Months? How did you arrive upon that conclusion? They said in the Dev Q&A that they will roll out a fix ASAP as they know what’s causing it.
Xbox version is beautiful otherwise and was running hiccup free and locked at 30fps almost all the time in all conditions prior to the 40th anniversary update.
We were told the Xbox LOD fix would roll-out in mid-January in a follow-up question to the timeline for implementation. However, recent language used on this topic (“as soon as possible”) makes me think we may see a fix sooner in Beta. But we’ll see, as we’re likely to get an update on the status of this issue this week.
I was new to MSFS and Xbox 6 months ago, after seeing an ad, and Xbox was the least expensive way to jump in (I got the Xbox X). It was a really bumpy start because the sim was very buggy (for PC and Xbox) but I joined the beta testing and have seen substantial improvement - flying is mostly smooth now, with default aircraft.
If you get an Xbox, get a wireless keyboard and mouse for cockpit interaction.
Some of the reasons for choosing a PC over Xbox are diminishing: for me the incomplete avionics in default planes was real shock and disappointment - and the free “mods” to fix them were PC only. But since then Working Title has worked with MS / Asobo to replace the avionics in many default planes, and are soon to refresh more of them.
Also, some of the study-level planes are not available on Xbox because ‘reasons’, but the ability of Xbox to run WASM should allow more of those types of planes to come to Xbox, (eg, the new A310)
I’m still confused about what MS plans to do about allowing free mods on the marketplace, and about the delays in approval even for bug fixes of paid addons via the marketplace. On a PC you can install content directly from a developer, but on Xbox you have to go via the marketplace. I think they are working to improve this.
For me, I eventually want 3 monitor surround, yoke, pedals, etc and that probably means jumping in to a PC, but want to see the sim have a period of consistent stability before investing in a bunch of gear. For now I’m enjoying the Xbox in spite of all the bugs and testing, and don’t regret the purchase.
I use a wireless mouse, keyboard, and the VelocityOne yoke & throttle quadrant, and it’s works really well on Xbox Series X. Multi-monitor support is probably the biggest thing lacking for console of the things you listed.
If you don’t mind the minor limitations compared to PC you will be able to fly an amazing SIM for little more than 250 Euros if you go for the S ( that works perfectly fine ). If money is no issue and have plenty of time and enjoy fiddling with settings go for a PC but you’ll have to spend 10 times more to get a similar or better experience… I find that in the forum critics are often overstated and I am also guilty of it. Even after the latest update where lots of us complained about downgrade in graphics and some even went as far as saying it is unplayable, it is absolutely fine and given the importance of XBOX in MSFS I think it will only get better. To enjoy it I have found that I also need either a yoke or flight stick and a mouse on top of the XBOX controller. I have the Hotas One which is also very good and doesn’t break the bank!
Saving and loading flights is a feature in the sim and yes that means on console.
However I have never been able to load a flight and have access to the toolbar, or any features attached to it (VFR map, weather window, ATC window) - which means I can’t use certain features after loading. Even when using hotkeys to bring them up.
Indeed, for the money nothing beats Xbox Series S. In fact due to lower native resolution, compared to XSX, this little console generated more stable framerate than XSX, especially in SU9. It was a sight to behold how beautiful the graphics were.
Dont buy anything!
Start gamepass ultimate subscription and play it on a old xbox one or on your pc!
I dont like cloud gaming but this game was made for it!
Looks great and it seems less problem then playing from a xbox!
BUT!! I have to start a thread about the fact that the cloud storage space you get is too small! My is full! Cant buy or download anything anymore!
Anybody know if the 40th version has all the world updates built in so that I could delete them from the cloud?!
But seriously! For everybody who wants to play this game, gamepass and go!!
I confirm that, it’s really disgusting to see what they’ve done with ground textures, i am flying above viaduc de Millau, 27000 FT , textures are not ruined but totally butchered !!! it’s so painfull to see that…
So if this not repared, do not buy an Xbox to run msfs
It’s hard to recommend the game on Xbox to anyone right now, in this state. We will see how fast they can fix this downgrade, It could take months. Below is a picture from glider training mission.
The Xbox Series consoles have rolled back their graphical fidelity, stuck in some kind of safety mode after the latest update. And we need a patch to get fidelity back to what it once was.
A patch is coming. The issue has been fixed on internal builds.
Some folks want a fix now, while others haven’t even noticed an issue.
In short, the Series X now looks like the Series S version did before the update but in 4K, and the Series S experienced a similar rollback.
