New Plane announcement - Junkers Ju 52

It is definitely a payware. All new Asobo planes are payware, TopRudder, upcoming Husky and Ju52.

How much is it going to cost?

unknown so far.

The Junkers is a fascinating prospect, but I am still at a loss and see all sorts of fun with engine management for those with external throttles. 3 engines equals nine axes and even the Honeycomb and TQ6 mob are going to be three levers short, so to speak.

I think the 52 is a brave choice and wish it every success, but I am perplexed as to why they didn’t take the easy route out of this and choose to develop a twin, or specifically, the DC 3. Thinking about it more, the PMDG jockeys will also have a similar problem, I suppose.

I have all 4 of the throttles for the DC-6 bound to a single throttle axis. No issues at all.

German BMW 132 was a derivative license built of the P&W R-1690 Hornet. (725 HP). Export models were built with 447 kW (600 hp) P&W R-1340 Wasp and 578 kW (775 hp) Bristol Pegasus VI engines.
French (Junkers controlled) production Ju52 known as Amiot AAC 1 Toucan used the BMW engines built by SNECMA.
Last Ju 52 built, the Spanish CASA 352L used the ENMASA Beta (750 HP) also a derivative of the BMW, were retired in 1974.

And with 2 axis it is also nice to control on the throttles.

Nice. This video makes me want it!

You should try a little program called RasndFailures2020, which gives a multitude of random failures, so not to sure what one would do if one engine fails and you have to cut mixture, feather a prop etc with only one throttle setup. I’m sure there’s a way.

no need for any external tools for failures with the PMDG DC-6

If you mistreat an engine, that engine will die.

Solution for a single axis throttle quadrant; do your shut down procedure with the mouse, and once the prop is feathered, the engine shut down, fuel cut off (which you can all do in the DC-6), it doesn’t matter anymore if you move the throttle later

Would I like a full 4axis throttle quadrant? sure, I just don’t have the room to place it

RWY 10, quite untypical for VFR in LSZR
Looking forward to that combo as well!

Has there been any more information released on the Ju-52 or it is still just what was announced during the developer Q&A?

It will be released with the next world update, in August

Affectionally called Tante Ju.
Look forward to it.

I would be interested to get this addon. One of my wife’s German relatives flew JU52s in the invasion of Crete in 1941

I get that they’re working within the confines of the sim, but the instrument panel does not match the airplane at all.
