 Xbox marketplace?

That’s the plan.

Awesome  hopefully the project will move along nicely

It is. There’s still a lot of work to do but it’s moving along great with Sebastian on the helm of development. She’s shaping up nicely and we already have an internal testing team helping.

This is not to say that we are almost releasing her. It’s in pre-alpha stage but having feedback from the start, from people we trust, is important.

Oh, I almost forgot! We have a blog post about VE and we’re featuring the B-17 for MSFS. Check it out here: Victory in Europe: Remembering the Mighty Eighth and the Iconic B-17 | MicroProse

She’ll have realistic systems (as much as possible considering some things like navigation that was used at the time is not possible to have in MSFS).

We’ll also have a deeper maintenance/failure system. We’re not ready to provide details on that just yet, though.

From the blog post:

We strive to create realistic renditions of these iconic aircraft, effectively turning them into virtual museum pieces within Microsoft Flight Simulator, preserving their legacy for aviation enthusiasts and history buffs alike.

Pretty much like the 1st party Famous Flyers and Local Legends then, but with more system depth? I like that route and I’m amazed by the progress photos.

We’re planning on adding some info around the Berlin Airlift at the Collings Foundation museum in Stow, MA, possibly the nose of a DC-4 or something to look in and other memorabilia in the hallway to the post-war portion of the new wing we’re planning for the museum.

I am on the other side of the fence, I love previews of upcoming products, and not really concerned about release dates. I have enough to do in the mean time, but, I am extremely avidly awaiting the product! Thanks for all the info and news!

this is outstanding news. REAL historically accurate information is becoming harder to find, and therefore much more valuable to society than at any time before.
