Trying to login on MSFS 2020.
I’m having the issue of being stuck on “checking for updates” as well. I’m in the Pacific Northwest of the US usually on the west server. 1GB connection confirmed working just fine.
I have not installed 2024. Purposely waiting for the dust to settle.

Asobo, what do you want? Please be clear, do you want all of us upgrade to msfs 2024? Just say it.
This is our hobby. We are using this sim to enjoy, not for pain just to start this f..king software up.
XBOX ONLY. As someone else mentioned if you are on XBOX and stuck on updating then push Xbox logo on controller/ joystick and click on msfs 2020 again as if you are just starting ,it is slow to finally load and then pauses ,but I then needed to push Xbox logo again to get into map and I’m in !
After a long wait, load!
I found a workaround!!!
- Launch sim
- When the Checking for Updates screen appears, disconnect from the internet
- Get the disconnected warning and a screen with a null bytes update - click Continue.
- Reconnect to internet once the generic loading screen appears.
Count me in.
2020 worked fine this morning in Scotland.
Tried to load around 5:15 pm local time - stuck on checking for updates.
Rebooted the computer and started again. A couple of minutes checking for updates and told an update is available requiring 0B of the 1TB I have available.
Pressed continue, nothing got downloaded and I got to the world screen only to be told I didn’t have enough bandwidth.
This does happen very occasionally so I tried to start a flight and FS2020 had a ctd. That almost never happens.
Not good.

If this is allegedly being done on purpose and I say allegedly then that would be a disgrace …like I said not saying this is the case but…

comeover to the UK its lovely and …well actually the weather was very stormy and yes its been raining a lot , still…!!!
no, i am not connecting over VPN.
Here its raining too … still 
seams to work again now…
They should catch this error in the code, so that the MSFS is starting, even the update Server is offline or not reachable…
