• In MSFS2020, Helipad starts were cold, runway starts were engine running.
With all assistance off, Helipad starts in MSFS2024 always are engine running.
Also tried shutdown after helipad landing, (clutch disengages, rotor stops, the rpms get to 0, master switch off but engine sound never quits), exiting sim, then reentering sim to fly same helicopter from same helipad and found engine already running.

• The flight planner is missing options on the state of the aircraft upon loading into the sim, which is instead decided by the spawn location, often unfittingly.

Addressing this would bring a big benefit not only for helicopters, but all aircraft in Free Flight mode.
It could by little , lasting basic enhancement of the simulators abilities, enabling a more immersive experience when it is needed. Does the player want to simulate a relaxed Sunday starting with a walk around and the dust covers on, or a time-critical emergency, starting ready for takeoff? The quick self-made scenario in the free flight sandbox probably constitutes a substantial part in user time spent, especially with newer players searching for additional gameplay loops in vanilla MSFS.

Besides that, as of right now, the fuel loading is hidden behind 3 clicks covering 2 full screen transitions and vram loading times, while cargo/passenger loading options remain separate in the EFB behind a slider offering two layers of dual choice menus. The result of such parallel settings menus are bugs and empty errors like “the loading of the aircraft has failed”, i.e. even more work and player frustration. Topping the menu spaghetti with confusion, the fuel/load planning pages of the EFB’s flight planner offer “payload options” and don’t declare their pure planning purpose, not affecting actual loading (…and if used, you need to copy values between menus by hand).

So, well-known on this forum, the menus and UI anyway definitely need condensing to a better design, why not, time-effectively, significantly enhance the sims possibilities by a centralised aircraft state menu. The states of cold & dark, ready for takeoff and in-flight already exist anyway, and the more of optional finer configuration forwarded to the players, the more diverse the simulation can be, the better.

Hello Community members

I have exactly the same issue. Does someone know, if it should now be possible in some way to have a cold & dark start on helipads ? Maybe someone found a trick ? I have the latest update of Flight Simulator 2024.
Thanks a lot & best regards
