MilViz PC-6 Pilatus Porter Released

Perhaps the developers should consider summat like this:

https://one.aerosoft.com/

Kinda like ORBX Central but for Aerosoft in this case. Milviz could easily use either!

This …

  • If you know you want the Milviz one this current stage 1 offer is a bargain.
  • If you are on the fence then wait and compare and pay the extra if you do go Milviz.

They would presumably need to give up some of the proceeds to OrbX for the privilege. I am all for paying the developers directly so they get everything, where possible.

Wasn’t there someone else making the same plane? I’d rather wait for that one. Should be better than this. Doesn’t even support g1000.
I’m gonna skip this due to DRM. Besides the price is way too high for milviz product. Maybe will consider it on sale if it gets on orbx so i wouldn’t need to deal with that DRM. In the meantime there are plenty of other addons to choose from.

Are the *****.cfg files due to DRM editable ?

How do others developers do to protect their creations without implanting a DRM ?
And more without the need to deactivate antivirus during install ?
This is a complete nonsense. Why having an AV if you have to deactivate it at the moment it is the most necessary.

Is there any word on how long ‘stage 1’ will last? it’s very off putting that this is advertised as not being a beta but it’s releasing in two stages? at least be honest about it, if it’s not a beta why not wait and release the finished product altogether?

It’s very concerning that it needs constant DRM access, I’d understand one that you open once on install and that’s it but the way DRM is handled here is unacceptable for me.

That plus no NXi compatibility and you want me to pay extra later for skipping out on your ‘non beta’ beta period the issues here far outweigh how much I want a PC-6. You should’ve handled this better.

Quite surprised about the “stages” malcontent.

Get to fly an aircraft earlier and ultimately pay less for the whole package when it releases. Such a terrible thing. Should be illegal

They don’t. And they suffer from piracy due to that.

I cant believe all of third party developers of sceneries and/or planes since years have not protected their creations.

Well, whether you can or cannot believe it, that’s how it is. The only protection some use is an installation key, and it’s incredibly flimsy. Anyone can bypass it. Some don’t use even that.

There are other devs that used a similar method to this, and I imagine their number will increase unless Microsoft does something to combat piracy at a simulator level.

I was excited about this but I am no fan of DRM or the in-game marketplace (which has been all spinning wheels for me for two weeks now)

It’s a shame enough developers can’t agree on some sort of mutual DRM program that they can add their products to.

There may reach a point where you have 20-30 desktop shortcuts for each one, and that’s before scenery developers get involved.

Obviously there’s the marketplace and obviously I’d vastly prefer not to use it.

The real solution would be Microsoft to include native DRM for all products not just the marketplace.

This is what I would be most interested in, being able to edit the aircraft as I see fit, which the Marketplace purchases do not allow for.

And for the add-on devs to pressure them towards that and not having us bear the brunt with some homemade single plane solution.

I wish we could have that, I’m fine with DRM but not excessive DRM, it should be you enter the product key once and that’s it for good at least.

DRM is supposed to provide security but when it’s excessive it does the opposite and makes more people want to pirate it out of frustration when they would willingly pay.

You really think they’re not?

I can really see the result though. The PC-6 comes with its standalone DRM that I am expected to run. So it does not matter if the devs are trying or not. I have a piece of potentially malicious or datamining software to content with.

If you don’t trust a developer, don’t buy their product. That’s your choice. But until Microsoft does something, it’s the developers’ absolute right to protect themselves and their work from theft.

I’m amazed people think criticizing it is even remotely ok.

For most of the last 10 years in P3D and XPlane users have regarded devs as more like acquaintances and would even purchase aircraft they did not really need to “support the dev” . It was a relatively small community and users would even get to have personal email/forum conversations with devs over issues they were having.

With MSFS this has all changed, personal conversations with the devs are mainly a thing of the past and the new MSFS player base is much more entitled and demanding and often regards the devs as exploitive con men that they need to put in their place.

Part and parcel with this change is much more piracy.
