The easiest way to solve this problem is to install the beta! I did. It’s super easy and if there is anything about it anyone doesn’t like it’s easy to go back.
Then someone from Microsobo should have announced it here in this thread as soon as it was known to be included as a fix. We had no information it was even being worked on until a Member Of The Public who was participating in the beta told us.
When you have a thread about a problem with nearly 1000 posts in it, it’s only common courtesy for someone in the know to come in and say “hey, don’t worry, this is due to be fixed in SU16”. Instead, we found out by accident.
This thread has the bug-logged tag, which means it has been entered into our internal tracking system and validated as an actual bug for resolution. Additionally, My colleague @Jummivana and I have both previously posted in this thread to indicate that this issue has been acknowledged and escalated to the dev team:
I’m unsure why it wasn’t listed in the SU16 beta build 1.39.0.0 release notes as being fixed in this patch since it appears to be resolved in the beta according to multiple posters in this thread, but I can follow up with the Production Team on Monday to confirm if this fix will be documented in the release notes of future beta builds.
Hi, is there a chance you could propose to the Dev team to backport it to the main production train so that people wouldn’t have to join the Beta in order to receive this important fix?
It may take months for SU 16 to be released officially.
Surely the workaround cannot be to use SU16 beta. In all my 5 years of MSFS2020 I haven’t used a beta version not even once for obvious reasons. They either need to prioritize SU16 release or create a hotfix.
Don’t know if anyone has noticed. The problem isn’t that it won’t shutdown. At least not according to my system. The Taskbar icon is stuck on the ‘are you sure–’ message. The full screen message cannot be accessed to press ‘yes’.
Yup, installing the beta is no big deal. I think of it as a hotfix for this issue since the release notes are not that extensive. And it’s easy to go back.
I know what it’s about…lol. I am simply suggesting to install the beta rather than waiting for a non beta fix that may never come, or waiting for SU16 to go final.
I understand that installing the beta may seem easy and like a quick fix, but there have been cases where switching between the beta and regular versions caused MSFS 2020 to uninstall or become corrupted. Because of this, the beta version is not and won’t be a reliable solution for the problem at this time.
Also, we have long been warned about potential problems when joining or leaving the beta version, including the SU16 beta.
So, to repeat, the beta version is not an easy solution.
Yes. What happens in my case. After clicking Yes, the screen drops to the Task bar with the Yes request still showing. It won’t let me access that screen again. No worry. My life’s too short to worry about it. It’s just another computer quirk to me. I simply do what I’ve done with recalcitrant programs over the years. Task Manager and kill them at the source.
