The hotas makes such a huge difference it’s well worth the investment. An even better investment is a mouse. Just a normal PC mouse on the xbox suddenly makes the virtual cockpit controls so much more accessible.
Yeah, I was a bit thrown off by the fact that the HOTAS does not seem to have the ability to access the menu options, and found it strange to need to switch from the HOTAS to the controller. I didn’t realize that a mouse was an option for the Xbox. Thanks for the suggestion.
My peripherals kept growing, Thrustmaster, then mouse, then keyboard, I also use the Xbox controller to fly the drone, iPad on the table for any notes I’ve made…….can’t fit any more on the table now so that’s it.

Hey @Blackeunos9129, if you can create a topic in the Tech Talk category I can help you there
Blue skies!
EDIT: Disregard, this has been done
Yes! I feel like that is where I am heading now. My issue is that I’ve got the Xbox set up in our guest room so I don’t have to subject the wife to hours of “boring” flight simulation. We don’t have a desk in there, so I’ve created a makeshift workstation to set up the HOTAS. I’m sure I can work out something more practical.
Hi you can call me: Draven 990
I am playing Microsoft Flight Simulator on: I haven’t played it yet, but right now I’m on my computer right now, just thought I give my computer some attention since I usually give my Xbox attention.
I want to try flight simulation because: I wanted to try something different.
I’m most interested in learning about how to pilot in Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Hi Draven,
Welcome to the forums and happy flying!
Hello Draven

Hello and welcome! Glad you are here. I recommend once you get the sim installed to try out the Training missions-it’s kind of like getting trained for your PPL only in the sim. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to go to the General Discussion & Community Support category and ask there.
Welcome aboard again-see you in the (virtual) skies!
What’s up you are more advanced than me. Just mastering the 172s and 182s
I like the 182s because of the constant prop also like NX Club. Low and slow for me right now, but one day I will venture out and try the big boys. Playing by the book no assists and doing all interactions manually, “Hard” Just got a keyboard and mouse to go with my controller,
Anyway stay in touch, I may have some questions soon for you. bfn,
This is my first post and since 2012 I’ve played on mobile flight sims like Xplane and Aerofly on my IPad and I’ve always looked at PC flight sims but could not justify getting a high end PC.
Two weeks ago I found out that MSFS runs on Xbox and now I own a Series X.
Just thought I’d introduce my self and I’m going to fly GA aircraft eventually using a flight stick wireless mouse and keyboard but the controller is good for now.
Hi everyone and happy flying…
Niko….
Hello hello hello!
Welcome to the forum! Hope you enjoy MSFS and have fun flying the GA planes…the base sim surely provides a lot of those (the DHC2 Beaver is my favorite )!
If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask in one of the subcategories in General Discussion & Community Support. Happy flying!
