New Simmer worried about getting MSFS on XBox

Thanks, do you have any recommendations for a HOTAS controller for Xbox FS?
Really don’t want to use the Xbox controller or a yoke. For PC I use the Thrustmaster Warhog but that’s not to work with Xbox. I prefer a flight stick.

What up bro! I play MSFS on Xbox and it runs great! you just need to know what settings to put in so you can have a smooth gameplay! I stream on Twitch if you want to check out my settings and all. The HOTAS thrust master works perfect! especially with the rudder pedals. definitely a W.

Thanks for your reply. What HOTAS thrustmaster are the referring to. Is it the thrustmaster One for Xbox? I may get that. Just tried out the Turtle Beach Velocity flight stick and am sending it back. The cursor doesn’t work and I ended up have to use my Xbox controller to navigate around. I was sorta looking at the Thrustmaster Air Bus HOTAS but it looks good but not $300 good.
There really are not any high end HOTAS for Xbox like there are for PC.
I have a Virpil setup for Elite Dangerous on PC and it’s a dream to use.
So I need to pick up a Thrustmaster One for Xbox?

Just my 2c on the xbox thrustmaster.

I never buy any accessories for any games but I saw the Thrustmaster One for sale at Best Buy for $60 a few months ago and thought I’d give it a try.

IMO the use of the Thurstmaster depends how you play MSFS on Xbox.

-If your setup is on a desk and monitor, then the Thurstmaster really makes the entire MSFS on Xbox incredible. It’s so immersive and really makes you feel you’re in the cockpit and flying the plane.

-If your setup is to play MSFS sitting on the couch and relaxing then the Thurstmater is sort of a pain in the behind to always setup. Also, it doesn’t really feel comfortable playing it on the couch. I even use a tray that I put the thrustmater on whe on the couch but I have to sit up and lean into it. Not very comfortable and sometimes my hand/arm feels sore.

For me, I prefer playing on the couch on my 65inch tv. I like the comfort of the Xbox controller and just sitting back on the couch with it is very relaxing. If I have to get up and setup the Thurstmaster and the tray, it sort of becomes a chore and work. And after coming home from work wanting to play the game, 9/10 times I don’t feel like setting up the thurstmaster.

btw - if you do get the thrustmaster one and want to use it far away from the tv/monitor get a extension calbe for the USB. I got one at Amazon for like $5.

The HOTAS One is the best bargain control for MSFS on Xbox.

I have a Honeycomb setup on my PC, and still fly on Xbox most of the time with that cheap HOTAS. You can do better. But for entry level hardware, it is better than it has any right to be.

I have not read all he comments so apologies if this has been said before.
As you are an Xbox user if you have not got Xbox Games Pass Ultimate then subscribe to that.
It used to be £1 for the first month for Game Pass and Flight Simulator is on it.
That way you can try it and see if you like it for just £1.

After that it is up to you.

I also agree if you do like it then the Hotas One is well worth getting.

Get a month of Game Pass for $1 and try it out. Flight Simulator is perfectly fine now, by the way – long loading times, but it’s mostly stable and runs well. If you’re new then you don’t really have to worry about add-ons either, since you don’t have any, and the base simulator is now full of brilliant world updates, handcrafted airports and more aircraft than you can shake a stick at.

Has anyone had any experience with the Xbox version of the ’ TCA Captain Pack X Airbus edition? Made by Thrustmaster and only came out recently. Not cheap but can be configured for most any aircraft in FS.
So far it looks like the only higher end flight stick you can use with Xbox.

The actual beta works perfect. Now it looks stunning again on series x! Very very good! Like a different game

Many times better than the current public build, agreed

YMMV. My setup is sofa and 65" TV with hotas and pedals. I leave them plugged in all of the time, so it takes about 3 seconds to pick them up into place, I use a laptop tray which I fit the hotas and keyboard on (keyboard behind hotas) and then mouse on the sofa arms (which are wide and flat enough luckily). I find the setup very comfortable and very workable, massively better than just an xbox controller, which IMO was terrible for GA and airliners and probably unusable for helis. I only use the controller for drone flying.

Can you post a picture of your setup? I’d like to maybe setup something similar. Just problem is the tv i use it on is the family tv and the rest of the family doesn’t like the flight sim stuff there so I always have to take it down when they want to watch movies, etc…

What about the S? It’s on sale now for $239. S has a faster processor than my PC 3.6ghz compared to my laptops 2.4, higher resolution, 1440 vs 1080 and HDR which I don’t have. My PC is an I5 9th gen and a Nvidea GTX 1650 running on about medium settings. 10gb ram vs my 8. I can’t afford an X right now.

S is fine. I think most XB users are using S. It still looks great on S.

Thanks. Just ordered. I’m buying a backlit keyboard and mouse combo to go along with it.

I think with purchase of Xbox Series S or X, you get a free month of gamepass or it’s 3 months of gamepass for $1.

You should take advantage of that and play flight sim for free as it’s part of the gamepass library. You can play it for 3 months and decide if you want to buy it later if you don’t want to keep gamepass.

Also, you can get gamepass for $1 for 3 years if you google on how to do that. It’s not illegal and MS allows it.

I picked one up today at Walmart. There’s no graphics options whatsoever other the HDR. The ground graphics are pretty abysmal and I’m not sure I can handle the pop ins and outs of the ground textures. What I do like is the 1440 resolution and HDR. It’s just the ground textures look pretty bad. Like the lowest setting on the pc version. A definite downgrade for me. I read something about a bug with the ground textures? I just can’t believe there is no graphics options at all. Well I will say it runs very smoothly.

I read your post a little late and was going to recommend the X for this exact reason.

Hoping you can get a SX soon cos it looks absolutely jaw dropping on that. The more powerful GPU and more RAM help bigtime!

Well I have till Jan 30th to return it. I’ll wait till Asobo gets that bug patched in January and if it don’t look any better than this then yeah, I’ll go with the X.
